Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 219: Authority of the Holy Knight
As soon as the Holy Knight felt the weight of the massive greatsword, he held his breath, feeling as though his physical strength were about to give in.
Just as the Hellfire burst forth and was about to swallow him, he immediately responded with a counterattack.
He shifted his grip slightly, causing the massive greatsword to slide and lose its balance, heading downward.
At the same time, the Holy Knight’s Divine Blade exploded with an aura of Divine Mana coating its edge as he delivered a powerful slash toward Varkhaz.
Varkhaz was truly taken aback.
The strength of the Holy Knight far surpassed that of the Blade Saint woman he had encountered previously.
Varkhaz felt threatened by the blade coated in Divine Mana heading toward his face.
Although the physical blade could not reach him due to the difference in their height, the condensed Divine Mana continued forward with unprecedented momentum.
If it had been merely a normal blade intent from a Blade Saint, Varkhaz’s durable demonic physique would have been able to endure it.
But the Divine Mana carried the Authority of Salvation.
The question was—was there even a human who possessed the Authority of Salvation and utilized it for combat?
Varkhaz could not recall his mentor ever mentioning such a person.
In the first place, the divine Authority of Salvation represented the liberation of humanity from beings like them.
It was exactly why the first bearer of the Authority of Salvation had been a support-type individual rather than a combat-oriented one.
What Varkhaz didn’t know was that it had only become possible for the Holy Knight to possess the Authority of Salvation by expressing salvation through protection, judgment, and sacrifice.
In other words, the Holy Knight’s Authority manifested through the protection of others with his blade.
And who was the Holy Knight protecting?
Max.
Max was the catalyst, and Max understood it better than anyone else.
That was why he dared to put himself in danger, knowing the Holy Knight would definitely protect him.
Watching the condensed Mana arc toward Varkhaz’s face like a crescent moon, Max noticed the crown-like formation of jagged volcanic spikes surrounding Varkhaz’s head suddenly explode with Hellfire.
Instead of spreading outward, the Hellfire entered Varkhaz’s body, causing his heavily armored body to release even more Hellfire through his cracked, glowing skin.
The pressure emanating from his body was so immense that the condensed Divine Mana actually failed to penetrate his hand.
Varkhaz protected his face with his hand.
Now that he had unleashed the power of his Ashcrown, consuming a vast amount of demonic energy within his body, he had to immediately get rid of the Holy Knight and slay Max.
He gripped his sword tightly.
Without even needing to move it, the Hellfire traveled through its body until it reached the ground, where the massive greatsword’s tip had pierced the earth.
Magma fissures erupted around him.
The terrain was rapidly altered.
The Holy Knight felt the scorching heat of the Hellfire, which actually began burning through his Divine Mana.
However, instead of retreating, the Holy Knight noticed that the magma fissures were spreading outward, threatening not only Max but also the demon hunters behind him.
As a bearer of the Authority of Salvation, he could not allow Varkhaz’s power to reach Max and the demon hunters, who were already suffering from his Hellfire.
The Holy Knight faced his sword downward and began chanting a spell.
Varkhaz was stunned that the Holy Knight did not retreat but instead chanted a spell.
The Authority of Salvation emanating from the Holy Knight suddenly surged.
As its vessel, the Holy Knight appeared to be summoning the Authority of Salvation around them, with his Divine Mana reaching out and drawing upon the Authority of Salvation.
Varkhaz was furious at being ignored.
He raised the Ashrender and was about to swing it at the Holy Knight when the hairs on his body suddenly stood on end.
His massive wings, composed of smoke, embers, and infernal flames, sensed the presence of familiar Divine Mana behind him.
Varkhaz turned his head.
To his surprise, Max was flying some distance away from him.
Varkhaz spotted a lingering presence of the Radiant Weave—clearly, Max had been using his strange, rope-like ability to move through the air again.
At the same time, Max summoned his Radiant Spears.
However, there were not only five Radiant Spears.
Not far behind Max, multiple floating magic circles hovered in the air.
There were at least four of them—as terrifying as Max’s Radiant Spears.
As the five Radiant Spears were finally cast, the multiple floating spell circles finished forming as well.
A concentrated barrage of radiant magic headed toward Varkhaz.
Varkhaz was stunned.
With his exceptional perception, he instantly identified the caster behind the multiple floating spell circles.
It was another one of Max’s Radiant Knights, and its spells were just as terrifying as his Radiant Spears.
In the first place, Max was a Summoner, and Varkhaz naturally could not comprehend how Max himself could be as powerful as his Radiant Knight, who was an Arcanist.
Hence, instead of targeting the Holy Knight, Varkhaz decided to swing his Ashrender in Max’s direction, colliding with the Radiant Spears and the concentrated barrage of radiant magic.
The Hellfire and the magic spells filled with radiant Mana collided, releasing a shockwave of thunderous sound and howling air that spread across the main battlefield.
At this moment, the Holy Knight finally finished casting his spell and pierced his Divine Blade into the ground.
His Authority instantly manifested around him, dissipating the Hellfire like a wind blowing out a candle.
The magma fissures that had erupted with Hellfire disappeared, leaving behind empty cracks that slowly released the Authority of Salvation.
The divine fissures that reached the demon hunters strengthened their defenses and boosted their morale.
The effects inflicted by Varkhaz and the corruption abilities of the Greater Demons, especially Velkara, dissipated.
With the protection of the Holy Knight surrounding them, the demon hunters appeared fearless as they fought against the demons courageously.
The Holy Knight’s Authority skill became even stronger as it perceived the demon hunters’ genuine reliance on him.
He could not help but smile.
He glanced at Varkhaz, who was also looking down at him after blocking Max and his Radiant Knights’ spells...
