Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Relying on Lily Hart

Elder Shaw casually remarked, "Why would they hold back? They’re no longer dependent on The Mysterious Clan for supplies."

They rely on Lily Hart.

Everyone knew this.

However, the more remote bases, which didn’t even have signal towers, were still being supplied by The Mysterious Clan.

Lena Corbin was suddenly at a loss for words. Lily Hart was indeed the biggest wildcard.

Chad Yates tried to smooth things over. "How do you all think Lily Hart managed this? We’re talking about The Mysterious Clan. Their security must be incredibly tight, right?"

Based on the common impression.

Lily Hart, who had actually been there, begged to differ. ’Actually, it wasn’t. The security wasn’t tight at all, and with my system as a cheat, I could easily bypass all the traps.’

Elder Shaw thought to himself, ’If you all could figure Lily Hart out, would she still be Lily Hart?’

The little meeting ended without any resolution. They had no way to solve the issue, nor did they dare to ban the software.

Even more, they didn’t dare offend The Mysterious Clan or Lily Hart, so they had to feign ignorance.

But Elder Shaw’s final words left them all deep in thought.

He had gazed out the window toward the lottery shop and slowly said, "It’s time for Central Command to pick a side."

Pick a side? ’Hasn’t The Mysterious Clan always been the one backing us?’

Could the other side Elder Shaw was referring to be... Lily Hart?

But... Lily Hart was just one person. The Mysterious Clan had deep foundations, far beyond what she alone could ever match.

...

Inside the lottery shop, Lily Hart had even set up a television, using her Light Brain to cast the surveillance footage in real time.

The Shaw and White Families soon learned that they were being live-streamed for the entire network to see.

Their first instinct was to dismantle the cameras, but they quickly heard about the Second Elder of the Rivers Family, who had been injured by an explosion while trying to do just that.

For a time, no one dared to act rashly. Thus, a stalemate ensued, and they did their best to avoid walking anywhere with a camera.

But the cameras were everywhere. Dodge one, and there was another. Avoid this one, and you couldn’t avoid that one.

Cheryl Rivers was resting in bed, her previous injuries finally on the mend. Bored out of her mind, she was scrolling through her Light Brain.

She had her own account on the Human Social Sphere, where she often posted glamorous photos, attracting a large following of female fans.

Just as she was about to log off, a video caught her attention. Cheryl Rivers clicked on it.

The more she watched, the more shocked she became. ’Wait, isn’t that our back garden? And isn’t that my third uncle? What is going on?’

She glanced at the scrolling comments below, which were all in the same vein...

"This is hilarious."

"Is this streaming 24/7?"

"Hopping over to the next stream~"

Cheryl Rivers was dumbfounded. She quickly found the live stream they were talking about.

She also found the feed showing her room. Her head snapped up, her eyes landing on an inconspicuous camera on top of the wardrobe.

She broke out in a cold sweat. ’Have I... been watched this entire time?’

And on the screen, the girl on the bed instantly looked up. After a moment of searching, her gaze fixed, staring tensely at the camera.

And at you, the one watching the live stream.

Cheryl Rivers glanced back down at her Light Brain and, just as she expected, a few more comments floated by.

"Whoa, she made eye contact with me!"

"This girl is pretty. Her hair looks so soft!"

"You can tell she hasn’t struggled in the apocalypse. Who has enough water to wash their hair!"

Cold sweat kept trickling down Cheryl Rivers’s back. The more she thought about it, the more horrifying it became. It was bone-chilling.

She remembered the video from earlier. ’The cameras explode if you try to remove them? What am I supposed to do?’

Just as she was wondering, there was a knock at the door. "Come in," Cheryl Rivers called out.

A female elder of the family entered. She first scanned the room, her face darkening after she spotted two cameras.

She warned Cheryl Rivers to be careful with her words and actions from now on, telling her not to make a single misstep.

After all, eyes were watching them at every moment. With that warning delivered, the elder left.

Cheryl Rivers no longer wanted to stay in the room. It made her skin crawl; it felt like a pair of eyes was constantly watching her.

But looking at her Light Brain, she saw it wasn’t just her room; the entire Rivers Family estate was covered!

This... ’This is terrifying! Who on earth has this kind of power?’

The elders of the Rivers Family were also discussing countermeasures, naturally in a small corner. This was far too passive!

"Why don’t we cover them up?" an elder suggested.

"Didn’t you hear what the Shaw Family said? Covering them doesn’t work!"

"Then what are we supposed to do? We can’t dismantle them, and we can’t cover them! So what’s the plan?"

One elder timidly suggested, "What if we move? I remember we still have that property on the west side of the city."

"Is that place even livable? We haven’t been there in years! No one’s maintained it; it must be covered in a thick layer of dust!"

"But there aren’t any cameras there..."

They were at a loss.

...

The White Family couldn’t come up with a plan either. They even went so far as to ask the other families how they were dealing with it.

This incident led to a rare show of unity among the four families. Ash O’Malley wasn’t in a position to make decisions, so he could only watch the situation develop.

He also sent a message to Lily Hart, warning her to be careful. A united front from The Mysterious Clan was a serious threat.

Lily Hart replied with a simple "Thanks" after receiving the message. ’It was a kind reminder, wasn’t it?’

But she wasn’t worried. Even if they did try to remove the cameras, they would pay a price.

Her objective had more or less been achieved.

’I bet they won’t dare plant any more spies now!’

With this in mind, Lily Hart looked up and glanced outside. There were no more suspicious people in sight.

’Good.’ She nodded in satisfaction. Catching the sweet scent of corn, she knew Roman Rowe was making soup again.

’I spent the whole day watching shows, time flew by so fast. It’s already evening in the blink of an eye~’

Just as she was about to check on the kitchen, she heard a noise outside.

Lily Hart focused her attention. ’Did someone scratch off another big prize?’ she wondered, moving to the counter.

A customer outside exclaimed in surprise, "Boss Hart, can you teleport?"

"We were just looking for you, and then you suddenly appeared!"

Lily Hart smiled. "You all looked so happy, I had to come out and see what was going on."

A customer raised his hand. "I-I won a prize! But it’s a little strange..."

"What’s strange about it?" Lily Hart asked curiously. Then she saw the customer pull out a stick.

The top of the stick was packed with dense straw tied into an oval shape, taking up about a fifth of the stick’s length.

Just like... the stick an old man holds to sell sugar-coated haws!

She took the customer’s prize card and looked at it. It was indeed for that, only it wasn’t a machine, but a sales tool.

Lily Hart carefully read the instructions below. It required Crystal Cores to operate.

It could produce one hundred sugar-coated haws per day! ’Wow!’

Lily Hart started drooling. She vaulted right over the counter. The customer, seeing this, quickly handed the stick to her.

She took it and examined it from all angles, finding a switch and a slot for Crystal Cores beneath the straw.

"Do you have a Crystal Core? Let’s try one out," Lily Hart asked the customer.

The customer immediately handed one over. Lily Hart inserted it, and it quickly dissolved into wisps of white light as it was absorbed.

She then flicked the switch, and a familiar CLICK echoed.
