Chapter 440: Chapter 440: Sudden Drop in Temperature

She always told him to eat more, but it was like he could never gain weight.

It wasn’t cold inside the factory, so he was only wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, which made him look even thinner.

Lily Hart couldn’t help but frown, reaching out to pinch his arm. "You’re too skinny. Eat more."

Caught off guard by the pinches, Seth froze for a second before subconsciously replying, "I already eat a lot. I just don’t gain weight."

It sounded like a humblebrag, but some people really were just like that...

Lily Hart offered her theory. "You’re definitely not eating enough."

"Then I’ll eat more?" Seth asked hesitantly. ’Is she trying to fatten me up like a pig?’

Still, this feeling of being nagged at, of being cared for, was actually quite nice.

Lily Hart nodded emphatically. Just as she was about to say something else, a shout came from the window.

"Boss, do you have any thicker clothes? The temperature suddenly dropped!" a man yelled.

’A temperature drop?’ Lily Hart glanced at the temperature displayed on her Light Brain. It had been holding steady at early-winter levels.

The temperature had been hovering around 10 degrees, but in just a short while, it had suddenly plunged below zero?!

’Is it always this erratic?’

But Seth was used to it. He explained, "It’s been like this for the past few years. Even though it’s only October, the temperature will just keep getting lower from here on out."

"And it happens without any warning—a total flash freeze," Seth said as he started looking for thick clothes for them.

Lily Hart had heard Frost Shaw say something similar before, but the temperature had been so stable for so long.

So she hadn’t given it much thought. She never expected it to drop so suddenly, all in the time it took to exchange a few words with Seth.

It had been fine right before she entered the factory...

After several upgrades, the clothing production line could now make thermal wear. Its daily output had no upper limit; as long as the machine was running, it could keep producing.

However, not every piece of clothing was thermal wear. It appeared based on a probability.

But Seth always set the thermal wear aside to sell to those who needed it.

He had stockpiled dozens of large burlap sacks full of it.

Seth dragged all the sacks out, and Lily Hart pitched in to help.

With the sudden drop in temperature, the customers outside were all scrambling to buy.

If they didn’t buy now, they’d freeze to death!

Lily Hart checked the temperature again. It was 0 degrees just a moment ago, and now it was negative five!

’Damn, this temperature is dropping fast.’ Standing by the window, Lily Hart could feel the cold wind whistling in.

Seth looked up from a pile of clothes and casually pulled out a jacket.

He walked over and handed it to Lily Hart. "Here, put this on for now. Don’t catch a cold."

Lily Hart accepted it without hesitation and put it on. Instantly, she didn’t feel cold anymore.

Seth sold the thermal wear piece by piece, and the dozens of sacks were emptied in a flash.

But it was far from enough. There were too many people in Central Command! Shouldn’t everyone at least have one piece?

So the production line churned away diligently, and Seth sold frantically.

Elder Shaw also contacted Lily Hart. He didn’t beat around the bush, getting straight to the point. "I hear you have thermal wear?"

He must have seen the temperature drop and knew he had to take immediate action.

Not everyone could afford clothes, so those people had to rely on the base for aid.

Lily Hart was just as direct, quoting her price immediately. "That’s right. One Crystal Core per piece. If you buy a lot, I could probably do two for that."

"Fine. I’ll take as many as you have," Elder Shaw said magnanimously.

Now that The Mysterious Clan was no longer interfering, they could use Crystal Cores freely.

"You got it~" Lily Hart’s voice was cheerful. Another side gig.

She hung up and immediately told Seth the good news. He happily agreed.

But Seth said, "The appearance rate for thermal wear is still too low. It used to be one in ten, and now it’s one in five. It would be great if we could upgrade it another level."

Lily Hart agreed. ’They’re all just clothes, why should some be better than others?’

’And this whole probability thing is just ridiculous!’

She interrogated the system, "Are there any other ways to upgrade the production line?"

"Yes... Just feed it a ton of Crystal Cores," the system replied weakly.

Lily Hart paused. ’What a simple and unadorned method.’ But it made sense. And as it happened, she had plenty in her dimensional space.

She went behind the machine by herself. There was a small, square-shaped slot for depositing Crystal Cores.

So she pulled a small sack of Crystal Cores from her space and unceremoniously dumped them in.

After she finished, there was still no reaction. Lily Hart frowned. ’Not enough?’

So she took out another small sack of Crystal Cores and dumped them in. Finally, there was a small reaction.

Up front, Seth started yelling, "Huh? Why is there so much thermal wear all of a sudden? It’s practically every other piece!"

Lily Hart breathed a sigh of relief. ’Finally, some progress.’ Otherwise, she wasn’t sure if she had enough Crystal Cores to feed the machine.

She put the sack away, dusted off her hands, and stood up. "Yep, that was me, hehe~"

Her tone rose at the end, a little proud and smug.

Seth smiled. ’So that’s what she was doing behind the machine.’ She’d gone to feed it Crystal Cores.

No wonder so much thermal wear had suddenly appeared. A warmth spread through his chest.

But there was no time to think any more about it. More customers had arrived outside, needing to buy thermal wear.

The temperature had already dropped to negative ten degrees, and Lily Hart’s mood grew heavy.

If the temperature kept dropping like this, what would happen to the people permanently stationed outside the base?

’Will they freeze to death?’

The survivors inside the base at least had roofs over their heads to shield them from the wind and rain. But some people outside had nothing but a single blanket and a sleeping mat.

Lily Hart forced herself to stop imagining. She couldn’t help that many people; she could only focus on what was in front of her.

After helping Seth sell clothes for a while longer, Lily Hart finally left the factory.

The temperatures inside and outside were completely different—one warm, one freezing.

Lily Hart was wearing thermal clothing, so only her exposed skin felt the cold. She rubbed her hands together and kept walking.

The next shop was a hardware store. Molly Mason was standing at the entrance, her face etched with worry.

Her face broke into a smile only when she saw Lily Hart. She subconsciously fiddled with her bangs and raised a hand in greeting. "Boss Hart~"

Lily Hart pulled two long-style thermal garments from her space.

She handed them to her. "It’s so cold out here. Why are you just standing around? Quickly, put this on."

The body of a superpower user was much hardier than a normal person’s, even at negative ten degrees.

She was only wearing a thin jacket and thin pants, and only felt a little chilly.

But how could she refuse Lily Hart’s kindness? She immediately took the clothes and put them on.

The moment she put it on, she could feel the difference. Her eyes lit up. "Is this that legendary thermal wear?"

"Yep," Lily Hart nodded. "How is it? Not cold at all anymore, right?"

Molly Mason nodded vigorously. She even felt a little hot. ’It would be so great if everyone had one of these.’

At that thought, she sighed again. ’Pure wishful thinking.’

’Clothes this good must be expensive.’

"This has never happened before. At most, the temperature would drop two or three degrees in a day. But this year... the drop is a bit too extreme," Molly Mason said worriedly.

She had come out to see what was going on because she felt the temperature change, and she had been keeping an eye on it ever since.
