Chapter 49: Short Shower

“Okay, take me there,” said Li Ran.

Lin Nan frowned and interrupted their conversation.

“Wait. I’ll make arrangements in the base first, then we can go together.”

Li Ran understood where her husband was coming from but she retorted, “Your hands are already full. This matter can’t be delayed and the best way is to split up. If people found out that there is a shortage of food, it would cause mass panic. More than a thousand people will riot and things will become even more complicated.”

If they wanted to protect the base, they needed to act quickly.

Lin Nan sternly refused.

“No, you can’t go alone.”

“Then send someone to accompany me. Nothing will happen.”

Li Ran was persistent. She would not take ‘no’ for an answer because she wanted to figure out what was going on.

They need to be prepared if someone else really possessed another unique ability. Planning ahead was the long-term solution.

“I refuse.”

Lin Nan grabbed Li Ran’s hand and walked away. Before they left, he glanced at Fang Qiu and ordered a soldier to lock her up.

Li Ran felt helpless. She stared at Lin Nan’s face and tried to persuade him.

“Things are different now. Even if I’m by your side, I’ll still be in danger. Just protect my parents. I promise that I’ll safely return. Neither Cui Cong nor the zombies will be able to kill me. I’ll be fine as long as I’m careful. Don’t worry.”

Lin Nan hesitated. He had just reunited with his wife and did not expect her to be so adamant. Lin Nan really wanted to support her decision, but it was too risky and he did not want to compromise anything.

“Li Ran, I won’t agree to it.”

After Lin Nan’s stern rejection, he brought Li Ran back to the military district.

Fang Qiu looked at the couple in despair. She wanted to say a few words, but she also knew that she was powerless. They would never listen to her.

Tears began flowing from her eyes. Now, she was locked in this tiny room. It was hard to endure!

“Li Ran! Please, just let me return to my own room!”

Li Ran turned around and gave Fang Qiu a glance, but she did not say anything.

She followed Lin Nan back to his room.

‘This woman really worries me.’

He then closed the door and locked it.

“I’ll bring your parents over to accompany you. Stay here until I’ve settled the matter. After that, you can do whatever you want.”

Li Ran sighed deeply, “No need. I’m going to sleep. You can go and finish up your work.”

It was a good opportunity for her to go to the mysterious space.

She had to be really careful.

Lin Nan was silent for a while. Then, he said, “Okay, I’ll be back for you after I’m done.”

Li Ran understood that he was just worried about her. However, she could not tell him the truth. There was no way to explain it. If she tried, things would become even messier.

Perhaps someday she would be able to tell him everything.

She took out the small iron ball and pondered for a moment. The door to her room had no internal lock. Anyone with a key from the outside could enter at any moment.

‘I’ll only be gone for a couple of hours. There’s no way Lin Nan would return first.’

After Li Ran entered the mysterious space, daily tasks automatically popped out. She immediately closed them.

Without much thought, she immediately clicked on the system’s mall and bought some seeds. Then, she filled up ten plots of land!

After Li Ran was done, she heaved a sigh of relief.

Now, she just needed to wait for them to grow.

She entered the wooden house and saw some of her clothes.

In the end, she decided to take a shower.

However, if she exited the space wearing a new set of clothes, Lin Nan would notice and become suspicious.

How would she explain it?

On the other hand, it made no sense to put on dirty clothes again after taking a shower!

Li Ran lowered her head and sniffed her own body. Her expression soured. She took off her clothes and went into the bathroom, no longer caring about anything else.

There was a set of bathroom utilities that included shampoo, conditioner, scrub cream, and shower gel.

Li Ran left the bathroom reluctantly even though she had already taken a long shower.

If she had more time, she would have soaked in the bathtub.

Li Ran looked at the bathroom.

‘Tsk, there’s only one bathtub.’

Then, she looked at the time.

An hour and forty minutes had passed!

She had taken more than an hour just to shower and barely did anything important.
