Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 237: Haisa 20
Perry Yates took out a White Card and placed it on top of the silver Fantasy King Card.
The next second, the White Card vanished, transforming into a stream of power that was absorbed by the silver card. Then, Perry thought, ’I want a weapon specifically designed to kill zombies.’
After repeating this a few times in her mind, the card in her hand was gradually enveloped by a white light, then transformed into an orb of energy emitting a faint white glow.
Then, the orb of energy began to change again. After a few dozen seconds, a black handgun materialized in her hand.
Because Perry was small, the resulting handgun was also small and perfectly suited to her current size—delicate and compact.
According to the information from the card, any bullet fired from this gun that hit a zombie would kill it effortlessly.
Holding the handgun, Perry couldn’t wait to find a target and test it out. As for her target...
Her eyes fell on the Intermediate Zombie below the crystal chandelier. It was sitting at a table, taking small sips of coffee.
’Looks like I don’t have any other choice.’
Aim. Fire.
The entire sequence was one smooth motion.
To prove the handgun was truly as miraculous as described, Perry didn’t aim for the Intermediate Zombie’s head or any other vital spot. Instead, she targeted a non-lethal area: its calf.
BANG!
The shot rang out, and the bullet tore through the Intermediate Zombie’s calf.
According to the earlier Identification, the Intermediate Zombie’s defenses were formidable; ordinary weapons could barely harm it. Yet the bullet she had just fired had pierced the zombie’s calf with ease.
But that wasn’t all.
A burst of flame suddenly erupted from the wound and rapidly engulfed the Intermediate Zombie’s entire body. In the span of a few breaths, the very same zombie that had been lording its power over everyone and holding absolute control just moments before was reduced to a pile of ash.
’So strong!’
Looking at the handgun in her hand, Perry suddenly felt a pang of regret. ’If I’d known it would be this powerful, I would’ve wished for a weapon that could handle both zombies and Brain-Eater Bugs.’
’I could probably still change it now, but...’
’Forget it. Better to conserve what I can.’
Besides, unlike zombies that could evolve, the terror of the Brain-Eater Bugs lay in their stealth and their undetectable parasitic abilities. Their actual weakness was quite obvious: their heads.
The gunshot soon attracted nearby wandering zombies. But by the time they arrived, the Intermediate Zombie was already a pile of ash on the floor.
As for Perry, she remained perched on the crystal chandelier. These brainless zombies would likely never spot her.
「Day Twenty-One of the Game.」
Nine days remained until the end of the game.
Perry’s original plan for the day was to continue holing up on the chandelier. Even though she now had a weapon that could deal with zombies, she hadn’t forgotten about the Dealer Hunters still on board.
Compared to the zombies or the Brain-Eater Bugs, the Dealer Hunters were a far greater threat.
’If only I’d known. I should have wished for an item that could target or locate Dealer Hunters.’
’If past games are any indication, there should be more than one Fantasy King Card. It’s probably standard issue for every non-Dealer Player.’
’However, when I fought those two Dealer Hunters, they didn’t seem to use a Fantasy King Card. If they had, I would have been the one running for my life.’
’Were they reluctant to use it?’
Even Perry didn’t believe that reason.
’If they weren’t reluctant to use it, then they must not have had one.’
’It seems this is just a perk for non-Dealer Players.’
Suddenly, the sounds of a fierce struggle erupted from outside.
Perry, who had been sitting on the chandelier and swinging her legs, instantly grew alert.
She sat up straight, gripping the Zombie Slayer in one hand and her Spiritual Ability Gun in the other, her gaze fixed warily on the direction of the noise.
CLICK—
As the door was pushed open, several fully armed, masked figures burst inside.
Upon entering, they immediately sprang into action, using whatever they could find in the surroundings to barricade all the entrances.
Only after finishing all this did they breathe a sigh of relief and remove their masks.
When she saw their faces, Perry, still on the chandelier, was startled. She actually recognized them.
The newcomers were none other than Felix Flynn, Pearl Norris, the man in the trench coat, and the unnamed short-haired woman in black.
All of them looked rather battered.
After hastily bandaging their wounds, they also injected themselves with an antidote for the zombie virus.
However, that seemed to be the last of their antidote supply.
Pearl Norris tossed aside the empty vial in her hand. "We’re out. And I have no idea where Perry Yates went. I’ve turned this whole cruise ship upside down and haven’t found a trace of her."
"If we’ve been looking this long and still can’t find her, she’s probably dead," the man in the trench coat said.
"Impossible," Pearl retorted. "We haven’t found her, but we haven’t found a body, either. I went to Perry’s room. It was a mess, but there were no signs of a struggle. And most importantly, her luggage was gone."
Pearl’s tone was full of conviction. "That proves Perry is fine. She must be hiding somewhere. Remember that explosion on the twelfth floor? I went to check it out. I don’t have any solid proof, but I suspect Perry was the one who caused it."
Just then, Felix Flynn, who had been silent the entire time, suddenly looked up at the crystal chandelier. "Aren’t you coming out?" he said. "How long do you plan on eavesdropping?"
As he spoke, the other three looked up in astonishment. There was someone else here, and they hadn’t even noticed?
Perry, who was just about to send her Clone down: ...
’Fine, fine. Having foreknowledge means you can just do whatever you want, huh.’
The next second, Perry’s figure leaped down from the chandelier, landing in front of the group.
Pearl Norris was the first to react. "You were hiding here! No wonder I searched everywhere and couldn’t find you."
This place had been a zombie hive right before they arrived. To think Perry would choose to hide here, playing a game of hiding in plain sight with the undead.
"Since you’re here, this makes things simple," she continued. "Heal us, quickly. And then make me some more of the zombie virus antidote."
As she spoke, Pearl Norris unceremoniously stuffed four cards into Perry’s hands.
Seeing this, the others also took out their cards.
’I just love proactive customers like you.’
