Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts
Chapter 1221 - 175: Deprivation
Looking at the Sentinel lying in his hand, Wen Yu’s eyes flickered. On one hand, it was due to the acquisition of these dozens of Sentinels—as long as you master the control methods, these things are undoubtedly powerful hidden weapons rarely seen in the world. On the other hand, it was due to considerations regarding this place...
No wonder Origin Energy keeps leaking from here, yet the Demon Palace hasn’t sent anyone to make repairs. With these Sentinels guarding this place, even if a Level 11 powerful expert were to arrive personally, with instant recovery abilities, they wouldn’t be able to focus on doing anything else amidst the siege.
Of course, this is just a guess, but if this speculation were to become reality, then these Sentinels must be out of control...
"Solved?"
Bai’s voice sounded in Wen Yu’s ear. He noticed that the incoming attack disappeared in an instant, knowing that Wen Yu had already taken measures in response.
"Yes."
Wen Yu merely responded softly, then gently tugged on Bai’s sleeve, indicating for the group to continue forward.
"No rush."
However, Bai waved his hand at Wen Yu, indicating that he had other matters. Then, he controlled Ye Nan to return to his side.
This place was dark and unlit, and the suppression on perception ability was immense. Although Bai had many means, he was fundamentally hindered by his weak physical constitution, unable to see anything clearly.
The darkness undoubtedly intensified Bai’s fear. Moreover, as they proceeded this far, Bai’s hidden methods had been largely depleted—not only during the recent pursuit but also while reuniting with Ye Nan and the Avenger. And the situation here was unknown; they hadn’t traveled far before encountering crisis, forcing Bai to unearth some of his bottom-tier tricks.
As Ye Nan returned to Bai’s side, Bai released his grip on Wen Yu’s sleeve. He raised his hands, exploring Ye Nan’s body. Accompanying Bai’s exploration, purple runes suddenly lit up all over Ye Nan.
The light from these runes should have been dazzling, yet within this tunnel, the brilliance was suppressed to an extremely faint glow. What should have been a mesmerizing and glorious scene became strange and eerie, giving one an unsettling feeling as if seeing a ghost.
At least within Wen Yu’s perception range, Ye Nan at this moment indeed looked quite like an evil spirit.
As the purple runes sequentially flashed, it didn’t take long before Ye Nan’s entire body turned a deep purple. His skin seemed to glow, and through his face, you could even see his internal bones and blood vessels.
This glow shone for about a minute until the purple light on Ye Nan’s body reached its peak. Only then did Bai let go, and in the next second, Bai’s head transformed instantly!
The once fair and handsome face suddenly became a ferocious dragon head. This dragon head opened its large mouth, immediately hovering over Ye Nan’s head.
The dragon head moved incredibly fast, even leaving Wen Yu slightly overwhelmed, but after a flicker in front of his eyes, Ye Nan, standing before Bai, had disappeared.
"Burp~~~"
Bai let out a big burp, then closed his eyes. The purple light flowed from Bai’s mouth, traversed down to his throat, then to his stomach, and finally transferred to Bai’s heart area.
"Cough, cough..."
The scene unfolding before him made Wen Yu cough lightly twice—although he didn’t know what Bai was doing, the act of "consuming a person" indeed made Wen Yu a bit nauseous...
Though speaking of which, Wen Yu’s Limit Breaking Abilities inherently involved "consuming people," but it wasn’t as straightforward and crude as Bai’s. The two were like the pot calling the kettle black. Besides, Wen Yu himself wasn’t particularly sympathetic; Ye Nan’s life or death didn’t concern him at all.
From Wen Yu’s perspective, Ye Nan surviving this long following Bai, considering their history, was already somewhat fortuitous...
"Let’s go."
Having finished all this, Bai took Wen Yu’s sleeve once again while slowly walking forward. With Ye Nan gone as their trailblazer, Wen Yu now directed the Faceless to proceed, with the two following behind till the "whoosh" sounds started again.
...
It was still Sentinel Type III, but this time, there were as many as dozens appearing within Wen Yu’s sight. They moved swiftly and targeted them with great precision, as though locking onto Wen Yu’s party. As soon as the ’whoosh’ sounds began, dozens of Sentinels were already before Wen Yu’s face.
The speed was such that Wen Yu didn’t even have time to activate Dream Come True!
What just happened occurred once more; Wen Yu’s flesh was torn apart, yet quickly restored under the effect of the Photosynthetic Spirit Motifs. Wen Yu was just about to activate Dream Come True when he suddenly noticed that Bai beside him was completely unharmed!
The Sentinels collided with Bai’s body, merely producing a "thud," as though Bai’s surface possessed some sort of invincible defensive power!
Conceptual undying body, belonging to Ye Nan’s abilities.
Perhaps sensing Wen Yu’s gaze, Bai turned to smile at Wen Yu but said nothing, and Wen Yu, startled momentarily, quickly activated his skill. As time slowed down, in just an instant, Wen Yu found himself holding several more Sentinels.
After dealing with these little pests, Wen Yu and Bai continued forward, with Bai simply offering a brief explanation via telepathy: "Stripping professional traits requires very harsh preconditions and can only be used on specific individuals. Ye Nan followed me for so long, and since that guy wasn’t very suspicious, I was able to manipulate him."
A simple explanation, Bai understood Wen Yu had grown wary of him, but the current circumstances made it impossible for Bai to leave Wen Yu; he had to first stabilize Wen Yu to achieve their ultimate goal.
This, naturally, Wen Yu understood too. However, the two were ultimately just in a cooperative relationship, and after this mission, Wen Yu had already decided to return to Earth, ignoring Bai’s behavior entirely.
...
The group wandered the dark corridor for an unknown period, encountering several more waves of Sentinels. By now, these Sentinels posed no threat at all. Wen Yu converted them all into loot until he collected several hundreds, then the path ahead began to change.
The passageway gradually widened, while the suppressive force within the tunnel steadily weakened. Origin Energy became increasingly thick. Now, Bai no longer needed to grasp Wen Yu’s sleeve, trailing alongside him like a little tagalong.
The two quickened their pace until a faint glimmer appeared far ahead.
The light was like a lighthouse in the ocean, guiding the way forward. At the same time, wave-like sounds rose by their ears, growing louder as they pressed on, until they reached the end of the passageway, witnessing an unprecedentedly magnificent sight in their lives!
