Chapter 269: Chapter 228: No Martial Virtue (Part 2)

But if he was going to fight, he needed to be certain he could win.

And how could he be certain?

By thinning their ranks first. Better to sever one finger than to injure all ten.

To be honest, Lin Fan hadn’t gotten a clear look at the woman’s earlier sneak attack. The immense force had slammed into his axe, carving a deep gash into the incredibly hard metal. Based on Lin Fan’s experience, it must have been an energy-enhanced attack.

The speed and ferocity of that blow were unmatched by anyone Lin Fan had ever encountered.

But in terms of technique, she was far inferior to Su Qing.

People like them were used to looking down on others, slaughtering the weak. They were nothing more than butchers, accustomed to simply crushing their opponents.

When it came to combat, even the most skilled butcher was no match for a good hunter. But any good hunter, if they so chose, could become a skilled butcher.

"My new look... doesn’t it scare you, little brother?" Zheng Lv, now a bone monster, spoke in a voice as deep as rolling thunder. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, where countless sharp, interlocking bone spurs formed an impenetrable wall of thorns.

Her scarlet eyes were fixed on Lin Fan, but the words coming from her mouth were utterly incongruous with her appearance. "I’m even wilder in bed..."

Hearing this, Lin Fan looked her up and down again. He saw that her Energy Value had already dropped by a third and was continuing to fall slowly.

’Looks like maintaining this form consumes a massive amount of energy. And this suit of bone armor must be the limit of her defense.’

"Ready?"

Lin Fan rubbed his hands together and hefted the great axe, asking the "bone-armored hedgehog" across from him,

"If you’re ready... then I’m coming in."

"Heh..." The bone monster’s spurs trembled as if she was genuinely amused. Then she tightened her arms, raised her head, and a red glint flashed in her scarlet eyes. "Bring it on!"

Lin Fan took half a step back. In a seemingly casual motion, he used his axe to knock a tea canister at his feet to the side. The canister immediately rolled into the standing water, letting out a series of crisp clatters.

CLATTER CLATTER...

It was the cheapest of baits, yet also the most lethal psychological suggestion.

Like a conditioned reflex, like Pavlov’s dogs, the bone monster and the effeminate man had their minds fixated on the crystals. Their eyes were involuntarily drawn by the sound, their gazes shifting sideways, even if only by half a meter...

Before the sound even faded, Lin Fan was there.

No fancy footwork, no bizarre movements—only the purest, most violent straight-line charge.

As he stomped his right foot down hard, the rain-soaked concrete beneath him instantly shattered. Shards of stone and sprays of water flew in all directions.

Using the reactive force, his entire body shot forward like a cannonball. He smashed through the curtain of rain, crossing the five-meter distance in an instant.

He held the silver great axe horizontally with both hands. Using the momentum of his charge, he swung it back behind him, drawing it back like a full moon. With the force to shatter mountains and split stone, the blow aimed straight for Zheng Lv’s defensive wall of countless bone spurs, ready to cleave her in two at the waist!

"Hmph!"

Zheng Lv, transformed into a bone monster, let out a low growl like rolling thunder.

Through her scarlet pupils, she clearly saw the trajectory of Lin Fan’s attack. It was a horizontal sweep, not the more threatening overhead chop.

This settled her final worry. ’Sure enough, this kid is just trying to get some payback,’ she thought, her confidence in blocking the attack soaring.

Watching the silver great axe disappear behind Lin Fan’s back as he gathered power, bone spurs shot out from her feet, digging into the concrete. She sank into a deep horse stance and thrust her enormous, crossed bone-arms forward to block!

The dense, barbed spurs glinted with a ghastly white light, each one as hard as steel. She was absolutely confident that not only would this axe fail to break her defense, it would even get hopelessly stuck in the complex structure of her spurs. And then... Tao He’s venom would erupt and spray onto him—a poison so potent it could corrode steel in an instant.

But suddenly, it was as if her eyes were playing tricks on her. She thought she saw the handle of the axe in Lin Fan’s hands... change...

From silver-white... to iron-black...

BOOM—!

A sound like a clap of thunder exploded in her ears!

Then, the "axe handle" in Lin Fan’s hands suddenly accelerated its swing!

A vast, suffocating shadow suddenly fell over her!

Wreathed in a cloud of mist!

...

That was no axe.

It was a pitch-black, heavy slab of iron with a rough, coarse texture—it looked less like a sword and more like a door panel!

The instant he twisted his arms behind his back, Lin Fan had switched weapons...

The moment the hundred-kilogram greatsword materialized in this world, its terrifying dead weight caused Lin Fan’s charging body to sink abruptly.

The ground beneath his feet couldn’t withstand this sudden, massive change in weight. With a CRACK, several more fissures erupted, kicking up a splash of rainwater.

But he exploited this downward momentum to its absolute limit!

His muscles tensed like iron, arresting his charge and channeling all the kinetic energy through his vein-popped arms, through his death grip on the thick hilt, and into the blade itself!

"I figured that little axe wouldn’t be enough to satisfy you,"

Lin Fan’s roar exploded in unison with the white shockwave created by the massive blade tearing through the air.

"So I got you a bigger one!"

The Impact Crystal was activated to its limit, as if his hands had seized a hurricane with a handle.

As the broadsword accelerated to its maximum velocity, a visible white vapor cone formed along its edge—a sonic boom!

Raindrops suspended in mid-air didn’t even have a chance to touch the blade. They were instantly shattered and vaporized by the terrifying wind pressure, transforming into a roaring white hammer that smashed violently toward the bone monster opposite him!
