Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 295: Making It Official
Perry Yates nodded in agreement when Anna Kane said she wanted to come with her.
"Alright, get ready. I’ll take you to get some identification. But those old-timers might try to draft you. Whether or not you agree is entirely up to you. As long as you don’t reveal my identity, you’re free."
In reality, Perry Yates was just saying that. Once an Advanced Card bonds with its owner, it will never betray them.
Even if the card itself isn’t consciously aware of it, it would never betray its owner on a subconscious level.
It was like a directive written into their genetic code.
A look of delight flashed across Anna Kane’s face when she heard Perry Yates’s words.
’She had thought that even though she’d escaped her original world and wouldn’t have to relive what was supposed to happen, she would ultimately still be under someone else’s control.’
’After all, even though Perry Yates hadn’t said it, as a card herself, she knew just how rare five-star cards were.’
’But even so, Perry Yates had still promised to give her the utmost freedom.’
Regardless of whether the promise was genuine, the fact that Perry Yates was willing to say it was enough to move her deeply.
Perry Yates first took Anna Kane back to her place.
"I spend most of my time at The Card Tavern. You can live here from now on."
"Okay."
Anna Kane looked around. The apartment was large, exquisitely decorated, and had a warm, cozy feel.
Perry Yates then took Anna Kane out, and they soon arrived at the Survival Game Administration.
After entering the Survival Game Administration, Perry Yates went straight to an office.
Despite not having been with the Survival Game Administration for long, Perry Yates was highly valued due to the level of her cards.
This was especially true after she gained control over the instance known as The Warped Jungle; her ability to communicate with plants was in high demand.
However, Perry Yates disliked doing missions, and her gaming schedule was irregular, so she only helped out occasionally.
"Captain Yates, what brings you here?"
A middle-aged man pushed the door open and entered, greeting Perry Yates enthusiastically the moment he saw her.
’This woman is a complete shut-in who almost never goes out.’
’But even so, no one would dare underestimate her.’
’After all, even though Perry Yates had rarely taken on missions, the few times she had taken action were more than enough to leave a lasting impression.’
’After all, those Sunflower seeds were now a miraculous healing remedy. It was even said that long-term use could cure cancer.’
"When did I become a captain?" Perry Yates asked, confused.
"The higher-ups just appointed you. Didn’t you get the notification?"
"I must have missed it, then," Perry Yates said casually.
"But that’s not important." Perry Yates gestured to Anna Kane beside her. "Can you get her an ID card?"
The man had, of course, already noticed Anna Kane. He was curious where she had come from; there was no one like her in Perry Yates’s known circle of contacts.
"This is my card. I don’t want to keep her trapped inside a card forever—that’s too pitiful. So I brought her here to make things official."
The man was a bit stunned by Perry Yates’s words. He turned to look at Anna Kane, asking uncertainly, "She’s a card? How many stars?"
Currently, the highest-level Character Card they knew of was the butler belonging to the owner of The Card Tavern.
A five-star Character Card was a practically perfect being. A single one could do the work of several people and possessed immense combat power.
