Chapter 274 -230: He Runs, He Chases

Without a doubt.

“So you’re the boss…”

Lin Fan slowly raised his spear, aiming it across the rooftop at the middle-aged man. A smirk played on his lips.

“You’re a fast runner. Trying to make a run for it?”

“You… How did you get up here?!”

The boss stared at the mountain of muscle who had just dropped out of the sky, steam radiating from his entire body. He was so terrified it felt like his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.

This was a rooftop more than ten meters high! Even the agile Zheng Lv had to kick off the wall twice and dig his bone claws into the crevices just to get up here.

‘But this kid… he just jumped straight up here?!’

‘What kind of monster is he? Can he fly?’

“Run! Faster!”

The boss instantly panicked. His greatest asset—that invincible giant boar—couldn’t fly and was stuck on the ground below, eating dust!

As for himself, he was, at best, just an ordinary man with some extra strength. He relied entirely on his zombies to fight. How could he possibly be a match for this brute?

He didn’t even have time to spout any threats. He slapped the “mount” beneath him, pointed northeast, and shrieked, his voice cracking, “That way! Go!!”

“ROAR!” Receiving their orders, the two Bone Spur Zombies dug their long, slender bone claws into the corrugated steel roof. They moved like giant geckos, traversing the wet, slippery rooftop as if it were solid ground. With a single bound, they covered seven or eight meters, scrambling madly toward the northeast!

‘Trying to run?’

Lin Fan snorted, his leg muscles tensing once more. Strength Crystal, stacked with a Strength Potion!

Fueled by the dual buffs, his legs became like a pair of powerful springs.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Every step was filled with power.

He slammed down onto the corrugated steel roof, far less light and agile than the two Bone Spur Zombies.

In fact, to prevent his explosive force from sending him straight through the roof, Lin Fan had to divert his concentration to land precisely on the thick steel support beams below the panels.

With every landing, the steel beams beneath his feet let out a cringe-inducing groan, and the steel tiles were crushed to pieces.

One man and two zombies, a life-and-death parkour chase unfolded across the factory rooftop in the pouring rain.

“Stay back! Get away from me!!”

The boss, riding on the zombie’s back, glanced over his shoulder and saw the demon tailing him like a ghost that couldn’t be shaken off. The distance between them was closing, little by little! In a fit of sheer panic, he raised his rifle and frantically squeezed the trigger at the figure behind him.

RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!

The muzzle flashed as bullets whistled through the air. Since they were moving at high speed, most of the rounds slammed into the rooftop, kicking up showers of sparks. However, a few stray bullets still managed to strike Lin Fan in the chest and shoulder.

THUD! THUD!

There was no clang of metal on metal, only the muffled thud of bullets digging into high-density muscle.

[-8] [-6] [-9]

Single-digit damage numbers appeared. The rifle bullets, which could easily pierce an ordinary person, only managed to embed themselves in the tough, steel-like surface layer of Lin Fan’s muscles. They drew small bursts of blood but were stopped dead by his muscle fibers before they could even touch bone.

Lin Fan felt the trivial sting of pain but didn’t even frown.

‘Maintaining this speed requires me to keep the Strength Crystal active, and I’ve already used a lot of energy during that last fight. Better to conserve it where I can.’

‘Besides, with my health pool of nearly two thousand, this ‘tickle’ damage is nothing. He could empty a whole clip into me and it wouldn’t matter.’

He casually reached out and plucked a bullet from his pectoral muscle. Watching the pathetic figure fleeing before him, the killing intent in his eyes intensified.

“…We’ll see how far you can run.”

One fled, the other gave chase.

The pursuit led them from the factory district to the main road, and from the road to the riverbank.

They followed the riverbank north and were about to reach the next crossing, the Boundary River Bridge.

“Stop him!! Stop him for me!”

Watching Lin Fan draw closer and closer, the boss finally snapped and let out a hysterical shriek.

“ROAR!!” The male Bone Spur Zombie that had been guarding his flank received the order. It screeched to a halt, spun around, and let out a bloodcurdling roar.

It felt no fear, only the instinct to obey. It kicked off the ground with all four limbs, shooting forward like a white cannonball to meet Lin Fan’s charge in a suicidal counterattack!

“Get out of my way!”

A fierce light glinted in Lin Fan’s eyes. He swung his spear violently, aiming to shatter the incoming bone spur on its forelimb.

However, the bone spurs of this three-thousand-health mutant were far stronger than any Bone Spur Zombie Lin Fan had encountered before. His spear, empowered by a charged impact, struck the spur but only managed to annihilate the energy flowing around it. The two forces collided and recoiled, failing to break the bone.

The zombie, feeling no fear, was undeterred. With one claw blocked, it immediately stabbed forward with the others!

‘So you’re just going to pester me, huh!’

Lin Fan’s brow furrowed as he dodged and counterattacked. The interception inevitably slowed him down, tying him up at the base of the bridge.

He watched as the boss and his zombie mount rushed onto the bridge. A large section was missing from the middle of the broken bridge, creating a gap seven or eight meters wide. Below, the river churned violently, and on the far side, a dense horde of zombies blocked the other end.

“So long, friend!” The boss looked back and saw Lin Fan was tied down. A look of ecstatic relief spread across his face. He even had the presence of mind to flip him the middle finger. “Wait for me! When I get back, I’ll peel your skin and turn you into a trophy…”

‘You think you’re coming back?’

Lin Fan’s spear thrust toward the zombie’s head was parried by a sharp claw. Following the motion, he brought the spear crashing down. The force of the impact slammed into the zombie’s back, instantly splitting its skin and tearing its flesh as its entire torso was smashed into the ground!
