Chapter 313 - 248: Saintess: I’ll Just Stay at Tang Wen’s Place Tonight
Chapter 313: Chapter 248: Saintess: I’ll Just Stay at Tang Wen’s Place Tonight
’Have I overlooked something?’
’If I could think of a way to break the stalemate and run out the clock, how could Saintess Hu Lan not think of it too?’
He had just completed a full circle.
His expression changed, and he snapped his head up.
The whirlwind suddenly stopped. In mid-air, Hu Lan’s eyes turned gold as she stared intently in Tang Wen’s direction.
[White Tiger Golden Pupils—Pierces Illusions, Beastly Intuition]
Tang Wen quickly retreated.
But it was too late.
Although Saintess Hu Lan couldn’t sense his exact location, she had guessed the general area.
The golden long-bladed saber in her hand vibrated.
[Golden Wind Mad Blade—Chaotic Dance of Spring and Autumn]
Sword Qi flew everywhere like countless phantoms, sealing off the space where Tang Wen was.
He was invisible, not incorporeal.
If he were struck by the Sword Gang, he would bleed whether he was invisible or not.
"The Saintess is truly formidable! I concede!"
He shouted, rolling on the ground to dodge the incoming Sword Gang.
Hu Lan quickly halted her assault.
Tang Wen took off the Moon Traveling Clothes, stuffed them into a gap in his breastplate, and became visible.
"Miss Lan, you truly are amazing."
Seeing him appear out of thin air, Saintess Hu Lan’s eyes widened in surprise. "Your method of Invisibility is incredible, too! Can I learn this ability?"
’That’s a bit too direct.’
Tang Wen turned his body, his back to the crowd of spectators, and pulled the Moon Traveling Clothes from his chest. "It takes this piece of clothing, a Curiosity, plus the Breath Concealment Technique to achieve this effect."
"Oh? Young Master Tang, would you mind if I tried it on?"
Hu Lan seemed exceptionally interested in this.
Tang Wen glanced back. Countless spectators were watching, curious about what the two of them were doing. "Now?"
"It is indeed inappropriate to do it here. Shall I find you tonight, Young Master?"
"Alright," Tang Wen agreed without hesitation, once again tucking the Moon Traveling Clothes securely against his body.
The two returned together, and everyone rose to their feet.
Saintess Hu Lan looked at Tang Wen with admiration and said, "Judging by the competition, the best performance belongs to Young Master Tang Wen. What does everyone else think?"
The rules had been set by everyone together.
Tang Wen had indeed lasted for several more moves, but it couldn’t be denied that he had used a clever trick.
The Boat Gang, the Horse Gang, Patriarch Chen, and the others were unwilling to accept it, but since the Saintess herself had given her opinion, they couldn’t open their mouths to argue, even if they wanted to.
Shui Qianjun was overjoyed and immediately said, "Holy Daughter, Elder Jade Tiger, friends of the Tiger Race, my Black Water Gang has already prepared a banquet. Everyone, please, follow me into the city!"
The large procession moved grandly into the city, arriving at the Main Hall of the Black Water Gang’s headquarters in Ganshan City.
In the plaza, servants and cooks were bustling with activity.
Square tables and copper pots were being set out one after another.
Dozens of bonfires, large and small, were lit.
The entire plaza grew warm.
The White Tiger Tribe were the guests of honor, and the various gangs and factions of Ganshan City hadn’t left either.
Even the Huang Family took two tables and sat down to eat.
They feasted from morning until afternoon.
The delicacies of Ganshan City were served in a continuous stream.
Fine wines and other beverages were placed on every table.
In front of each person was a charcoal-burning copper pot.
The bone broth inside gave off white steam and a rich aroma, simmering constantly.
Even though it was the dead of winter, there wasn’t the slightest chill.
The afternoon meeting was still held in the Black Water Gang’s Council Hall.
However, even fewer people participated.
Each faction sent only five or six representatives, who brought documents and account books to explain the state of their businesses.
The Huang Family would give twenty percent of their income, and each of the other families would give ten percent.
Added together and given entirely to the White Tiger Tribe, this tribute would amount to about twelve percent of Ganshan City’s total revenue.
Due to the imbalanced development of the various families, the Huang Family was dominant, their business accounting for roughly twenty percent of the city’s entire revenue.
The White Tiger Saintess said, "Once the first batch of supplies is delivered to the White Tiger Village, we will send five Fifth Grade masters from our tribe to help guard the underground Demon Cave."
Over ten percent of Ganshan City’s resources was an absolutely massive amount.
Transporting it all couldn’t be done overnight.
The two sides remained in the Council Hall, discussing and holding their meeting.
Shui Yun grew more and more excited as she listened.
Tang Wen, on the other hand, was growing drowsy and wished he could leave for home and go to sleep immediately.
The tea and refreshments were replaced several times.
The sky grew dark and the moon climbed over the treetops, but the meeting still hadn’t ended.
Shui Qianjun suggested, "Let’s eat and rest first. This isn’t urgent. We can discuss the rest tomorrow."
Everyone quickly agreed.
During the meal, Patriarch Chen seemed to recall something and asked, "Holy Daughter, have you chosen your accommodations yet?"
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the Saintess calmly said, "I have some matters to discuss with Young Master Tang Wen tonight. I wonder if there is room for me at Young Master Tang’s home?"
The crowd fell silent.
All at once, they turned to look at Tang Wen, their eyes filled with envy and jealousy.
Tang Wen, who had been leaning back in his chair with his eyes narrowed, was on the verge of falling asleep.
Her words startled him awake, and he quickly sat up straight. "Oh, yes, of course! No problem!"
The looks on everyone’s faces grew even more complicated.
Patriarch Chen felt a sour taste in his mouth. ’That kid... he sure moves fast!’
’Why couldn’t he be my disciple?’
When Tang Wen came to his senses, he subconsciously glanced at his senior martial sister beside him, wanting to offer an explanation.
But he found her eyes filled with excitement and admiration, as if she were on the verge of praising him for a job well done.
’Fine, then!’
’She herself isn’t even worried about me being unfaithful.’
After the meal, the incident involving the White Tiger Tribe’s siege, which had begun the previous night, finally came to a close.
The major factions departed one by one.
Tang Wen also led the Saintess and her entourage back to his home.
After arranging their rooms, Hu Lan came to find Tang Wen, unable to wait any longer.
The two sat down at a table. Tang Wen dismissed the Maid, took out the Moon Traveling Clothes, and asked, "Miss Lan, you seem very interested in this Invisibility Ability?"
He was genuinely curious. With the power of the White Tiger Tribe, if they encountered a problem, they could just call for reinforcements and overwhelm it. They shouldn’t have any need for risky methods like using Invisibility.
Hu Lan pondered for a moment, then looked him in the eye and said, "Not everything can be solved with a fight."
She took the clothes and put them on, feeling a little strange.
With clothes that were Curiosities, comfort was hardly a consideration.
