Chapter 219: Chapter 213: Bai You Ruo to Ganshan City

The potency of the Extraordinary Blood Marrow only lasts for three days before it begins to weaken.

A day has already passed. This is the first night.

[Constitution: 13.2 → 15.57]

In the span of a single day, his Constitution had risen by 2.37.

That was an increase of nearly 20%.

Such a fierce increase naturally led to another bout of losing control over his power.

[Extraordinary Ability: Darkness (Awakening Progress 15.10% → 21.31%)]

An increase of 6.21 percentage points.

This, too, could be described as an explosive increase.

The sun rose, casting thousands of brilliant rays.

Tang Wen stepped outside and squinted. It took him a full half-minute to adjust to the sunlight.

He needed to regain control of his power.

But this time, he wouldn’t use a knife.

Instead, he had Liang Yu catch a few birds.

"CHIRP, CHIRP."

A familiar chirping came from the bamboo cage.

"Red-beaked Sparrows?" Tang Wen couldn’t help but ask, peering at the birds in the cage.

"Yes, Young Master. You were in a hurry, and these were all I could find. Should I go and get something else?" Liang Yu asked, confused.

"No, it’s fine."

It was just a surreal moment.

Tang Wen remembered the days he’d spent living in a shack, surviving by sneaking home a few Red-beaked Sparrows every day.

’Back then, I traded you for food. Now, I use you to train.’

’We’re really bound by fate, aren’t we?’

He didn’t indulge in sentimentality.

He took one out and had it stand on his palm.

After an initial moment of panic, the Red-beaked Sparrow pushed off with its legs and beat its wings, trying to fly.

The moment it pushed down, Tang Wen flicked his palm, neutralizing the force.

Another push, another flick.

His palm rose and fell.

The Red-beaked Sparrow seemed glued to his hand. No matter how frantically it flapped its wings, it couldn’t take off.

The bird didn’t fly.

This was supposedly an advanced power-exertion technique that only National Martial Arts Masters could master after reaching a certain level of training.

By using this subtle, multi-layered application of power, Tang Wen was able to master his newfound strength even more quickly.

"Keep them well-fed. I’ll need them every day."

"Yes, Young Master." A Female Martial Artist from his guard detail took the birdcage with a grave expression. ’The Young Master spoke to me for the first time! I have to take good care of them!’

Tang Wen thought back to his time at Flame Camp.

He paused, then turned back to add, "Catch some more. We can roast or fry them."

"Yes, Young Master."

The Female Martial Artist holding the birdcage glanced down at the birds inside. For a moment, she was torn. Should she continue to raise them, or should she send them to the kitchen right away so the Young Master could eat them as soon as possible?

He ate breakfast and took a short nap.

Standing before an ice bucket, he uncorked the eleventh vial of Extraordinary Blood Marrow and gulped it down.

As the Blood Marrow entered his system, its potency surged like endless, crashing ocean waves.

Tang Wen’s expression changed. He focused his mind and frantically circulated his vital energy to absorb its potency.

Clearly, this second dose of Blood Marrow came from a Water-type Extraordinary Beast.

Its abilities must have been etched into its very marrow.

And so was the potency contained within its Blood Marrow after death.

The previous one—the Fire Element Extraordinary Blood Marrow—had a potency as fierce as a wildfire.

This water-type Blood Marrow, however, had a potency that surged into his body like endless, overlapping waves capable of toppling mountains.

For Tang Wen, this was far more terrifying.

If his body couldn’t absorb it fast enough, even a single wave of that power crashing into the depths of his own marrow would leave him severely injured, at the very least...

「Ganshan City, West Gate.」

Two women and a man stood in line to enter the city.

Their cloaks were embroidered with the insignia of Four Seas Camp. The Guards glanced at them a few times but didn’t conduct a detailed inspection. With a wave of a hand, they let them pass into the city.

"Who would have thought that Tang Wen would end up a young master of the Black Water Gang?" Bai Xue said from beneath her black cloak. "Rumor has it he’s even become the Gang Leader’s daughter’s man."

"Forget about all that," Bai You Ruo said. "He sent me a message, which means he’s honoring our previous agreement."
