Apocalypse: Rebirth With An Infinite Storage System
Chapter 331 They have the keys.
“Whoa! Are all these cars still working?” Antelope asked, pacing around the showroom with his eyes wide open in astonishment. “I’ve never had the opportunity to see cars like these before the apocalypse, but look at me now! I’m actually touching them!”
“Of course they’re still working. They’re brand-new cars. We only need to find the keys,” Ivy replied with a heavy sigh, wondering why he was making such a fuss over something so obvious.
Just then, Antelope turned his attention towards her, an idea seemingly occurring to him.
“Commander Ivy, why don’t you leave this to me? I have enough space to collect most of these cars. In fact, I could probably take care of nearly all of them.”
Ivy slowly turned her head towards him, her expression unreadable.
“Is that so?”
“Of course!” Antelope exclaimed, puffing out his chest proudly. “You don’t have to worry about anything. Just leave the selection to me. You know me, after all. Even if others doubt me, you should know that I’m someone you can trust.”
He was clearly enjoying himself, behaving as though he had suddenly become the wealthiest man in the room. The thought of having access to so many brand-new vehicles seemed to have gone straight to his head.
Ivy stared at him for another moment before abruptly raising her hand.
He has a storage space now? He wants to collect everything for himself and then disappear with them later, is that it?
Smack!
“OW! What was that for?” Antelope exclaimed, clutching the back of his head and staring at Ivy in disbelief after she struck him.
“Can you stop talking nonsense for once?” Ivy retorted, giving him an irritated look.
“But I was only trying to help!” Antelope protested, rubbing the spot where she had hit him. “How exactly is that talking nonsense? I’m simply offering to make things easier for everyone!”
Instead of responding, Ivy rolled her eyes in disdain and turned her attention away from him.
Just then, one of the students who had been watching their exchange stepped forward to defend Antelope. He had heard him mention having a storage space, and that particular detail had immediately caught his interest.
“Commander Ivy, don’t be so harsh on him. Antelope is just being enthusiastic. Besides, he’s always been devoted to you. He only wants to help!”
Antelope immediately nodded in agreement, seemingly pleased to have found someone willing to take his side.
“Exactly! See? Even a teenager understands me!” he exclaimed before turning towards the male student. “You’re quite smart. I like that!”
Ivy couldn’t help giving the two of them an unimpressed look.
“Unfortunately, I don’t remember asking either of you for commentary.”
Antelope’s expression immediately fell, and he pressed his lips together, clearly displeased by her response.
The student, on the other hand, lowered his head and pressed his lips together, struggling to suppress his laughter.
Just then, Ivy turned her attention back to the showroom and addressed everyone.
“Let’s find the keys to the vehicles we’ve selected. We’ll leave two SUVs for everyone to use. The remaining vehicles can be distributed according to our arrangements.”
“Two SUVs?” Antelope repeated, raising an eyebrow as confusion and curiosity crossed his face. “Are you sure that’s going to be enough? We could take another one or two. I mean, considering how many people we have, wouldn’t it be better to have more vehicles available?”
Ivy slowly raised her hand again.
Antelope immediately swallowed the rest of his words, taking a cautious step backwards.
He had already learned his lesson. There was no point in getting himself hit a second time.
“Commander Ivy!”
Darren’s worried voice suddenly rang out as he hurried into the showroom, arriving just before Ivy could deliver another lecture to Antelope.
Ivy immediately turned towards him, raising an eyebrow.
“What’s wrong?”
“Something’s wrong. Two students, August and Emma, are in the bathroom. They’re both experiencing terrible stomach pains.”
“Stomach pain?” Ivy repeated, her eyebrows drawing together slightly.
The male student who had just defended Antelope quickly nodded in confirmation.
“Didn’t I ask you to inform the commander? What took you so long, Nathan?” Darren asked, raising an eyebrow as he turned towards the student.
“That’s right. We found them in there, and they were both clutching their stomachs,” Nathan hurriedly explained, directing his attention towards Ivy. “I was actually on my way to inform you, but I saw you and Antelope in the middle of a conversation, so I didn’t want to interrupt.”
Ivy glanced between the two of them before releasing a heavy sigh.
“They can deal with it themselves. They’re not babies, after all. This is the apocalypse, and they need to understand that there are far worse things to worry about than a stomach ache. We can’t afford to panic over every little discomfort when there are more serious matters demanding our attention.”
Her tone was firm, leaving little room for argument.
Erick hesitated as he walked into the showroom, arriving just in time to catch the tail end of their conversation.
“But, Commander, they have the keys…” he began cautiously.
Before he could finish, Ivy interrupted him.
“If they have the keys to some of the cars here, then they can return them once they’re done dealing with their stomach aches. Besides, they’re both in the bathroom right now, aren’t they? Or are you expecting me to personally escort them out of the toilet?”
Darren exchanged a glance with Erick.
Neither of them seemed to know how to respond to that.
After all, Ivy wasn’t entirely wrong. They were in the middle of an apocalypse, and everyone needed to learn how to handle minor inconveniences without constantly depending on others.
Ivy, seemingly satisfied that the matter had been settled, turned away and prepared to continue inspecting the vehicles.
However, just as she took a few steps forward, a loud commotion suddenly erupted from the direction of the bathroom.
“Let go of me!”
