Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 292: Pet Egg Incident 2
Little Panda took out the Blue Level Pet Egg, then placed both Pet Eggs into a disposable incubator that had been prepared in advance.
These incubators were also made from blueprints. Although they were single-use, their advantage was that they were portable.
"Yellow Level Pet Eggs will hatch in about an hour in the incubator, typically taking no more than five. Blue Level Pet Eggs, on the other hand, require a full day and usually won’t take longer than three. The longer the incubation time, the better their potential," Little Panda explained patiently.
All these Pet Eggs were inspected before being put on sale, so there was no chance of getting a dead egg.
Jayce Finch nodded at the explanation and cradled the two Pet Egg incubators in his arms as if they were treasures.
He decided he wasn’t going anywhere until the two pets successfully hatched.
"Oh, right. Don’t I need them to recognize me as their master?" Jayce Finch asked.
He remembered that in both novels and anime, Pet Eggs always needed to be bonded with a master.
"Not right now. After the Pet Egg hatches, its shell will turn into a ring. You’ll need to perform a blood bond with the ring to use it. Also, the ring has a space inside where you can keep your pet.
However, I wouldn’t recommend you do that.
Also, while pets can eat the same things people do, if you want them to grow strong, you should feed them special energy meals."
As it spoke, Little Panda pointed to the second floor. "The counter that sells pet energy meals is up on the second floor."
Perry Yates had originally wanted to put both counters on the first floor, but she realized it would crowd the space too much. Since the second floor had plenty of room, she just set up the pet energy meal counter there instead.
As for who made the pet energy meals, it certainly wasn’t Perry Yates. It was the letter-shaped dolls; they were in charge of production.
Perry Yates had assigned the little dolls to different posts on different floors according to their unique Talents.
After listening to Little Panda, Jayce Finch nodded seriously, showing he understood.
Before, he entered the game just to survive. Now, with these two Pet Eggs, he suddenly felt much more motivated.
While Jayce Finch and Little Panda were talking, a large crowd had already gathered. Many people’s eyes were shining as they stared at the dazzling array of Pet Eggs on the counter.
They grew even more excited when they learned that some of these Pet Eggs might even contain Divine Beast bloodlines.
They didn’t even dare to hope for the two Divine Beast Eggs at the very top. Although they had no price listed, they were definitely beyond what they could afford.
Even if they couldn’t afford a Divine Beast Egg, they could still take a gamble on a bloodline. The chances were slim, but as long as it wasn’t zero, they couldn’t stop fantasizing. ’What if I’m the chosen one?’
It was just like people addicted to buying lottery tickets, always thinking, ’What if I’m the next one to win?’
In an instant, a mad scramble to buy Pet Eggs began. Even the Blue Level Pet Eggs were being snapped up.
Meanwhile, the agents from other countries and factions stationed at The Card Tavern reported the discovery of the Pet Eggs the moment they saw them.
Their superiors quickly replied: snatch up the purple-level Pet Eggs first. In a word: grab. The more, the better.
"Who was it?! Who the hell snatched the fox I had my eye on?! I only hesitated for a second! How could you bastards be so fast!"
A burly man roared in the crowd. But just as the words left his mouth, another Pet Egg he was eyeing—a cat—was also bought. An enraged curse immediately followed.
"Goddammit, you better hope I don’t find out who you are!"
"You pack of animals, slow the hell down!"
"My hand speed from being single for twenty years has finally come in handy."
"Good thing I didn’t exchange all my cards for cash back then! Haha, I’m such a genius."
...
"Wow, that one hatches into a Spirit Moth! Second Young Master, won’t you buy one for me? Please?"
Compared to the Yellow and Blue Level Pet Eggs, there were fewer people around the purple-level ones. After all, the price was just too high at one thousand 1-star cards—not something an ordinary player could afford.
However, the man the woman was fawning over was no ordinary person. He was the second son of a Fortune 500 company’s chairman.
After the game’s advent, his company had acquired a large number of cards and had deep reserves.
So, while one thousand 1-star cards was expensive, it wasn’t a sum this Second Young Master couldn’t produce.
But the Second Young Master was clearly no fool. Spending a little money to pick up girls was one thing, but if he actually dared to give away one thousand 1-star cards, his dad would kill him when he got back.
Besides, purple-level Pet Eggs had a high probability of hatching a pet with a Divine Beast bloodline. Instead of choosing a tiny Spirit Moth, it would be better to pick a powerful Vicious Beast, like a lion, a tiger, or a Wyrmdrake.
Seeing he wasn’t reacting, the woman pouted unhappily and whined, "Second Young Master, are you going to say yes or no?"
Her coquettish voice twisted and turned with affectation, giving everyone nearby goosebumps.
But the people around were already used to this sort of thing. After all, to each their own. Some people, despite becoming players, still chose to depend on others. That was their choice.
"Who do you think you are? Get lost."
The Second Young Master tore the woman off him and tossed her to the ground like a piece of trash.
As the woman watched his cold, retreating back, a wave of regret washed over her. ’If I had known,’ she thought, ’I should have just asked for a Blue Level Pet Egg.’
The Second Young Master had been doting on her recently, giving her whatever she wanted, which was why she’d dared to be so direct just now.
But it was too late for regrets now.
The woman scrambled nimbly to her feet, not a trace of embarrassment on her face, as if she weren’t the one who had just been thrown to the ground. She completely ignored the stares from the crowd.
She dove into the crowd, decisively snatched a Blue Level Pet Egg she’d had her eye on, paid for it, and then turned and left, hugging the incubator.
’Tsk, looks like I’ll have to find a new sponsor.’
The woman thought to herself as she walked, her eyes constantly scanning her surroundings.
Perry Yates came down from the second floor and walked up to the bar. Taking the apple juice her butler handed her, she watched the grand spectacle in the distance and couldn’t help but remark, "I thought the last auction had already squeezed them dry. I didn’t expect them to still have so much money."
Although these particular players hadn’t participated in the auction, ever since news of it got out, official game organizations that had been invited, like the Survival Game Administration, had begun frantically buying up cards from all over the world.
