Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts
Chapter 1197 - 153: First Contact
The single-layer area of the Demon Palace is vast, coupled with the fact that the documents Wen Yu obtained are indeed ancient and many passageways have been abandoned, causing Wen Yu to spend quite a bit of extra time.
After leaving Nileth, Wen Yu spent roughly three days to reach the negative 872 level of the Demon Palace. It was only then that Wen Yu received the signal transmitted by Bai.
The time dragged on too long—but this could not be altered by personal will; the journey was simply that far. Wen Yu really had no other options, so even though Bai sent out a distress signal to Wen Yu, Wen Yu still needed to proceed step-by-step, exploring, finding paths, then heading to the next level.
At this moment, Wen Yu could only hope Bai could hold on a bit longer; otherwise, Wen Yu would not be blamed for running away.
Throughout this journey, Wen Yu naturally maintained the necessary vigilance, but the expected ambush did not occur. With a brief thought, Wen Yu understood that the current level had not reached the preset ambush point of the Demon Palace Security Bureau. In other words, Wen Yu was still quite far from Bai.
As for this, Wen Yu did not have any significant psychological burden; he simply followed the procedure to hide his presence, following the route outlined in the documents to search for passageways. During the process, Wen Yu attempted to communicate with Bai using the communication jade token, but it seemed as though Bai was dealing with something that could not be extricated, as he remained silent, making three more days pass like this.
...
A brief moment of dizziness flashed by, the distance from level negative 910 to level 911 of the Demon Palace was crossed in an instant. As soon as he landed, Wen Yu immediately discovered something was amiss.
A peculiar aura permeated the air, as if it were a battlefield ruin after a war, with energy streams and remnants of skill fluctuations everywhere. These residual energy streams continually tore at the space here, opening one space crack after another. Wen Yu made a simple judgment and discovered these fluctuations had existed for too long; this place seemed like an ancient battlefield.
The data naturally surfaced in his mind.
The Demon Palace Basement Level 911 was originally the Origin Energy Research Institute, specializing in analyzing the composition of Origin Energy, application methods, and more. The importance of this place was self-evident. However, now it seemed this so-called Origin Energy Research Institute had become a thing of the past.
Chaotic odors continued to pour into Wen Yu’s nose and mouth, the internal information jumbled and hard to discern. Even if Wen Yu exerted all his strength, he could not determine if there was any danger here; even Soul Perception was the same.
After a while, Wen Yu took out the communication jade token again... Upon arriving here, the communication signal between Wen Yu and Bai was notably stronger, free from the previous crackling noise, yet Bai on the other end of the token still did not respond.
"It should be here, right."
Though he hadn’t identified any danger, a keen intuition sharply reminded Wen Yu that something was wrong here. Wen Yu pondered for a moment and slowly flew towards the distant area.
...
The residual energy fluctuations in the air and the dark space currents did not obstruct Wen Yu; he simply followed the predetermined route, moving forward. However, the surprises came too suddenly. At a certain moment, when Wen Yu unexpectedly saw four figures, he accelerated, sprinting towards the distance.
"Bai!"
Wen Yu’s soul fluctuation suddenly transmitted to the ears of the four people. The four abruptly turned their heads towards Wen Yu, their faces showing expressions of delight.
"You finally made it."
Bai stepped forward with a bright smile, speaking to Wen Yu with a grin, and Wen Yu’s face was also filled with smiles as he looked at the four present, slowly letting a hint of a smile flash across his eyes.
"Didn’t encounter any danger?"
Just like old friends reuniting, when Wen Yu’s spiritual fluctuation transmitted to Bai’s ear, Bai merely chuckled, simply stepping forward three steps, inadvertently coming before Wen Yu.
"Didn’t run into any danger, how about you?"
Bai’s voice was gentle, no different from before, and Ye Nan simply walked beside Bai, while Leoja and Purlang quietly blocked Wen Yu’s retreat.
"I didn’t encounter any danger either; not long ago, didn’t you send me a signal, asking me to come and save you? What exactly happened?"
It seemed to be mentioned unintentionally, but as soon as Wen Yu finished speaking, a beam of white light suddenly appeared in his hand, flicking onto Ye Nan’s body.
Ye Nan stared blankly at the Divine Light on his body, until it instantly burned through him, creating a large hole going right through his body, only then did Ye Nan react. He opened his mouth wide, revealing a mouth full of Sharp Teeth and Claws, and roared madly!
"Kill him!"
Like a kind of signal, as soon as the roar of ’Ye Nan’ ended, Leoja and Purlang behind Wen Yu started moving.
One in front and one behind, they moved like zombies, rigidly swinging their bodies, directly biting towards Wen Yu. However, Wen Yu merely sidestepped and dodged their attack.
"Are these corpses? Hmm, they should be puppets modeled after corpses, so, Leoja and Purlang, have both died at your hands?"
In the brief moment of speaking, Ye Nan, who was the first to be attacked and severely injured by Wen Yu, recovered. It was now clear to him that this simple trap could not escape Wen Yu’s eyes. With the glow emanating from his body, in no time, both Ye Nan and Bai transformed.
’Ye Nan’ was all black, wrapped in black cloth that emitted a foul smell, with his face hidden beneath a cloth mask, suddenly flashing four beams of light. He glared at Wen Yu with fierce eyes, his four eyes exuding a strong sense of malice.
Meanwhile, ’Bai’ seemed to have shed his skin, completely smooth like a polished human mannequin, with no facial features, just a round head. He was wrapped in white threads; with Wen Yu’s keen eyes, he could see two threads were connected to Leoja and Purlang.
"Manipulate puppets, huh..."
A simple judgment flashed by, but the two Demon Fiends that had already revealed themselves were not interested in conversations of love with Wen Yu. The human mannequin stepped forward, instantly closing in on Wen Yu.
Countless threads like living creatures quickly wrapped around Wen Yu’s body. Whether Wen Yu emitted Divine Light or used dark forces to corrode, none had any effect.
"The defense capabilities are outstanding..."
Facing the attack, Wen Yu calmly evaluated his two opponents, until the black cloth monster stretched out his hands towards Wen Yu.
Powerful energy waves surged from the hands of the black cloth monster, immediately locking the surrounding space firmly. In an instant, Wen Yu felt the invisible spatial restraints pressing on him, unable to do anything but watch as the black cloth monster clenched his fists, shattering Wen Yu’s body with the instantaneous spatial distortion.
