Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Cynthia Whittaker

Her features weren’t stunning, but they were very pleasant to look at when put together. Her large eyes were especially eye-catching—very round, dark, and bright.

Frost Shaw was leaning against the cash register. He saw the two and raised a hand in greeting as Lily Hart led the person inside.

"This is my partner at the convenience store, Frost Shaw. And this is the owner of the hot pot restaurant, Cynthia Whittaker." Lily Hart repeated the line she often used.

Cynthia Whittaker shuffled a small step closer to Lily Hart. Meeting Frost Shaw’s slightly probing gaze, she nodded at him as a greeting.

Frost Shaw hesitated. "Cynthia Whittaker? The Seventh Rank Wind Ability User? Is that you on the rankings?"

"That’s me." Cynthia Whittaker nodded, her expression unsurprised as she calmly admitted it. It was Lily Hart who was a little surprised. ’Another powerhouse has joined my side!’

Roman Rowe looked at Cynthia Whittaker, then at Frost Shaw. "How did you know it was her?!"

"I had the good fortune of seeing her before." Frost Shaw gave Cynthia Whittaker a meaningful look before withdrawing his gaze and speaking flatly.

Cynthia Whittaker said, "I know you, too. The Seventh-rank Ice Ability User, Frost Shaw."

Frost Shaw shrugged. "I’m at the Peak of Eighth Rank now."

A sense of crisis immediately washed over Cynthia Whittaker. ’The people around Boss Hart aren’t just good-looking, they’re also incredibly strong. I have to train hard too, I can’t be left behind!’

"Get her a room. Same layout and size as yours is fine. Preferably with a private bathroom," Lily Hart said.

"Okay." Frost Shaw agreed. It was a small task, and he finished it in a flash. After tapping away on his Light Brain, he said, "Done."

Lily Hart turned and took Cynthia Whittaker’s hand, saying enthusiastically, "Come on, I’ll take you up to see it."

Cynthia Whittaker giggled, her round eyes crinkling with a smile as she followed a little closer. ’Boss Hart’s hands are so soft, and she smells so nice.’

The stairs were right behind the cash register, and the two of them walked up side by side.

Roman Rowe and Frost Shaw stood there, arms slung over each other’s shoulders, watching the two women go upstairs hand in hand.

Roman Rowe sighed for no particular reason. "Man, suddenly I feel like it wouldn’t be so bad to be a girl."

"..." Frost Shaw didn’t want to talk, but he was a little envious. Lily Hart had no sense of boundaries with other women; holding hands and being close were normal for her.

With men, however, she had some—but not many.

Though she might occasionally and unintentionally get a little handsy with them, both sides would pretend not to notice.

Upstairs, Lily Hart unerringly found the newly prepared room at the very end of the hall. She pushed the door open to reveal a warm, bright space with a large floor-to-ceiling window.

The bedding was a simple, neutral style, suitable for anyone. Further inside, there was a wardrobe, a desk, a chair, and a sofa—all the basic furniture was there.

Cynthia Whittaker’s nose suddenly tingled, her eyes growing hot. A feeling of overwhelming happiness filled her heart, like a little kitten that had been wandering for a long time had finally found a home.

Lily Hart was still talking beside her. "It’s a bit plain. If you need anything, just tell Frost Shaw, and he’ll buy it for you."

"WAAAH—" Cynthia Whittaker couldn’t hold it in anymore. She threw her arms around Lily Hart and burst into tears, smearing snot and tears all over her shoulder.

Lily Hart, caught in the sudden embrace, held her hands awkwardly in the air for a moment before gently patting Cynthia’s back. "Don’t cry, don’t cry. The best is yet to come~"

Cynthia Whittaker just needed to let out her emotions. Hearing that, she immediately started to pull herself together. ’Right, the best is yet to come.’

’I can’t cry every time.’

She was now crying and laughing at the same time. Lily Hart grabbed a tissue and wiped her tears away, coaxing her in a soft voice, "There, there, no more crying now. This is your first day in your new home!"

"Okay, no more crying," Cynthia Whittaker sniffled, nodding repeatedly.

The two looked at each other, and Cynthia Whittaker burst out laughing with a PUFF. A snot bubble even appeared, and she quickly covered her nose with the tissue, giggling.

Cynthia Whittaker took another look around the room, liking it more and more. ’What a miserable life I was living before! I’m going to live here forever!’

Lily Hart glanced at the time. It was two in the afternoon. "Do you want to rest for a bit? Or you can come hang out at the lottery shop with me. Or go to the hot pot restaurant, if you want."

Cynthia Whittaker immediately said, "I’ll go to the lottery shop with you!"

The two went downstairs. Before heading out, Cynthia Whittaker glanced back at her room one last time. It all felt like a dream.

The convenience store was crowded with people who had come all the way from Steadfast Base, drawn by its reputation. As Cynthia Whittaker left the store, her eyes kept darting toward the shelves.

Lily Hart noticed and gave her a friendly nudge with her elbow. "Grab whatever you want to eat. You get an employee discount, and you’ll have a salary. I’ll wait for you at the lottery shop."

Hearing that, Cynthia Whittaker’s face lit up. She squeezed back into the crowd and bought a huge pile of snacks and some daily necessities.

She then dashed upstairs, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, carrying the bag of necessities, opened her door to drop them inside, then jogged over to the lottery shop with a big bag of snacks, full of energy.

Her chin-length bob swayed as she moved, like the floppy ears of a rabbit.

She quickly carried her snacks over, but as she got close to the RV, she stopped involuntarily. "Huh? Why is there no one in the RV?"

’With that thought,’ she still followed her memory to the vehicle’s door, opened it, and stepped inside. After passing through the entryway, she was surprised to see Boss Hart sitting on the sofa.

A smile instantly appeared on her face. "Lily, so you were in here."

Cynthia Whittaker walked over quickly and plopped down beside her, their arms touching. She placed the big bag of snacks on her lap.

Rummaging through the bag, she asked, "What do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you."

Lily Hart glanced over, her eyes picking out something on top. "Just that bag of crispy noodles," she said casually.

Cynthia Whittaker immediately found it and handed it to her, grabbing another bag of the same kind for herself. Just as she was about to tear it open, she saw Lily press her palms together and forcefully crush the bag of noodles between them.

The poor crispy noodles let out a series of CRUNCH, CRUNCH sounds, unable to bear the pressure.

Then, Lily Hart tore it open along the perforated line, tilted her head back, and poured the contents straight into her mouth with a CRUNCH, CRUNCH.

You could see the crushed noodles pouring into her mouth like a flood, where she chewed them with her iron-like jaws.

’Wow, so cool.’ Cynthia Whittaker immediately copied her, but her jaw got tired after chewing for a bit.

As she ate, Cynthia Whittaker started giggling foolishly for no reason. She just felt so happy, like she was the luckiest person alive.

"Lily, there’s a crazy guy here," Diana Sharp suddenly said, turning to wave at Lily Hart.

Lily Hart poured the last of the crispy noodles into her mouth, stood up, and walked over, tossing the empty bag into the trash on her way.

Cynthia Whittaker quickly followed, worried she might run into danger. ’After all, I’m a Seventh-rank Superpower User. I can handle a thing or two.’

Outside the RV was a sloppy old man with messy, greasy hair and dirty clothes, waving his arms around frantically.

He was shouting, "The apocalypse is coming! Humanity is doomed! Everyone, run, run for your lives!"

The surrounding customers frowned and backed away, giving him a wide berth to let him be crazy.

Just as Lily Hart was about to speak, Cynthia Whittaker grabbed her wrist. "Lily, he’s a madman."

"A lot of people at Steadfast Base know him. He’s been crazy for years, just repeats those same few lines every day."

Lily Hart was taken aback, her reply startling. "Then how hasn’t he starved to death yet?"
