Apocalypse: Rebirth With An Infinite Storage System
Chapter 249 That should teach you a lesson!
Darren nodded his head immediately.
Ivy then made her way toward the rooftop where the survivors were gathered. The moment she arrived, dozens of exhausted and frightened faces turned toward her. Some of them looked so weak that they could barely stand properly, while others stared at her as though they couldn’t believe someone had actually come to rescue them.
"All right, it’s time to leave now, guys," Ivy announced, her voice firm and serious.
For a moment, the survivors remained silent, as though they were still trying to process her words, then one of the men stepped forward.
"Thank you so much, ma’am," he said, his voice trembling with emotion. Tears immediately began rolling down his cheeks. "We’ve been trapped on this rooftop for half a year now, and our food supplies have been completely exhausted. We honestly thought we were going to die soon."
He wiped his tears with the back of his hand, but more tears continued to fall.
"We couldn’t leave because the main building is filled with monsters. Every time we tried to think of a way out, we realized there was nowhere we could go. We’ve only been surviving on the little food we had left, all while waiting for the day we’d eventually die."
The man’s voice cracked as he spoke.
"Some of us had already accepted our fate."
"Half a year?" Ivy repeated, raising an eyebrow as shock appeared on her face. "You’ve all been trapped here for six months?"
"Yes, ma’am," the man replied, nodding his head.
"It’s all thanks to this motherfucker!" a woman suddenly chimed in, her voice filled with anger and grief.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she pointed an accusing finger toward Desmond.
"He’s the reason we suffered for so long! He even got my mother killed!"
Ivy’s expression immediately turned cold as her gaze shifted toward Desmond, who was still struggling desperately against his restraints.
"He’s really a walking disaster, after all," Ivy muttered with a scoff.
Desmond continued twisting his body, desperately attempting to free himself but his muffled cries only irritated Ivy further who walked toward him, raised her leg and delivered a heavy kick directly to his stomach.
Desmond’s body was sent rolling across the rooftop all while he groaned in pain, clutching his stomach as he struggled to recover from the impact.
Meanwhile, some of the survivors had already begun escaping from the rooftop one after another. This was the wish they had been desperately holding onto for half a year, and now that their opportunity had finally arrived, they couldn’t afford to waste any more time.
One survivor nervously approached the zipline and stared down at the enormous distance beneath him and his face immediately turned pale.
"Don’t be scared," Darren called out from below. He had already positioned himself at the receiving end of the zipline while keeping his weapon close enough to deal with any approaching monsters. "Whatever you do, don’t look down at the shattered glass or the monsters on the ground. Just hold on tightly and focus on getting here safely."
The survivor swallowed hard.
"Just keep your eyes forward," Darren continued encouragingly. "You’ve survived six months on that rooftop. You can definitely survive this."
The survivor took a deep breath before finally gripping the zipline tightly and beginning his descent and soon got down.
"You all should go now, please," Ivy urged from the rooftop. "Don’t waste any more time. Everyone needs to get out of here."
The survivors nodded their heads and began moving toward the zipline.
As Ivy watched them leave one after another, her gaze suddenly landed on a long, thick wooden stick lying nearby. Some of the survivors had previously been holding it as a weapon, intending to use it to attack the monsters in case they eventually managed to climb onto the rooftop.
Ivy walked toward the wooden stick and picked it up, her fingers tightened around it as she slowly turned toward Desmond.
"You bastard!"
.Before Desmond could react, Ivy swung the huge stick with all her strength.
Whack!
The wooden stick struck his body, tearing his skin and immediately drawing blood all while Desmond winced violently in pain.
"Oh, yes! You deserve it!" Ivy exclaimed, her anger evident in her voice as she continued beating him with the thick wooden stick, striking him repeatedly as he screamed through the cloth stuffed inside his mouth which soon fell on hence his loud screaming soon filled the air mixed with the growls of monsters trapped in the building whose rooftop they’re standing on.
Ivy did not even care neither was she even checking exactly where she was hitting anymore. She simply continued swinging the stick, striking him across his arms, shoulders, back, legs, and torso. Every blow was filled with the anger she had been holding back.
The survivors couldn’t help but watch from downstairs as well as some still on the rooftop.
Instead of feeling pity for Desmond, they all felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
Eventually, Ivy’s breathing became heavy and was almost completely out of breath.
After delivering one final strike, she finally stopped, the wooden stick slipped from her hand and fell heavily onto the rooftop.
Ivy stood there for a moment, breathing deeply as she stared at Desmond.
"That should teach you a lesson," she muttered.
She then reached down and wiped some of Desmond’s blood away from the side of her hand before turning her attention back to the survivors.
Ivy waited until the remaining survivors had safely made their way across the zipline and only after she was certain everyone had escaped did she return her attention to Desmond.
She crouched down and began removing the restraints around his legs.
Desmond struggled to stand, but his legs immediately trembled beneath him but then Ivy grabbed him and secured him tightly against herself.
Desmond struggled weakly, but after the beating he had received, he no longer had the strength to resist her properly.
Ivy then approached the zipline and carefully secured herself.
She made sure Desmond was firmly held before grabbing onto the line and with that, Ivy pushed away from the rooftop as the zipline carried them rapidly across the gap between the two buildings
