Song Kexin had just taken a bite when she saw Cres whip his head around, his brown eyes staring intently at her.

"Oh, fine, give it to him, give it to him." Song Kexin waved her hand dismissively.

Ji Taixian grudgingly took out a small piece of chocolate, but before he could even pass it over, Cres rudely snatched it away.

’Chocolate was a precious snack, and every bite meant less for later. He was saving it all for Xinxin!’

Ji Taixian secretly glared at the little boy. "What’s the situation now? Can you sense how many zombies are on the perimeter?"

"They’re everywhere!" Cres tore open the wrapper, tossed the chocolate into his mouth, and made a sweeping gesture. "All over the place!"

Xie Ning silently tightened her grip on the K30 in her hand. She had a feeling they were heading into a tough battle.

The group followed the patrol guards to the main square. Along the way, they saw many lightly and severely wounded people being carried to the sides of the road for treatment.

"Oh, dear." Comrade Song You’ai patted her leg. "We should have brought Xiaobei. It would be great if Xiaobei were here."

Xie Ning discreetly pursed her lips.

"Dr. Yu." Dr. Wei came running over with several assistants, panting and wiping sweat from his forehead. "Dr. Yu, you need to come with us now. Sister-in-law, I’m taking Xiao Yu with me, sorry, sorry."

Song You’ai quickly nodded. "It’s alright, it’s alright. Go on, you’re busy. We’ll get ready here."

Yu Tianfeng gave everyone a worried look. "Be careful."

Everyone nodded repeatedly, watching him hurry away with Dr. Wei and the others.

"Captain Xie." A member of the patrol team ran over and said, "Your Starfire Team needs to head over to Team Three. In fifteen minutes, you’ll be needed to go up and relieve a group."

Xie Ning nodded, not wasting any words.

The main square was now a sea of people, but thankfully, everything was orderly.

Song Kexin stepped in a sticky patch of blood and quickly hopped to the side.

"A flock of flying birds attacked just now, but fortunately, the defense was effective. Everyone, follow me this way."

"Xie Ning, Xie Ning! Over here, over here!"

Xie Ning heard the familiar voice and turned, her expression blank as she glanced at Li Xiang, who was jumping up and down and waving from within the crowd.

"What are they doing here?"

"The Fierce Tiger Squad has been stationed here since last night. They went to rest once in between, and now it looks like they’re back," the patrol member politely explained.

"They’re also backup for Team Three?" Xie Ning glanced in the direction of Li Dawei and his group.

’Unbelievable!’

’No matter where I go, I run into this bunch of idiots...’

"That’s right. Captain Xie, you can head to the front line. I have some other business to attend to."

"Go on, young man, get to your work." Song Youzhi nodded, then muttered under his breath as he followed beside Xie Ning and Song You’ai, "Li Dawei and his crew are like lingering ghosts. We bump into them everywhere. I’m afraid we’ll never be able to shake these guys off in this lifetime."

Xie Ning: ...

Just seeing these people gave her a headache.

The Starfire Team hadn’t even made it over before Li Dawei and his squad came forward to greet them with great enthusiasm. "Xie Ning, what took you so long? We’ve already fought several waves of zombies."

"Let me tell you, the zombies these days are really agile, especially the flying ones. They’re incredibly tough."

"They can even break through our laser protection shield."

"Later, you and the Starfire Team should stick with us. Xie Ning, I’m not just bragging, every member of our Fierce Tiger Squad is now Third Rank or higher. We’re seriously strong!"

"Chen Man’er is Third Rank? Wu Qiuyun is Third Rank? Both your wives are Third Rank?"

Li Dawei’s face stiffened. "You... Why must you bring up the sore spot? They were ordinary people to begin with. I meant all our Superpower Users are Third Rank or higher."

"Well, all the Superpower Users on our team are Fourth Rank or higher!" Song Kexin retorted irritably. "Li Dawei, why are you always watching my sister’s every move?"

Li Xiang ran to his brother’s side and gave the Starfire Team a fake smile. "We’re all part of Superpower Team Three now, so we’re temporary teammates. We should all try to get along, yeah?"

A loud BOOM from an Electromagnetic Cannon echoed from the front, and many people started running toward them, carrying the wounded. "Backup, get over here!"

Xie Ning led the Starfire Team forward, with Li Dawei’s group following them like a shadow. He waved his arms vigorously. "Comrades, we’re here! Are you alright? You’ve all worked hard."

Xie Ning wished she could turn around and give that babbling Li Dawei a couple of punches.

Song Kexin, Song Shijun, and the others followed the main group up the city wall to relieve the members of Superpower Team Three.

The first glimpse of the zombie horde swarming below the wall almost made them lose their footing.

"Earth Ability Users, over here, now!" a squad leader covered in dust and dirt roared impatiently at them. "Keep repairing the wall!"

"Captain, I’ll head over then." Zhu Yong said to the others before hurrying off with the Earth Element squad leader.

"Fire Ability Users, gather here! Quick, quick, quick."

"Oh my god." It was Song Kexin’s first time on the front lines, and she was so nervous she didn’t know what to do with her hands and feet.

Seeing this, Ji Taixian quickly moved with her toward the group of Fire Ability Users. "Keep up, keep up, Xinxin. Don’t overthink it. Just follow the commander’s orders. When they tell you to use your fire, use your fire."

"Wind Ability Users! Wind Ability Users!"

Xie Ning watched with a blank expression as her teammates were pulled away one by one, but she remained standing in place.

Li Dawei and his group all crowded around her.

"Xie Ning, aren’t we kind of blocking the way by standing here?" Li Xiang mumbled, his lips barely moving.

Xie Ning turned her head and saw that only her uncle, the Power-type Superpower User, was still standing beside her. All her other teammates had been dragged to the front to form up.

Those repairing the wall were repairing the wall, those using fire were using fire, and those using wind were using wind.

Cres had been directly hauled away by Zhai Ruobai and his men. Comrade Song You’ai, not knowing what she was supposed to do, had ended up following another group and was now some distance away...

Xie Ning glanced to the side and saw that her teammates had long been replaced by Li Dawei’s group. She couldn’t help but look up at the sky, speechless.

Xie Ning started walking toward the side of the wall, and Li Xiang’s group moved right along with her, a noisy crowd surrounding her.

When Gu Chen and Lu Wei hurried over, this was the ridiculous scene that greeted them.

His girlfriend’s face clearly wore a "not happy, not willing, and don’t want to deal with any of you people" expression, and she was shooting icy daggers with her eyes in every direction.

Gu Chen sprinted over, tapped a few of the underlings on the outer edge of the crowd, and motioned with his eyes for everyone to make way.

The underlings from the Fierce Tiger Squad reluctantly shuffled aside to let Gu Chen and his companion through.

"Ningning, you and I..."

Before he could finish, Xie Ning grabbed his hand and forcefully pulled him to her side.

Gu Chen looked a bit dazed as his girlfriend dragged him over and, with one hand, pinned him against the nearby city wall.

The surrounding crowd stared at the pair being "wall-slammed," feeling as if... the script had been flipped?
