Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 177: Demon Hunters Guild
Lancelot rode the horse and led Max in the Imperial Capital.
He asked, "Do you want to have a tour around the city first?"
Max shook his head. "Imperial Summon should not be delayed."
Lancelot chuckled. "Right. How about afterwards then?"
Max didn’t hesitate to reject his invitation. "I apologized, Sir Lancelot. I still have matters to attend to."
"Just call me by my name." Lancelot sighed.
"Lancelot, it is."
Lancelot delighted. "Anyway, it sounds that you are pressed on time. If it isn’t because it’s an Imperial Summon and you will be receiving rewards, you might refuse a victory banquet invited by the Emperor."
Max only smiled, not responding.
Lancelot was stunned. "You really aren’t planning to attend to a victory banquet next week, aren’t you?"
Max was surprised. "There is?"
Lancelot nodded. "The Emperor should invite you after granting you the rewards, then?"
"Can I refuse?"
"Are you, really?" Lancelot was shocked.
Max nodded. "Yes. Now that Malveris returned to the Kingdom of Endless War, there is a high possibility that the kingdom might invade, especially on the Mirefall Province. I want to get stronger as possible."
Lancelot drew a sharp breath. "You really deserve the Imperial Demon Vanguard title for nothing.
Although I earned it by slaying countless demons, your dedication in understanding their action and working hard to prevent them from getting success amazed me."
Max smiled. It was not just a dedication to stop the demons, he simply wanted to get stronger and hoard the rewards for himself.
In his past life, it was Spencer who got the first place, even his Lewis Guild receive a reward from the system.
Spencer was at the peak C-rank at that time, but even B-rank NPCs were amazed by his talents and potential.
Max aimed not only to top the individual ranking, but in the group ranking as well.
The group ranking doesn’t have a criterion—it could be a party or an entire guild.
That was precisely why Lewis Guild came out on top because they were the first and most influential guild to be recognized, unabling the party players to surpass them.
While he was thinking of his Guild, Max finally recalled that he also had to establish his Guild.
It was similar to the Imperial Demon Vanguard, albeit the qualifications were lower and specifically targeted NPCs rather than players.
Players only sought rewards while NPCs desired to protect their Empire from the demons.
Recalling that Lancelot was an Imperial Demon Vanguard, Max didn’t hesitate and asked, "I’m also planning to establish my Guild, do you want to join?"
Lancelot’s eyes widened. He was thrilled that Max invited him to join his group, but he immediately restrained himself after realizing that Max might only needed a support from his family.
He asked, "Why me?" His voice was difficult to discern.
Max glanced at him and was baffled. He replied, "Because you are a Blade Saint and an Imperial Demon Vanguard. My Guild only aimed to kill Demons.
I call it Demon Hunters Guild.
If at some point the guild expands and possess immense strength, we can help the frontier settlements reclaim our lost settlements and expand the Empire’s territory outside the Authority of Salvation."
Lancelot was stunned. He could not control himself and replied in a vigorous tone, "That’s a good idea!
How many members are in the Guild now?"
Max replied, "Two."
Lancelot blinked innocently. "How many?"
"Two of us at the moment. I already have one in mind... oh, and the another. But there’s not suitable for hunting demons, like the two of us. We need to recruit members that can fight alongside us."
Max thought of the Rune Mage and the Beast Tamer NPC he has in his disposal, but at the moment, they were not yet powerful enough to fight against demons.
Lancelot was in disbelief. He thought Max might have already gathered powerful other members, but to his dismay, there were only two of us at the moment.
Suddenly, his eyes widened. Doesn’t that mean the creation of the Demon Hunters Guild started with me?
Just the thought of the future of the Demon Hunters Guild, gaining fame and reputation, and was build from the scratch with him as the founding members exhilarated him.
I must help the Guild surpass even the reputation of my family!
His face turned serious and silently swore to himself.
"What are you thinking about? The Demon Hunters Guild is just an idea at the moment."
Lancelot rolled his eyes. "I know. But you should propose this to the Emperor. If he approves, you will have the most influential backing of our Guild."
Max couldn’t help but fall into deep contemplation.
Just two weeks ago, the game announced the creation of the Lewis Guild.
Since it was the first guild created by the players, the system naturally acknowledged Spencer’s achievements and granted the Guild with bonuses, such as NPCs recognition, a permanent Guild’s headquarters and more.
Max naturally couldn’t enjoy the benefits that the Lewis Guild could enjoy.
However, if he has the Emperor’s backing, then that might change his decision to establish a guild entirely as soon as possible.
Max didn’t take a lot of time to reply, "Alright. I will consider it."
Lancelot’s face lit up. His impression of Max was beyond the roof.
Max didn’t even consider asking for his family’s backing, which showed his deep respect for him.
He was moved.
The way he looked at Max now sent a chill running down the latter’s spine.
"What are you staring at?"
Lancelot noticed how unbecoming he had become and felt embarrassed.
He coughed. "Nothing. Now that we two members are in the Demon Hunters Guild, we should recruit others."
"The Emperor is not informed yet." Max sighed.
He asked, "By the way, which province are you assigned? Am I the only Imperial Demon Vanguard in the Mirefall Province?"
Lancelot replied, "I’m assigned at the northern province. Although there are more monsters there, demonic activities have been sighted. I captured a lot of Dark Mages there.
As for your second quest, I actually don’t know.
Imperial Demon Vanguard is an independent special commission."
