Apocalypse Redux
Chapter 86: Prolog (Book 3 Start)
Everywhere outside the solar system
Humans were unquestioningly his kind of people. Therefore, there was very little chance that they wouldn’t try to kill him if they knew that his people existed.
Had Existed.
Well, he was around, which was very much the same thing at this point.
Either way, they seemed destined to clash. For there was not enough space in this galaxy for two apex predators, and irrespective of what human media claimed their fundamental nature was, humans were just as dark and twisted as they’d no doubt consider him to be.
After all, weren’t there individuals who tried to rake in XP and earn themselves a spectacular [Class] purely on the basis of slaughtering their “fellow man” And weren’t those same people swiftly and brutally executed without even a hint of the fabled “due process?”
Heh. Just like his own people had been. When others than him had still existed anywhere save the graveyards.
But that was the past, and he did not dwell on it. Or on the fools who had squandered the [System’s] gifts. Twice.
He, though, he had reached the Level cap with the greatest [Class] in the universe, and now he had the rest of eternity to enjoy the spoils.
Build all his pet projects.Indulge in all possible pleasures.
And most importantly, feed his Capstone.
Which might not be possible for much longer, with how quickly humanity seemed to be advancing all of a sudden. Apparently, learning that there were rogue World Bosses in the galaxy had given them, to use their own parlance, “a kick in the pants.”
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
So it was perfect that he was just about ready as well.
He cast his attention elsewhere, focusing on a single him, firmly planted upon a titanic throne of precious metals, which was, in turn, sitting atop a ludicrously over-the-top platform that was mostly gemstones, with barely enough reinforcement that it wouldn’t shatter under the metallic weight.
“War has arrived!” he roared, voice ringing across the grand hall, throughout the palace, and out into the city below.
The thunderous reply of nigh upon a million feet stomping upon the ground a single time in perfect lockstep flowed back a second later.
“We will be victorious!”
Another sound of thunder. Two stomps, multiplied millionfold.
“And with the spoils, we will be unstoppable!”
This time, the rolling thunder continued on for a full minute, synchronicity maintained throughout.
Prime leaned back on his throne.
Of course, there was absolutely nothing about this body to designate it as “prime,” nothing special, nothing extraordinary, nothing to set it apart from all the other hims that were working across his slice of the galaxy.
But keeping decisions and declarations entirely mental was the easy option. The boring one. Things like that needed to be spoken aloud.
As his own master, his lord, his own god, there was absolutely nothing stopping him from building a gilded throne atop a platform of pure diamond to speak from. And with how many of him there were, keeping a him on it only felt proper. It left him feeling like a king, and all it took was less than a percent of a percent of his total manpower.
He threw his head back and began to cackle the way he’d seen the protagonist do in some of those tragedies the humans had been beaming into space for well over a century.
“Mwhahahahaha- …”
He broke off with a wracking cough that left him unable to speak for several seconds. His physiology was not set up to produce those noises, supernatural physical abilities be damned.
Prime summoned his status window and raised his right hand, three fingers trailing across one particular portion, a particular cell that had started glowing gold upon his 5th and final Evolution and never failed to put a smile upon his face.
Species: Cessid Civilization
I wonder how feeding my Capstone will change that name?
