Chapter 449: Chapter 223: Situation in the Northern Lands, a Pinning Feint, and I’ll Be the Main Force
"Of course, when the time comes, the Zerg Race Mother Empresses’ main focus will certainly be on the Salvation Army’s position in the Southwest."
"If you can still contact the defending forces in the city, tell them to send a powerful team to break out toward the Southwest as well. We’ll coordinate—they’ll strike from the inside while we strike from the outside. This will confuse the Mother Empresses and make them completely convinced that the city’s defenders are breaking out through the Southwest..."
With that said, Lin Feng looked at the dumbfounded Federation Military officers in the conference room and continued:
"Trust me, a simple feint consisting of harassing attacks won’t be enough to serve as a proper diversion."
"High-tier Mother Empresses aren’t fools. On the contrary, they are emotionless war machines."
"According to your plan, several Mother Empresses in the Southwest will deploy their full forces, making the diversion mission incredibly difficult. Instead of that, let’s follow my lead and turn the Southwest approach into the main battlefield."
"If we can just kill one High-tier Mother Empress, the Zerg Race will dive in headfirst, even if they know it’s a trap. After all, the prize of a Tier Three Awakener, plus the Swarm belonging to a High-tier Mother Empress, is enough to make those Early-stage Mother Empresses on the periphery—who are only getting scraps—make a ’wise’ choice."
"The only thing that can attract them are the spoils of war."
"Once we escalate the intensity of the conflict in the Southwest, the Zerg Race Mother Empresses will throw themselves into the fray one after another, just like gamblers."
After hearing Lin Feng’s analysis and proposal, General Chen and the few field-grade Tier Two Awakeners responsible for the breakout
were all left in a state of profound shock.
It was only after a moment that one of them, a Major General and Tier Two Middle Stage Awakener, stood up and asked:
"Following this plan would be ideal. But the only question is, City Lord Lin, are you confident you can eliminate a High-tier Mother Empress in a single morning?"
"We are well aware of your strength, City Lord Lin..."
"But you must understand, a High-tier Mother Empress on the surface is completely different from one hidden deep Underground!"
"For the former, you just need to send a death-or-glory commando team with a Nuclear Bomb to severely injure it. If the nuke’s yield is large enough, you could even kill it outright."
"For the latter, however, you have to enter an Underground Hive, fight your way into a Nest buried hundreds of meters deep, and engage the Zerg Race Mother Empress on its home ground."
"You would be facing the entire Zerg Race!"
"And hundreds, if not thousands, of Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs!"
This Tier Two Mid-Stage Awakener voiced the collective thoughts of every Federation Military officer in the room.
They knew, of course, that this approach was far better than the original breakout plan. It could save more survivors and ensure the breakout was a complete success.
But ideals were one thing, and reality was another.
In reality, no organization or individual could guarantee they could successfully kill a High-tier Mother Empress within an Underground Hive.
Even the decapitation mission Lin Feng had accomplished in the past relied on the blast of a Nuclear Bomb to force the Mother Empress from its Underground lair. Only then, by coordinating with the Guard Battle Group and Ling Yi, was he finally able to eliminate the Jiangbei Mother Empress.
But if he were to strike first now, the Zerg Race Mother Empress clearly wouldn’t emerge from the Underground to relocate and intercept until it had confirmed the besieged forces were actually attempting to break out.
To the Federation Military, Lin Feng’s words sounded like the reckless boasting of someone completely out of touch with reality.
They were more worried that Lin Feng’s bravado would needlessly sacrifice this elite force from the Salvation Army, sending them to their deaths in an Underground Hive.
Which, in turn, would cause the original breakout plan to fall apart at the final hurdle.
So, after exchanging worried glances, they decided to have their strongest Major General stand up and voice a word of caution.
But Lin Feng, sitting in the back, simply shrugged.
"Don’t worry. I’ve been preparing for this day ever since I formed my Tier Two Corps! I built them to ignore terrain, to march deep into the Hives, and to slay Mother Empresses!"
As he spoke, Lin Feng began to unleash the powerful aura befitting a Tier Three Awakener.
"My soldiers will become the most powerful force in this apocalypse. A Tier Two Swarm is nothing..."
Lin Feng rose slowly to his feet. He looked at the dozen or so high-ranking Federation Military officers and declared, word by deliberate word:
"With me to lead them..."
"No matter how many come, that’s how many we’ll kill!"
