Although the fusion had failed, the two cards used in the attempt weren’t wasted.
Staring at the cards, which now looked slightly different, Perry Yates walked over to the storage shelves.
There were over twenty shelves in total, necessary to accommodate the vast number of cards and make it easy to find a specific one quickly.
Perry wandered among the shelves, occasionally pulling out cards as she went.
’Okay, actually, I have no idea what I’m looking for.’
She was basically just grabbing any card that seemed useless or had no potential for Ascension and tossing it into the Card Furnace.
In this way, Perry picked out seven or eight cards, covering a wide range of attributes and abilities.
Perry stared at the hodgepodge she’d created, then initiated the fusion.
The process would take eight days, probably because she had put in so many cards, and all of them were two-star.
"Fine. Eight days it is."
After setting the Card Furnace aside, Perry picked up a nearby box.
She opened the box. Inside were the Replication Cards she had brought out of the game, along with some used ones and various other cards she had collected.
She selected the Talents from the Copy Cards, then chose to fuse two of them: Silence and Retrospect.
She hesitated for a moment between the Space Burst and Silence Talents, but ultimately chose Silence.
The reason was simple: compared to Space Burst, Silence could directly Seal a person’s abilities, making it far more irreplaceable.
After being duplicated by a Copy Card and then fused by Perry, these abilities didn’t count toward her Talent limit. Instead, they functioned like the attributeless cards she had absorbed before.
’Speaking of attributeless cards, maybe I can...’
’Never mind. I should finish what I’m doing first. Besides, that person is just downstairs. They can’t get away.’
A person’s Talent could not be copied more than once. In other words, if someone had already used a Copy Card on a person, any subsequent attempts by others to use a Copy Card on them would fail.
Realizing this, Perry unhesitatingly used a Copy Card on herself, duplicating all of her fused cards in the process.
Once she was done, Perry placed the newly created copies into a separate box and set it on one of the shelves.
Outwardly, it looked no different from any of the other boxes of cards.
Then, she picked up the only golden card left in the box.
[Item Card
Name: High-speed Star
Level: Five-Star
Ability Introduction: Its true form is a giant golden star that can split into countless smaller golden stars. Possesses the Absolute Cutting property and is exceptionally sharp.]
Perry’s eyes lit up as she read the card’s description.
She had just been complaining in the game about her lack of offensive options, and now an Attack Card had fallen into her lap.
’Absolute Cutting... just the name sounds incredible.’
It was a shame the "traffic light sisters" had died so suddenly. With such a powerful item, they could have definitely stood a chance against that Plesiosaur.
But now, the card was hers.
After binding the card to herself, Perry stretched languidly. She had no intention of resting, however, as there were other important matters to attend to.
After a few days of incubation, the Space Grass Seeds she had planted on Evan Fuller, Amber Sheridan, and Justin Shaw had fully matured.
She had no immediate plans for the Space Grass on Justin Shaw, since she didn’t know him very well.
Perry focused on the Space Grass on Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan. Upon sensing it was fully mature, she summoned an Any Door with a single thought, and it appeared before her.
「At the same time, on another planet remarkably similar to Cerulea」 In a luxurious room, a magnificent, fairytale-like door interwoven with Sunlight and Moonlight slowly materialized.
Perry stepped through, her Invisibility active. She quickly scanned her surroundings, taking in the understated, luxurious decor of the room.
It was silent. The room was completely empty, with no sign of life. The Space Grass was growing under the bed, in a dusty, hard-to-reach corner.
Seeing this, Perry immediately opened the window and scattered more Space Grass Seeds outside.
The moment the seeds hit the ground, they took root, sprouted, and grew.
With that done, Perry turned and left the room. Now she had to find either Evan Fuller or Amber Sheridan.
’Since the Space Grass Seed led me here, this must be a safe house for one of them.’
’So I should just wait here, right?’
Perry wandered through the house. It was completely empty, with no signs of being lived in. A bad feeling suddenly crept into her heart.
She glanced at the sky outside. The night was dark and windy.
"No, I can’t just sit here and wait."
With that thought, Perry went straight to the police station.
Thank heavens. This planet wasn’t just physically similar to Cerulea; its society was as well.
Once at the station, Perry pretended her phone, wallet, and ID had been stolen and asked for help.
Seeing Perry on the verge of tears, a female officer comforted her in a gentle voice, "Don’t cry, young lady. You said you were here to visit a friend. Do you remember your friend’s phone number?"
Perry shook her head, her voice choked with sobs. "I don’t remember it. I just know his name is Amber Sheridan. We met when we were kids, but then my family moved away. We’ve kept in touch all these years, though. I came here to see him since it’s been so long."
Amber Sheridan was not an unknown figure. With Perry’s description, the police quickly found his contact information.
When the officer handed Perry the phone, she spoke before the person on the other end could say anything. "It’s Perry Yates."
Amber Sheridan, on the other end of the line: "..."
His annoyance at being interrupted by a call from an unknown number instantly vanished. He asked tentatively, "Is it really you, Perry?"
"Of course it is. I came to visit you, but my phone and ID got stolen. Hurry up and come get me from the police station."
The line went silent for a few seconds. Then, he said, "Wait there. I’ll be right there."
Staring at the disconnected call, Perry had a strange expression. If she hadn’t misheard, had there been a woman’s voice on the other end of the line?
’Did I interrupt something?’
’But it wasn’t on purpose. If I’d known, if I’d known... well, even if I had known, I still would have called Amber Sheridan. After all, I really can’t afford to provoke Evan Fuller. Or rather, I don’t dare.’
Amber Sheridan was fast. In less than twenty minutes, Perry heard the screech of tires as a car braked sharply outside.
’Wow, speeding right up to a police station. Isn’t he afraid they’ll impound his car and detain him?’
