Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts
Chapter 1395 - 37: Kinship (4)
He casually bought some food from a street stall, strolling along like an ordinary tourist, lazily taking in the scenery of Pierde City, until Wen Yu raised his watch, checked the time, then looked into the distance.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a heaven-shaking explosion rang out, orange flames blooming like fireworks and lighting up the entire night sky.
In an instant, alarms across Pierde City screamed like mad, one uniformed figure after another shot into the air, streaking rapidly toward the site of the blast.
As the third-largest city under the Legas faction, the forces stationed in Pierde City needed no further explanation—more than a dozen Limit Breakthrough Level Level 10 Elite squads, in Pierde City, were like raindrops merging into the sea, unable to stir up much of a storm at all.
In fact, enemy-behind-lines sabotage of this sort wasn’t rare within the highest Seven-Person Council, and when Elite squads were captured, the city defense forces wouldn’t execute them on the spot, but arrest them and keep them as bargaining chips for future negotiations.
So, for Elite Soldiers like Yu and Wen, if they ran, mission accomplished, they’d receive commendations and attention from their superiors; if they didn’t, it still wasn’t especially dangerous.
Of course, that was on the premise that they hadn’t done something that would "incur the wrath of heaven and resentment of man"...
After the first round of explosions, more blasts sounded from all directions, Wen Yu’s tactical terminal ringing crazily with reports of each squad’s results and alarms; overall...
They still had a sliver of room to escape.
After all, these Limit Breakthrough Level Level 10 Elite squads were no cannon-fodder pushovers...
Of course, that already had little to do with Wen Yu.
He just strolled leisurely, watching in every direction while listening to the movements of the whole city.
Until Wen Yu stopped in front of a completely inconspicuous apartment building.
...
The apartment was small, seven stories, and on the surface looked worn-out, decayed, long since fallen into disrepair.
Yet when his powerful Perception Ability swept through the building, Wen Yu’s lips gradually curled into a smile.
With undercover experience spanning decades, if Yu hadn’t dug up some hidden information, that would be fooling ghosts, and this place was exactly one of the "fuses" Yu had discovered, something worth Wen Yu personally making a move on...
"Creak."
As the apartment’s front door was pulled open, Wen Yu stepped inside.
"Hello, please register!"
The old gatekeeper didn’t even raise his head as he spoke, yet the Limit Breakthrough Level Level 10 aura leaking from his body blazed in Wen Yu’s perception like a torch.
A Limit Breakthrough Level powerful expert, working as a doorman...
Wen Yu simply raised his hand slowly.
Black Light surged out, instantly covering the entire apartment’s walls, and right on its heels came the gatekeeper’s low roar and the heavy punch he hurled in fury.
"Bang!"
With a spray of blood and sludge, the loyal gatekeeper was completely turned into a pile of gore, but that brief roar was like a signal—within moments, the whole apartment seemed to come alive.
Tenant after tenant poured out of their rooms: countless races, all sorts of clothing, different faces—but what they shared was the aura emanating from head to toe.
All Peak Level 10 and above!
...
"Boom!"
The quake-like sound jolted Feyler awake from his sleep.
He rubbed his eyes and looked at the window in confusion, but all he saw outside was a deep black curtain.
Feyler was puzzled, doubtful, until a gentle knocking sounded at the door and he finally turned toward it.
He spread his perception, trying to see what was happening outside the door, but his Early Stage Level 5 Perception Ability seemed to be sealed by some unknown force, turning all his efforts into useless gestures.
"Who is it?"
With no choice, Feyler could only use the most basic method to voice his question.
"...Delivery..."
The voice outside fell silent for a moment, then gave an answer that was downright absurd.
"You’re lying to me..."
Feyler wasn’t stupid; while responding to the voice at the door, he turned his head, trying to see if he had any other way out—but with a loud "boom," the door was completely smashed apart, and a stranger stepped in from the hallway.
Feyler immediately twisted toward the doorway. Outside lay several corpses sprawled in disarray, blood flowing in rivulets, merging together and spilling out a pungent stench.
"Aunt Aleja, Uncle Mikai..."
Feyler seemed stunned by the carnage beyond the door, staring wide-eyed at the neighbors he’d once been familiar with, mumbling sounds that made no sense.
"Those aren’t your aunt and uncle. Those are all quite Elite warriors—your bodyguards, basically... and it took me a fair bit of effort to deal with them..."
Wen Yu calmly narrated what had just happened, then dragged over a chair and sat by Feyler’s bed, fixing his gaze on Feyler’s eyes.
In those eyes, Wen Yu saw nothing but bewilderment.
"So you really didn’t know that in this whole apartment building, you’re the only actual tenant, did you?"
Feyler shook his head blankly.
"And you didn’t know that all these neighbors, property staff, and all the other random people here are bodyguards your father assigned to you, did you?"
"Father?"
Feyler’s confusion deepened another notch.
"The five hundred and twenty-seventh illegitimate child of Legas—Legas himself probably doesn’t even remember your name. But I have to say, as a father, Legas is fairly competent; at the very least, your security level isn’t low."
Wen Yu laid out the cause and effect for Feyler, making sure he’d at least die understanding. Then Wen Yu stood up and snapped his fingers lightly beside Feyler’s ear.
With a crisp "snap."
Feyler’s gaze went unfocused, and he toppled headfirst onto the bed.
...
Just a few minutes after Wen Yu left the apartment carrying Feyler, several figures with extremely powerful auras appeared near the building. They entered and carefully examined every trace Wen Yu had left behind.
As expected, they found nothing suspicious at all—so the blame was shoved onto the invading squads outside.
However, for Legas, who had nearly a thousand illegitimate children, the disappearance of one unimportant bastard child wouldn’t cause much of a stir to begin with—strictly speaking, Feyler wasn’t a key figure, and Wen Yu abducting Feyler wasn’t a major event.
But just as Wen Yu had planned.
Feyler was nothing more than a "fuse" worth Wen Yu personally pulling...
...
"So-called kinship relies mostly on blood."
"Blood ties make you kin. In my world, there are some ancient bloodline sorceries that borrow the power of blood to strike at hostile targets from afar."
"So, little brother Feyler, stop telling me you’re just an Ordinary Demon Race, that you’re worthless... In my eyes, your value far exceeds the limits of your own imagination."
