Apocalypse Online: Regression of SSS-Class Summoner
Chapter 160: Tide-like Crowds
The press conference ended and the media instantly dispersed, rushing to publish news after news to be posted in social media, letting other players to still be aware of how the press conference proceeded after missing it.
As the media left, Max stood up and glanced at the CEO.
The CEO faced him, stood up, and smiled, shaking Max’s hands.
"I’m looking forward to be working with you."
Max nodded. "Likewise.
I will be leaving now. My family is still waiting for me."
The CEO nodded. "Go ahead. Kate, accompany him."
Kate bowed deeply and replied in a polite tone, "Rest assured, Sir. I will do my best."
The CEO nodded and left, accompanied by the head of the legal affairs department.
Watching the CEO’s departing figure, Max thought. This cooperation will benefit me. But it should not restrain me.
He inwardly sighed. He did not have a problem with Aethernova controlling him to promote the company, but he would not allow them to be excessive on their demands.
It should be equal.
Just as he benefits from receiving assistance with the company’s gaming pod, the company should be benefitting from him.
But it should not be imbalance.
As Max headed towards his family, he initiated a conversation with Kate.
"Kate, I want you to invite someone who’s proficient in upgrading my gaming pod’s hardware.
It should be the peak that the company could provide.
At the same time, provide me another gaming pod...
No, make it two.
Will that be excessive?"
Kate was taken aback.
She was utterly surprised that she stopped on her tracks.
Max turned around and stared at her. "What’s wrong? You don’t know the contract’s terms and conditions?"
Kate was speechless.
She immediately regained her composure and replied, "I was just surprised. Consider it done by tomorrow."
Max shook his head. "I will be having a vacation for a week here in Toronto. I will return a week after. I will contact you then when I need it.
I just want you to be prepared."
Kate nodded. "Yes, that will do."
Max turned around and paced forward, while Kate hurriedly caught up to him.
At the same time, she fell into deep thought. He didn’t even hesitate to demand right after the contract signing. This guy’s unbelievable.
His admiration towards Max only elevated...
...
When Max arrived to the Public Plaza, coming out from the seventh floor where Enzo and Auntie Sarah stayed in a Public Cafe, he suddenly noticed that the Public Plaza was brimming with people.
When these people glanced at him and recognized him, Max was immediately circled by them.
Max’s eyes turned sharp.
He noticed that amidst the enthusiastic crowd, who simply wanted to get closer to him, there were some who wanted to take advantage of the situation to strike against him while the iron was hot.
He didn’t simply stand, waiting for the crowd to encircle him unlike Kate.
Instead, he kept repositioning himself—every step was deliberate, creating space for himself until the crowd was unable to follow him due to their disoriented movements, allowing Max to gracefully walked past them.
Those who wanted to take advantage of the situations suddenly found themselves unable to move because of the crowd ironically, and could only helplessly watched as Max walked with a hurried pace.
He continued to evade the crowds with his bizarre movement, while Kate was dumbfoundedly staring at his back.
However, understanding the gravity of the situation, she immediately called for the security guards to protect Max and his family from the crowds.
Thankfully, as Max continued to evade the crowds with his bizarre movements, the security guards arrived.
The security guards were surprised at first that Max was not yet surrounded by the crowds, but they immediately dispersed the crowds, who were gradually forming in every direction.
Max didn’t bother glancing at the security guards as he continued to the Public Cafe, while seemingly completely aware of the vicinity, gaining the security guards’ attention.
Although Max appeared to be ungrateful, they knew they had to protect Max at all costs because of his value to the company they were working for.
Max successfully arrived at the Public Cafe, where the crowds glued themselves to the wall glass, staring and capturing Max and his family with their cameras.
Enzo gazed at his elder brother and his eyes sparkled with deep admiration for his elder brother.
He watched the press conference live with Auntie Sarah, who was utterly shocked.
Although Max did not disclose to them his primary reason they were being guided by Aethernova’s staff compared to other visitors, and him going alone with her, Enzo had an idea that the press conference that Aethernova announced yesterday was probably related to his elder brother.
He was right.
Still, he could not stop himself from being completely shocked by the news that his elder brother was becoming the elite player ambassador of Aethernova for Apocalypse Online.
He felt a deep sense of admiration and respect towards his elder brother.
Max glanced at Enzo and couldn’t help but chuckle the way he was staring at him.
It has been a while since he gained such a different level of respect and admiration from him.
When he glanced at Auntie Sarah, he couldn’t stop himself from laughing.
Auntie Sarah felt embarrassed when Max laughed at her, but seeing that the boy she watched growing up was laughing to his heart’s contents, she couldn’t help but smile.
Once Max’s laughter settled down, Auntie Sarah said, "Look at you, hiding such a big news from us.
And then laughing straight to our face just because we were completely shocked.
Quite a stunt you have, Max."
Max glanced at Auntie Sarah and beamed a smile at her.
"I’m sorry, Auntie Sarah. I just want to surprise both of you."
"Yeah, sure we didn’t know." Auntie Sarah smiled helplessly.
Max glanced at Enzo and said, "I have already told Aethernova to provide a gaming pod for you... and for you, Auntie Sarah as well.
You can play whenever you have time. I will personally guide you."
Auntie Sarah shook her head and remained adamant. "You should not while you still have a chance, Max.
I really have no interest to play."
"For now, but soon, we’ll see."
Seeing Max’s unyielding attitude only made Auntie Sarah sighed helplessly with a smile...
