The Diesel engine, which had been humming at a low idle, suddenly let out a ferocious roar!

Cheng Qi slammed the vehicle into reverse, floored the accelerator, and shot backward, charging straight at a young man on the road who was bent over, peering into an SUV window!

A single, crisp gunshot rang out without warning from a firing port on the side of the armored car’s rear compartment. The muzzle flash flickered for an instant in the curtain of rain and was gone.

The young man’s movements froze. A flower of blood bloomed on his chest as the immense kinetic energy ripped through his torso. His eyes widened, not even registering the pain before his body pitched forward stiffly, like a log being kicked over. He smashed face-first into a puddle between the two cars and went still.

WHOOSH— The off-road tires sliced through the puddle and rolled over the fallen spear, letting out two sharp CRUNCHES.

"Stop next to that car! Cover me!"

Ye Qingniao pulled her pistol back from the firing port and barked at Cheng Qi. She then threw open the rooftop hatch and scrambled up the ladder, bursting outside!

Seeing the armored car reverse and kill one of his men instead of moving forward, the middle-aged man was stunned for a moment before a vicious glint flashed in his eyes.

His reflexes were lightning-fast. He grabbed a subordinate next to him and tumbled clumsily behind the hood of a junked car at the side of the road.

"Boss Li, a gun!"

A young man crouching beside him with a spear shouted, his face pale with fright and his voice trembling.

"No shit! You think soldiers don’t have guns?"

The middle-aged man, Boss Li, backhanded him on the forehead and cursed impatiently.

"Where the hell do you think we got our guns!"

As he finished speaking, he saw the rooftop hatch open. He drew a black, standard-issue pistol from his waistband but didn’t fire. Instead, he waved his hand forcefully toward the distance.

As he gave the signal, a middle-aged man appeared at the corner of an alley. He was dressed like the others but wore a tactical vest and carried a marksman rifle with a scope. Boss Li then turned back and chambered a round in his pistol with a CLICK.

"This iron tortoise finally cracked open!"

The gunman was clearly a veteran. The moment he appeared, he shouldered the stock of his rifle. Without even needing to take much aim, he found his angle and pulled the trigger on Ye Qingniao, who had just popped her head out on top of the armored car!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Muzzle flashes tore through the rain as three 5.8mm rounds shot out at incredible speed, forming a triangular pattern that sealed off all of Ye Qingniao’s room to dodge!

Ye Qingniao’s pupils constricted.

She’d let her guard down, seeing them swaggering around with spears. She never imagined they had a gunman hidden away!

There was no time to get back inside the car! The flashes from the street corner... the whistle of death was already here!

The sharp pain from her shoulder made her falter, but she immediately raised the pistol in her left hand. She was injured, true, but the constitution of a seven-hundred-point Blood Awakened One was nothing to scoff at.

Firing three shots by pure instinct, she hit the concrete barrier on the street corner—the very same cover the gunman had popped out from—forcing the sniper, who was preparing a follow-up shot, to duck back into cover.

’I can’t believe it took that much energy just to deflect three bullets!’

"Gunman at two o’clock! Keep your head down!"

She roared through gritted teeth, but she didn’t stop. Seizing the moment of suppression, she kicked off with her legs, slid backward off the roof, and rolled onto the road behind the vehicle, out of the sniper’s line of fire. Then she sprinted toward the car holding the little girl.

"Boss! This bitch is a Superpower User, too!"

"No shit! I saw it!"

A fanatical greed shone in Boss Li’s eyes.
