Chapter 404: Chapter 186: Drone

The young man froze for a second, then cursed, "Fuck!"

He hadn’t expected the man’s aim to be so precise. From an altitude of over two hundred meters, in the dead of night, the guy had simply lifted his hand and fired. A single shot, and he’d hit the moving drone mid-air. That wasn’t something an ordinary person could do.

The young man leaned back in his chair, staring at the screen of static. He was silent for several seconds.

His name was Li Rui, and he was the only survivor in this area.

This self-built villa was his own personal shelter, which he had built before the apocalypse when he sensed something was wrong. Its location was remote and not easily discovered. Relying on this shelter, he had survived quite comfortably until now.

The villa also had a basement. Inside this personal shelter of his, he had stockpiled a large amount of supplies—food, water, medicine, and all sorts of other goods. It was, to put it mildly, abundantly stocked.

These drones were his eyes, and also his weapons. With them, he could safely observe his surroundings without having to risk going out himself.

He had been living here ever since the apocalypse began, using his drones to observe countless people passing by. Most people just hurried past, never noticing the pair of eyes watching them from above. A few did notice, but they would just glance up before continuing on their way.

But this person today was different. Not only had he spotted the drone, but he had shot it down without a second thought.

A mix of complex emotions surged through Li Rui—anger and a pang of loss for his drone, but mostly curiosity. ’Who the hell is that guy? Why are his reflexes so fast? How is his aim so good?’

Li Rui thought for a moment, then grabbed another drone from the shelf behind him.

This one was much smaller than the last, its body only the size of an adult’s palm, with smaller, quieter rotors. It was an FPV drone, specifically designed for high-speed, low-altitude flight—fast, agile, and much harder to hit.

The last one was suited for high-altitude hovering and observation, but this FPV drone was meant for close-quarters tracking.

Li Rui connected the FPV drone and initiated the launch sequence.

"Let’s see what you’re really made of," Li Rui muttered, piloting the FPV drone out into the night.

The FPV drone sliced silently through the darkness, quickly reaching the vicinity of the two-story building. Through the monitor, Li Rui saw that the fire on the roof was still burning. The man was still sitting by the campfire, eating.

He accelerated the FPV drone, making it zip past the man at high speed from a distance.

The FPV drone was so fast that an ordinary person would never be able to react in time.

The FPV drone zipped past Xu Mo, then flew off into the distance, circling in the air as it prepared for another approach.

Xu Mo was in the middle of eating when he suddenly heard that faint buzzing sound again.

His ears twitched. This time, the sound was different from before—a bit higher-pitched.

Scanning his surroundings, Xu Mo saw a small black shadow hurtle in from the distance, streak past him, and disappear into the night.

’An FPV drone?’ Xu Mo was taken aback.

He hadn’t expected that after he shot down one drone, the other party, far from backing down, had sent another one—and a much harder-to-deal-with FPV drone at that.

The FPV drone circled in the air and came flying toward Xu Mo again.

This time, it flew closer and faster, practically skimming the top of Xu Mo’s head. The sound of its rotors buzzed in his ears.

Xu Mo let the FPV drone fly over his head, then said in a low voice, "Friend, this is going too far."

He didn’t know if the other person could hear him, but whether they could or not, he had to make his position clear.

The FPV drone paid Xu Mo no mind, circled in the air once more, and charged at him again.

Xu Mo’s eyes narrowed.

The FPV drone was fast, and from a distance, it would be difficult to hit with a gun. But now that it was flying so low and so close, it gave Xu Mo an opportunity.

As the FPV drone charged him for the third time, Xu Mo moved.

He didn’t raise his gun. Instead, he whipped the Triangular Spike from his waist with lightning speed. Tilting his body slightly, he thrust his arm forward violently.

Xu Mo’s speed was astonishing. In the exact instant the FPV drone brushed past him, the tip of the Triangular Spike accurately pierced its fuselage.

The FPV drone stopped abruptly, its rotors still spinning frantically, but its body was already impaled on the Triangular Spike. It struggled for a second or two, then fell completely still.

Xu Mo withdrew the Triangular Spike and looked at the drone’s wreckage hanging from it, shaking his head.

Not only had his strike destroyed the FPV drone, but he had also captured it.

Xu Mo glanced down at the small machine. Its body had been pierced through, exposing the circuit board, and two of its rotor blades were broken. Xu Mo pulled the FPV drone off the Triangular Spike and casually tossed it into the nearby fire.

The flames devoured the FPV drone, making a CRACKLING sound.

Xu Mo sat back down by the fire and went back to eating.

"Holy shit!"

Staring at the monitor that had once again dissolved into static, Li Rui couldn’t help but curse out loud.

Just moments before, through the FPV drone’s camera, he had clearly seen it all. The person sitting by the fire had actually, in the split second the drone flew past at high speed, stabbed it out of the air with a Cold Weapon.

’What the fuck kind of reaction speed is that?’

Li Rui’s expression changed. He realized this strange intruder might not be the kind of ordinary survivor he usually encountered. That reaction speed, that composure... this person was either a survivor with special training or... someone just like him.
