Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner

Chapter 251: Authority of Salvation Intervenes

To break free from the Arcane Prison, the female demon immediately assessed the number of seals she had to break.

She broke the first seal, allowing her to retain at least twenty percent of her strength.

However, it was not enough.

The second seal was broken, and her demonic mana finally began to leak out.

The Authority of Salvation finally noticed her presence, but she was deemed not powerful enough to threaten the Empire.

Even then, the Arcane Prison strongly immobilized her. She could not even cast a spell to teleport.

When the enormous quantity of Arcane Mana from the magic circle finally reached its final point, the female demon panicked.

Without hesitation, she broke every seal.

She felt her strength and demonic mana return—more powerful than ever.

When she landed her gaze on Angelo, she grinned.

Angelo’s ultimate spell was fully cast.

The enormous quantity of concentrated Arcane Mana bolted toward the female demon at a speed that broke through the sound barrier.

Every Demon Hunter and demon could not help but glance toward their direction, as the night seemed to have turned into day because of the Arcane Mana.

Angelo’s eyes widened.

He could perceive that his Overlord’s Cataclysm had hit nothing.

Suddenly, the Arcane Mana was drowned by a sea of darkness made of demonic mana.

It was heading toward him, and his Overlord’s Cataclysm was being swallowed by the darkness.

He was stunned.

If his ultimate spell was so easily broken out of nowhere, how could he even think of retreating?

Just as he fell into despair, the darkness was suddenly engulfed by a blinding golden light.

The blinding golden light appeared everywhere.

From the trees, from the air they breathed... everything was transformed into blinding golden light that engulfed the darkness, eventually revealing the body of the female demon.

That was when Angelo finally noticed that his ultimate spell had actually reached the female demon.

Only, she had dissolved her body into darkness to lessen the injury and recover almost immediately.

The darkness was not devouring the Arcane Mana. It simply kept producing more darkness until it overwhelmed the Arcane Mana.

The reason was simple—the female demon possessed a demonic authority, perhaps granted by their King.

Only Demon Lords and above could possess the demonic authority of a Demon Sovereign.

The demonic authority was also a way for the Demon Sovereign to enforce loyalty among their vassals.

Angelo was extremely familiar with the golden light.

It was the divine authority left behind by the Godhand of Salvation.

The golden light swallowed the female demon, who screeched at the top of her lungs.

She could not muster any strength to resist.

The golden light completely disabled her while rapidly consuming the demonic mana she possessed.

Judging by her expression and voice alone, Angelo could not dare to imagine the agony she must have been experiencing.

In the end, when she died, Angelo glanced at the frontline and noticed that the sentient demons were filled with fear.

For the first time, the demons from the Kingdom of Endless War felt true fear toward the golden light.

The Demon Hunters took the chance and attacked them with full force.

The demons felt overwhelmed, and when the golden light vanished and everything returned to normal, they seemed to have forgotten the death of their commander as they retaliated.

Angelo, who finally snapped awake, glanced at the place where the female demon had vanished.

Everything had already returned to normal, as though the female demon had never appeared in the first place.

The earlier thought of being swallowed by the darkness made Angelo’s hair stand on end.

He frowned heavily.

The Adaptive Combat Courtyard in the Demon Hunters Academy actually turned out to be accurate when it came to imitating the strength of the demons it had recorded.

Rumors had it that it came from Max himself.

The only inaccurate part was the Demon Lord’s strength.

The Demon Lord he had faced earlier was far stronger than the Demon Lords he usually fought against in the Adaptive Combat Courtyard.

Angelo gritted his teeth and clenched his fist.

He admitted it—demons were far stronger than humans.

Perhaps this was especially true because Demon Lords and above naturally inherited the demonic authority of their Demon Sovereign.

Even demons below the rank of Demon Lord possessed superior physiques and combat talents, depending on the Demon Sovereign they served.

The Demon Hunters were trained heavily to fight against demons, yet they needed extreme coordination and immense knowledge to fight and slay even a single one of them.

If it were not for figures like their Guildmaster and Seraphina, who constantly provided aid, the Southern Frontier would have been swallowed by the demon forces long ago.

While he was lost in his thoughts, an individual entered his domain, catching his attention.

He already knew that it was the Guildmaster.

He glanced at the battlefield first, and after confirming that the Demon Hunters could hold on without a single casualty, he finally floated over to meet the Guildmaster.

When he landed on the ground and saw the Guildmaster and the others heading his way, he suddenly felt as though his legs had turned to jelly.

He almost lost his balance and fell embarrassingly.

Thankfully, he managed to regain his composure.

He bitterly smiled.

When Max finally arrived, he could immediately see Angelo’s current condition with a single glance.

He jumped from his horse and walked closer to him.

He asked, "What happened?"

Angelo nodded.

Not needing to tilt his head upward to explain, he comfortably recounted the details of his encounter with the female demon.

Max listened attentively, and his face turned grim.

When Angelo finished, his gaze unknowingly landed on Seraphina, who was utterly shocked.

Although the Demon Lord had ultimately been annihilated by the Authority of Salvation, the mere fact that a Demon Lord had been able to enter the Empire’s territory and attempt to assassinate Angelo dumbfounded her.

Furthermore, Angelo revealed that if Max had not warned him in advance, he might have truly been assassinated.

Seraphina clenched the reins of her horse tightly, recalling her previous conversation with Max.

It turned out that Max’s speculations were beginning to come true...
