Apocalypse: King of Zombies
Chapter 1563 - 1563: The Savior Who Started the War
The situation on the Eldoria Continent had largely stabilized. The intelligent races no longer had the strength to cause any real trouble.
All that remained was for the Beast Sovereign to hunt down the survivors one by one.
Several pinnacle races were certain to be exterminated. As for the other races, their fate would depend on the Beast Sovereign's mood.
With the threat from the Eldoria Continent effectively neutralized, Ethan prepared to take the others back to Earth.
Only five days remained before the Void Realm passages reopened. He needed to return early and prepare.
Veilmist Range
"You're leaving?" The Beast Sovereign stared at Ethan in surprise.
"Yeah. It's time for me to return to my world."
The Beast Sovereign looked reluctant to see him go. "Will I ever see you again?"
"Of course. Did you forget? I told you there was something I needed your help with." Ethan smiled.
"When did you ever say that?" the Beast Sovereign asked in confusion.
Ethan froze.
He had asked for the Beast Sovereign's help in the original timeline. After using Temporal Rewind, he had been in such a hurry to reach the Veilmist Range that he'd skipped the entire conversation and brought the Beast Sovereign straight there.
Ethan rubbed his forehead helplessly.
How had he forgotten something that important?
Seeing his reaction, the Beast Sovereign burst out laughing.
"Hahaha! You can tell me now. You saved my life, saved the entire beast race, and helped us defeat the intelligent races. Forget one request—I'd agree to ten."
"Ha! I knew you were a beast of honor." Ethan grinned, shamelessly laying on the flattery.
"All right. What do you need?"
"It's like this. My world is connected to several others. Before long, the passages between them will open, and powerful beings from those worlds will descend on ours. My people could be in danger, so I was hoping you could come with me and help keep the other worlds in check."
"That's it?" The Beast Sovereign's eyes widened.
"What did you think I was going to ask?"
"I assumed you saved me because you needed help with something incredibly difficult. This is nothing.
"Leave it to me. I've wanted to visit other worlds anyway. I can test myself against their strongest fighters and see if I can find a way to break through Stage SSS."
"When are we leaving?" The Beast Sovereign looked even more eager than Ethan.
"I originally planned to bring you back with us, but the Celestials Patriarch is still alive. You probably won't feel comfortable leaving until he's dead. Spend the next few days finding and killing him. Once the Void Realm passages open, you can cross over then."
"Good. I'm curious to see what your world is like."
The Beast Sovereign paused, then asked, "Are there any beings above Stage SSS in your world?"
"Of course not. If there were, even you wouldn't be enough to keep things under control." Ethan gave it a look.
"Fair point."
"But I have no idea whether the other worlds have any."
"…"
"You're not scared, are you?" Ethan asked seriously.
"Scared? Me?" The Beast Sovereign raised its head proudly. "The stronger they are, the better. If someone above Stage SSS exists, I may finally find the opportunity I need to break through."
It wasn't boasting.
The Beast Sovereign had been stuck at the peak of Tier 47 for far too long. No one could understand how desperately it wanted to take that final step.
Unfortunately, it had never encountered a being above Stage SSS. Trying to find the path alone might never lead anywhere, even if it spent the rest of its life searching.
If it could meet someone at a higher Stage, it might break through quickly. Its foundation had long since become more than sufficient.
"Good. Then I'll head back first. The passage connecting the Eldoria Continent to our world is in the Southern Region. Once it opens, enter through there. I'll find you as soon as you arrive."
"All right." The Beast Sovereign nodded.
"Oh, one more thing. I'm on good terms with the Azure Nereids in the Southern Region and the Aurelians in the Western Region. They'll also be heading to my world once the passages open, so don't wipe them out."
"Don't worry. Aside from the pinnacle races and a portion of the higher races, I intend to leave the others alone. The Eldoria Continent would be boring if only beasts remained. It wouldn't be good for its development either."
"Good to hear."
"I'm off."
Ethan waved a hand, opening a dimensional rift, then stepped inside.
As it watched him disappear, envy filled the Beast Sovereign's eyes.
That spatial-type ability was seriously badass.
"Ethan really is a good person," the Dire Bear said.
"Yeah. Without him, the beast races would probably be finished," the Dire Eagle agreed.
"That's true. Without him, this war wouldn't have started nearly as quickly," the Beast Sovereign said with a sigh.
"Huh?"
"Beast Sovereign, are you saying those intelligent races were telling the truth? Ethan really did provoke the war?"
"Of course it was him. Who else would do something like that?" the Beast Sovereign said calmly.
"…"
"Then did he kill the Netherfang Tiger too?"
"I'm not sure about that. Every piece of evidence surrounding the Netherfang Tiger's death points to those two outsiders. Nothing connects Ethan to it.
"Still, the intelligent races kept denying they were responsible, so there may have been more to the incident than we realized." The Beast Sovereign considered the question.
"If Ethan did kill the Netherfang Tiger, what would you do?" the Frostfox asked quietly.
"What is there to do? We traded one Netherfang Tiger for the destruction of the pinnacle races. Could there possibly be a better bargain?" The Beast Sovereign laughed.
"Even if Ethan hadn't started this war, it would've happened eventually. Those races have coveted our crystal cores for years. The only reason they never attacked was because they weren't certain they could win.
"The moment they became confident they could deal with me, they would've launched an assault.
"That was why I deliberately escalated the conflict. I wanted the war to happen sooner. I didn't know what those scheming bastards were planning, and the longer we waited, the worse our position would become."
"So Ethan provoking the war played right into your hands?" the Frostfox asked.
"Exactly. He truly was the savior the heavens sent us. Without him, the beast races would have suffered a crushing defeat.
"He saved me, and he saved all of you. If he hadn't held back the Stoneborn Patriarch, the final battle never would've gone so smoothly."
The others nodded in complete agreement.
"And he personally killed seven or eight Stage SSS enemies during the war, then gave all their bodies to us," the Dire Eagle said emotionally. "I'm honestly about to cry just thinking about it…"
"All you need to remember is that Ethan is the benefactor of the beast races," the Beast Sovereign said. "From now on, his affairs are our affairs."
"Yes, Beast Sovereign!"
"By the way, could you take us to his world too?" one of the beasts asked. "We'd like to see it for ourselves."
"We'll see. If we kill the remaining two Tier 47 fighters before the Void Realm passages open, I'll take you with me. If not, you'll have to stay here."
"Fine. We'll start searching right now! We'll mobilize every beast on the Eldoria Continent. We're definitely going to find them!"
