Chapter 216: Chapter 206: Meeting in Hell (Part 2)

Meanwhile, Wang Yuanhua pulled Zhang Wenyuan from the assault vehicle and set him aside. Then, he and Xu Qian gripped the roof with both hands and heaved upward with all their might!

"Chuchu, a little help!"

Veins bulged on Wang Yuanhua’s neck as he spoke through gritted teeth, straining with the effort.

Seeing this, Chu Zhaozhao leaned against Su Qing for support. She stretched out a hand, gritted her teeth, and channeled the last of her energy to manipulate the vehicle’s structure and reduce its weight.

BOOM—CREEAAAK...

The heavy assault vehicle crashed to the ground, vibrating slowly and letting out a series of groans.

Though the body was covered in dents and a corner of the chassis was mangled, the main frame was intact. It could still be driven.

"How could you all... sigh."

Su Qing held Chu Zhaozhao’s arm, her gaze falling on the familiar, battered faces. An unprecedented wave of sorrow stung her nose, and her vision instantly blurred.

She said no more, just gritted her teeth against the pain and turned her head to stare at the gaping hole.

"Who’s driving?"

"That guy... Cheng Qi..." Xu Qian said.

As Wang Yuanhua helped him into the vehicle, Zhang Wenyuan angrily slammed his fist on the door, his voice trembling uncontrollably. "Cheng Qi! Dammit! That little bastard..."

The moment he heard it was Cheng Qi driving, he understood everything. He knew better than anyone what that kid was thinking. "Stop looking! He’s not planning on coming back!"

Zhang Wenyuan looked at the others staring at the hole and slammed his hand on the window, roaring, "Get in the car! Or he died for nothing! Go!"

Su Qing snapped back to her senses, roughly wiping the tears from her face, her hesitation gone.

She and Chu Zhaozhao helped each other into the back, squeezing in with the two unconscious people. Xu Qian stood on one of the bent running boards, holding onto Chu Zhaotian. Wang Yuanhua stood on the other, gripping the roll cage on the right side.

"Hold on tight!"

Liu Bin dove into the driver’s seat, cranked the ignition, and gripped the steering wheel tightly.

VROOM—ROAR!

He slammed on the gas. The engine let out a defiant roar, and a plume of black smoke spewed from the exhaust pipe.

The assault vehicle, now carrying seven people, lurched forward. It picked up speed, like a wounded wolf breaking through an encirclement, carrying a handful of souls who had clawed their way back from the edge of hell. It plunged into the curtain of rain, never looking back.

Behind it, the "cave" of ruins remained deathly still. The only sounds were water dripping from the reinforced concrete debris and the occasional flicker of a faint flame from the rows of wrecked cars embedded in the walls.

"Urrgh... urrgh..."

A moment later, a few tattered zombies staggered out of the opening.

CLICK.

One of them seemed to bump into a piece of rebar. That small impact became the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

The precarious balance was shattered in an instant.

BOOM—CRASH!!!

A collapse in one spot triggered a terrifying chain reaction. The entire "mountain range" of rubble, formed from collapsed buildings, disintegrated in the violent tremor!

Thousands of tons of reinforced concrete came crashing down like an avalanche, and the entire mountain of ruins instantly became a level shorter.

The rubble and broken walls completely sealed every hole and crevice, forming a high wall that blocked everything to the south.

...

The world was spinning.

Sitting in the driver’s seat of the armored vehicle, Cheng Qi figured he must be dead.

’Otherwise, why would a twenty-ton-plus "iron tortoise" be flying through the air?’

The monster’s shredded flesh was gone from the front of the vehicle. Outside the windshield, it was pitch black; he couldn’t see a thing. He shoved the door hard, but it was jammed by something outside and wouldn’t budge.

Ever since the vehicle had been struck by lightning, even the headlights were unreliable. Now, they weren’t responding at all.

He could only feel that he and his "iron tortoise" had been thrown into a giant dough mixer, churning along with the rhythm of some colossal beast.

He didn’t regret his decision. After all, from the little girl’s description, the monster—the one like Jiang Jing—was not something a few people like them could ever handle.

The assault vehicle was sturdy; a simple rollover wouldn’t kill the people inside. Besides, in the split second he’d passed them, he had seen that Zhang Wenyuan was still alive.

The people in the assault vehicle needed time to be rescued, and someone had to buy that time.

’Of course, it had to be me. Trading my life for the three people in the assault vehicle... no matter how you look at it, it’s a good deal. Not to mention, any delay could have brought new problems, and this way I also saved Lin Fan’s people.’

He had already fastened his seatbelt as tightly as possible before launching the suicide attack. So he leaned back, sat calmly in his seat, and experienced this novel form of death.

’So this is how it is... people who die in car crashes drive themselves to the underworld... huh?’

He was only halfway through this thought when he was suddenly hit by a feeling of weightlessness.

THUD. The armored vehicle beneath him felt like it had fallen from a great height, smashing heavily into a patch of mud with a violent jolt...

CREAK—BZZZT—

An electric hum sounded. The impact seemed to have jolted the armored vehicle’s headlights back to life. A brilliant white beam, like a sword of light, sliced through the darkness, illuminating what was ahead...

In the light, countless zombie corpses littered the ground, stretching all the way to the "walls." Those "walls" were woven from innumerable wrist-thick tentacles and branches, constantly writhing, enclosing the entire space and forming a black "cave."

The entire space was alive!

Only then did Cheng Qi realize he wasn’t dead at all. He had driven the armored vehicle straight into the "nest" woven by the monster!

"Fuck! I don’t want to end up like Jiang Jing!"

A chill ran through him. As the thought surfaced, he yanked the pistol from his waist and chambered a round.

Without hesitation, he turned the gun on himself, pressing the muzzle so hard against his temple that it left an imprint.

But suddenly, a strange figure appeared at the edge of the light...

’Is that Jiang Jing?’

He frowned, squinting to get a better look.

The body was bloated and terrifying, even stranger than the "Jiang Jing" from before. It actually had three arms and two heads. One arm was clenched into a fist, while the other two held a spear and a longsword, respectively, twisting bizarrely with its steps...

His finger was on the trigger, the muzzle pressed to his temple. Cold sweat trickled from the corner of his eye, stinging as it ran in.

But he didn’t pull it.

Because the more he looked, the more something felt wrong...

The monster walked with a steady gait, and it even occasionally sidestepped the blood and gore from the corpses on the ground...

’That’s...’

Cheng Qi squinted, trying to make out the dark silhouette within the blinding light through the filthy windshield.

As the figure drew closer step by step, the optical illusion caused by the glare began to fade. Before Cheng Qi’s shocked eyes, the terrifying silhouette began to... "deconstruct."

His hand went limp. The pistol pressed against his temple slipped, falling to the floor with a CLANG. His mouth slowly gaped open, wide enough to fit a grenade...

That wasn’t a two-headed monster at all!

It was two people!

One was Lin Fan... and the other, on his back... was Cyan Bird!!?

One second, the tough guy was ready to die a hero’s death. The next, he went limp in the driver’s seat like a boneless snake. His lips trembled for a long moment before he managed to squeeze out a cursed laugh thick with tears:

"...Fuck! What the hell!"

...

"Lin Fan, I think that’s my sister’s vehicle..."

Ye Qingniao had one arm around Lin Fan’s neck and her legs wrapped around his waist. The sleeves of a jacket tied around her waist further secured her firmly to his back.

She squinted, pointing toward the light with the hand that held Lin Fan’s longsword, and spoke suspiciously.

"What do you mean ’I think’? Look at the crooked cannon barrel. That’s definitely..."

Lin Fan raised his spear, warily scanning his surroundings as he slowly approached the armored vehicle that had fallen from the sky.

The two of them had been trapped in here for so long. Finally, something that wasn’t a zombie had come in from the outside. Even if it was a trap, they had to go check it out!

’But how did this thing fall from the sky?’

Lin Fan looked up. Just like the walls, the entire dome above was sealed off by countless, densely packed tentacles and branches...
