Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 247: Auctioning Demon-Hunting Items
A week had passed since the first night of the war against the demons.
For the past six nights, the Demon Hunters Guild had maintained its momentum and continued to defend against the demon invasion.
On the first night, the number of Demon Hunters deployed for the war was reduced to four thousand, but on the second night, the casualties were immensely lower than before.
In total, they only lost three hundred Demon Hunters.
On the third night, they only lost a hundred and fifty Demon Hunters.
Until the seventh night, not a single Demon Hunter had died.
The consecutive battles did not exhaust them at all.
Despite the thought of following their dead comrades soon after and the fear of uncertainty about the future, those feelings would immediately disappear whenever they fought against demons.
The Demon Hunters had been instilled with the idea of fighting as many demons as they could to contribute to mankind.
At the same time, the teachings from the Demon Hunters Academy proved to be correct.
When they killed a demon, they would feel a sense of exhilaration.
They did not need to fear the corrupted demonic mana because of the healers.
They did not need to be terrified by the demons’ appearances or their brutal methods of killing.
Once they killed a demon and won a battle, it became addicting.
As expected, it truly worked.
Even if they knew they would die, they had to die fighting against demons.
They had to kill as many demons as possible, make them struggle to their satisfaction, and witness the pain they felt from their weapons.
They had to return what their ancestors had experienced from the cruelty of the demons.
It almost felt as if what they felt toward demons had been passed down from generation to generation, inevitably resulting in Demon Hunters who never cowered.
Demon Hunters who showed true courage and strength against a terrifying race that could easily split them in half.
If the Demon Hunters were players who lived in a different world, the Demon Hunters Guild might have already failed on the very first night of the war against the demons.
But it was these natives of the Empire who gave birth to the true Demon Hunters.
Max was beyond satisfied when he heard the results.
At the same time, he glanced upward, and the Guild’s ranking remained solid and firm.
Likewise, for him, as he had been participating in battle, especially in the Southern Frontier, his place at the top of the rankings remained irreplaceable.
As much as he wanted to take a rest, he could not afford to do so.
The fact that the intensity of the demon invasion never decreased each night gave him a lingering bad feeling.
At this moment, they gathered once again in the Main Command Hall.
They discussed the future demon invasions with the High General and their respective tacticians.
When they were finished, Max logged out of the game.
He was about to sleep when his smartwatch notified him.
He glanced at it and saw a message from Kylie, reminding him that he had exhausted all the items he had auctioned.
Max was the primary reason Kylie played Apocalypse Online.
Since Max spent most of his time in the game, Kylie had to adjust.
All of Max’s auctioned items were given to her, leaving her with the responsibility of distributing the items and receiving the money.
Kylie was basically a very useful assistant for Max.
Max also never held back when rewarding her.
Reading her message, Max realized that Kylie might have also messaged him inside the game, but since he had strictly muted his notifications ever since the war had begun, he had failed to receive her message.
Max fell into deep thought and considered some items from the Demon Hunters Guild that he could use for the auction, especially now that they were at war against the demons.
Items such as Demon Detection Crystals, anti-demon potions, communication devices, emergency barrier equipment, and other items that were useful against demons could be auctioned.
Of course, Max would not include the Guild Communication Network, as he believed it was the Guild’s greatest advantage—something that no other Guild possessed.
This is not a bad idea.
Max’s eyes sparkled with greed.
It was inevitable that his previously auctioned items had significantly dropped in value, especially equipment and potions that could be obtained by NPCs through rewards or simply by buying them in the city.
However, the items produced by the Demon Hunters Guild were unique and could not be bought unless Max himself auctioned them.
As far as Max remembered, there was still a huge supply of war equipment.
Demon Detection Crystals, Emergency Signal Beacons, Rift Detection Beacons, Portable Barrier Generators, Corruption Suppression Devices, Purification Lanterns, and so on.
There were also demon-hunting weapon enchantments, which Max hesitated to include.
As Max fell into deep thought, Kylie called him.
Max accepted the call without hesitation.
"What is it?"
"Your auctioned items are completely depleted."
"I know. I’m considering it."
"I have an idea. Since your Guild is absolutely dominating the war, why won’t you auction the items that only your Guild possesses?"
"That’s exactly what I’m thinking. I’m still considering it."
"Great!
Also, Aethernova extends their wishes for your success in the first world event."
"I know. I assumed they were already preparing various activities for me once this first world event ends."
"I guess so. You can handle it."
Max shrugged. At the very least, he could only force himself to find joy in whatever Aethernova had prepared for him.
"Alright, that’s all. I’ll be waiting for your message about the auctioned items."
"Mhm."
Max ended the call.
When he glanced at the bed, he did not hesitate to jump onto it, not minding that he had not taken a shower for the past three days.
It had been truly exhausting. He had barely left the game and had to constantly use the sleep compression pack.
Of course, he always had time to train his body.
But the war had completely consumed his attention, to the point that Matilda and the others could not help but feel worried after seeing their Guildmaster working harder than them.
That was why Max instantly felt his consciousness drift into the dream realm once his body collapsed onto the bed...
