But when Stella Sterling and her people arrived, they found that the place where Felix Lawrence and his group lived had long since collapsed.

It was completely unrecognizable.

Stella Sterling’s heart sank. ’The situation here is so dire... which means Felix Lawrence and the others inside...’

She fell silent for a moment, then finally said to the Black Swan members, "Start digging. We’ll save whoever we can!"

Her expression was calm, showing little sadness or anxiety. She had been through too many things like this to be devastated by it.

Still, the thought that Felix Lawrence and his group were likely buried in the rubble did affect her mood.

The Black Swan members didn’t know the connection between Sterling and the people buried below, but upon receiving her order, they sprang into action.

Stella Sterling left for a moment and returned with some tools.

She tossed them to the people from Caeluna Base.

Tools would speed things up, at least a little.

But after digging for a long time, all they found was scrap metal—not a single person.

There was no telling how deep they were buried; it was uncertain if they could even recover their bodies.

Under these circumstances, Stella Sterling had already given up hope that any of them were still alive.

She had them keep digging, not because she was grief-stricken, but because she wanted to make one final effort.

"Sterling?"

Just as Stella Sterling was leading her people, digging frantically, a hesitant voice called out from behind.

Stella Sterling turned around and saw a familiar figure standing not far off, looking at her with delighted surprise.

She stopped what she was doing, recognizing the young man in the distance.

It was Felix Lawrence’s son, Leon Lawrence.

’He’s actually alive,’ she wondered. ’Did he escape by a stroke of luck, or was there another reason?’

As Stella Sterling turned, Leon Lawrence got a clear look at her. Confirming it was her, he ran over joyfully. "Sterling, it really is you! You’re alive and well! This is great!"

When the huge earthquake hit, he and his father had been very worried, not knowing how Sterling was faring.

He then looked at the people with Miss Sterling, his expression puzzled. "Sterling, are all these people with you?"

"Yes."

Stella Sterling nodded, relieved to see him.

Then she noticed Leon Lawrence’s expression. There was no trace of sadness on his face.

She finally began to relax. ’It looks like Felix Lawrence’s group is probably fine—at least, nothing major happened.’

Otherwise, his son wouldn’t be acting this way.

Leon Lawrence saw that the people Sterling brought with her were digging for something.

Since this was exactly where they used to live, he quickly put two and two together.

Sterling was safe, and as soon as she was, she must have worried something had happened to them and immediately brought people to help.

So he quickly said, "Sterling, tell your friends to stop! My dad, his men, and I—oh, right, and that young subordinate of yours—we’re all fine!"

Leon Lawrence then explained everything to Stella Sterling.

Apparently, just before the earthquake, something strange had occurred. Andrew Shaw’s expression had suddenly changed, and he’d warned them an earthquake was coming, urging them to quickly grab their important supplies and move to open ground.

He was frantic and anxious, and everyone else was baffled.

But he acted like a madman, shouting desperately, and when he saw they didn’t believe him, he just ran outside by himself.

Seeing him act like that, Felix Lawrence and the others, though still skeptical, decided to be cautious. They moved out their important supplies, like food and other necessities.

They figured that even if nothing happened in the end, it would only be a bit of extra work with no real loss.

But to their surprise, a massive earthquake struck not long after, shaking the very earth and mountains.

Because they had moved out ahead of time, they all escaped the disaster. As for him, he had come back because he’d accidentally dropped something his mother had left him, so he snuck back without telling Felix Lawrence.

He never expected to run into Stella Sterling and her people.

As he spoke, Leon Lawrence’s eyes still showed a trace of fear. "Thank God that young man warned us," he said. "Otherwise, I’m afraid we all would have died here."

Hearing that it was because of Andrew Shaw, Sarah Sterling could understand. After all, Arthur Shaw was someone who had survived for so long in the apocalypse.

His experiences and his ability to predict danger were far greater than others’.

Thinking of this, she felt a surge of relief. ’It’s a good thing I left Andrew Shaw with them.’

The Black Swan members had already received the order to stop. Since everyone was okay, there was no longer any point in digging.

"Sterling, I’ll take you to my dad and the others."

Leon Lawrence said happily, leading the way. The Caeluna members looked at the boy, then glanced back at Sterling.

They wondered what the relationship was between the boy and Sterling; they seemed to be on very familiar terms.

Before long, Stella Sterling saw Felix Lawrence and his group.

Hearing the sound of their approach, the whole group turned to look.

Felix Lawrence rushed over. "Where did you run off to, you brat? Are you trying to worry me to death?!"

Leon Lawrence quickly replied, "Dad, I went back to get Mom’s thing! Look who I brought with me!"

Only then did Felix Lawrence notice Stella Sterling at his side, a flash of delighted surprise in his eyes. "Miss Sterling! You’re safe and sound, too. This is wonderful!"

’But how did my son run into Miss Sterling’s group?’ he wondered.

From Leon Lawrence’s brief explanation, Felix Lawrence soon understood what had happened.

He looked at Stella Sterling gratefully. "Thank you."

Then, he bowed to the people standing behind her. "Thank you all for your kindness!" ℴ

He had never imagined Miss Sterling would go out of her way to bring people back to rescue them. His gratitude was beyond words.

"Don’t mention it. Now that I see you’re all safe, I’m relieved."

Stella Sterling nodded.

Just as Felix Lawrence was about to respond, a small figure approached them. "You woman! You just dumped me here for ages and didn’t even check in. Weren’t you worried I might have died?!"

Arthur Shaw walked toward Stella Sterling, his voice dripping with grievance.
