Chapter 451: Chapter 451: Hail

The two of them went downstairs, one after the other. The first floor was empty.

During dinner last night, Lily Hart had said that with the recent natural disasters, there were fewer customers, so there was no need to open so early.

That’s why Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs were sleeping in without a worry. The other shop owners also listened.

They didn’t open their shops early.

So, at ten o’clock, the lottery shop opened for business.

Frost Shaw made breakfast for Lily Hart and quickly returned to his convenience store.

When Roman Rowe arrived, the first thing he saw was Lily Hart’s leftover plates, and he instantly felt like the sky was falling.

’Owen Warren beat me to it yesterday, and someone beat me to it again today. Why is it so hard to make breakfast for Boss Hart?!’

He stormed into the kitchen, and one look at the traces left behind was all it took for him to know.

’It was Frost Shaw!’

Only he had this level of OCD. Anything he used had to be returned to its original spot, without the slightest deviation.

Even the kitchen knives had to be arranged in their original order, never out of place.

Usually, after others used the kitchen, Frost Shaw would always tidy up again. He couldn’t stand seeing things left around carelessly.

Roman Rowe, having found his answer, stormed back out. But the moment he saw Boss Hart’s smile...

...his tone softened considerably. "Lily Hart, what did you have for breakfast? Are you full? Should I make you something else?"

Lily Hart shot him a look and glanced at the three or four plates in front of her.

The meaning was obvious. "Are you trying to stuff me to death? I’ve eaten more than enough. Go make something for yourself."

Roman Rowe sighed. It seemed he had no other choice.

Lunch and dinner were always made by a few people together; only breakfast was a chance to wait on Lily Hart.

’I never thought that even this opportunity wouldn’t be left for me. It’s so infuriating.’

’I woke up early enough. I even checked when I came over—none of the shops were open yet.’

’I also made sure to look when I left my room, and Frost Shaw’s door was closed.’

’Could it be...’ A series of thoughts flashed through Roman Rowe’s mind!

’No way, impossible,’ Roman Rowe denied the thoughts in his head as he beat some eggs.

He shook his head, feeling like his brains were about to be scrambled as evenly as the eggs in the bowl.

Roman Rowe pushed aside the chaotic thoughts in his mind and pan-fried a few egg crepes for himself.

He brushed them with chili sauce. So fragrant!

Soft and tender with a slight chew, and with the boost from the chili sauce, it was incredibly appetizing.

Lily Hart watched him and felt she could eat a little more, so she reached out and tore off a small piece.

The two of them sat face to face, each holding an egg crepe. It was such a comfortable, simple life.

After finishing the small piece in her hand, Lily Hart refused to eat any more no matter what. She was truly full...

DING DONG... DING DONG... Lily Hart’s Light Brain chimed.

She glanced at it and saw, to her dismay, another flood of friend requests from Base Commanders. The world seemed to go dark for a moment.

’I just finished a batch yesterday, why is there another wave today?’ Helpless, she could only accept them one by one.

What followed were supply lists and deposits flung her way by the Base Commanders.

Some sent the supply list along with the full payment in points.

After all, Lily Hart had already set the prices for everything, and it was the same price for everyone.

The Base Commanders contacting her now had surely done their homework and were only doing this because they found the prices acceptable.

They didn’t have time to haggle with Lily Hart, either. So many people in their bases were waiting to be saved!

Lily Hart wiped her mouth, quickly stood up, and got out of the RV, full of fighting spirit and ready to work!

Without asking a single question, Roman Rowe packed the remaining egg crepes into a bag, tucked it inside his coat, and followed her.

He followed her all the way to the courier station, and Roman Rowe knew it was about the Base Commanders purchasing supplies again.

He couldn’t bear to watch Lily Hart rush about all by herself; he definitely had to help.

But his help alone wasn’t enough. He had to call for backup!

’Especially Frost Shaw. He got to cook such a nice meal, so there’s no way he’s getting out of doing some work!’

Very pettily, he called everyone and told them Boss Hart wanted them to come to the courier station to help.

As soon as they heard, they all came without a second thought.

Just as Lily Hart had the supplies for the first Base Commander ready and was about to ship them...

...she saw Frost Shaw and the others walk in from outside, their heads covered in white snow.

"It’s snowing again?" was Lily Hart’s first question.

It had been snowing when she went out with Owen Warren and the others yesterday, but it had stopped quickly.

Frost Shaw confirmed, "Yes, it’s snowing. But we’re here to help."

Lily Hart glanced at Roman Rowe, whose eyes darted away, resolutely avoiding her gaze.

"Alright then. I’ve shared the supply lists with you. Each of you can take one. Just check it off when you’re done so everyone knows."

Lily Hart knew the situation was urgent, so she didn’t waste words and quickly gave out the orders.

Everyone had some experience, and the process was simple: purchase the corresponding supplies from the Mall.

Pack them into a Space Ring, and then send the Space Ring to the corresponding address.

The group quickly got the hang of it.

Many hands make light work. Two hours later, this batch was done.

Although there were fewer offline customers, there was no shortage of online ones. As soon as the shops opened, people started ordering takeout.

So at least there was business to keep the shop owners from being too idle.

Therefore, Sylvia Jarvis (at the courier station) didn’t feel it was any different from usual.

It was just as busy.

Her job done, Lily Hart slipped away and opened the small door of the courier station. When she saw the scene outside, she froze.

This wasn’t just snow, this was goddamn hail! Each one was as big as an egg.

The kind that could kill a person with a single hit.

It was all because the courier station’s soundproofing and protection were too good; everyone had been busy inside, completely oblivious.

She wasn’t worried about how she would get back, but rather about the vast number of survivors out there.

’Great,’ she thought sarcastically. ’Now on top of the low temperatures, they also have to endure a sudden hailstorm.’

’I just hope everyone has a sturdy shelter.’

But... that was obviously impossible.

For many survivors, even having a thatched hut was already an incredible feat.

In the summer, it could at least block the sun, and they could sleep more soundly at night.

But now, once the hail came, it was all over. A thatched hut would become a pile of thatch.

Thin iron sheds would become piles of scrap metal. Only brick or wooden houses would be slightly better off.

*Sigh*. When it rains, it pours, Lily Hart couldn’t help but sigh.

Watching the impact of each hailstone hitting the ground, she saw they were gouging small pits in the muddy earth.

Even Lily Hart found it alarming to watch. Thankfully, her shops were sturdy.

Otherwise, they would have been dented with one small pit after another.

"Let’s go. Back home," Lily Hart announced.

That was a simple matter. Frost Shaw directly conjured a huge, thin sheet of ice, holding it over everyone’s heads like an umbrella.

When the hailstones hit the thin ice, they melted away miraculously, like raindrops falling into the ocean.

They caused no damage at all. It was safe to say that Frost Shaw was the one least affected by this natural disaster.

As an Ice Ability User, he actually felt more comfortable in this kind of environment.

And so the group returned slowly to the lottery shop, sheltered under the thin sheet of ice Frost Shaw had created.

While she was at the courier station, the lottery shop was naturally being run by Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs.

The group of survivors who had rested at the high-speed rail station last night all came scurrying over the moment they saw the shop was open.
