The humming became stronger in Nexus. One newly formed mixed rift became a mutated one, creating a new rank of dungeon rift never recorded in human history...

...

No one could speak properly about what they had just witnessed. What on earth was that? It had all happened in a split-second flash.

The man stammered in absolute disbelief, his eyes wide as he stared at his unconscious butterfly.

"N-no... That’s impossible! Just what kind of cheap trickery did you use?" The man was completely flustered with raw anger and humiliation, losing face with every single passing second.

He had been so insufferably confident just moments earlier, but right now, each passing second made his knees tremble and weaken beneath him.

"There’s no trickery here at all. I just don’t sell any average beasts, you see." The traveling merchant raised his hands high in front of the surrounding crowd. "See that?! That’s the very creature you were all so quick to underestimate earlier. And seeing its true power firsthand sure makes it clear why I was so confident, doesn’t it?"

Slowly, the overall opinion of the gathered crowd began to shift dramatically. The previous mockery and sneers dissolved, turning into a slow-burning respect and admiration toward the mysterious traveling merchant.

Just how could he do something so incredible and prove it at the exact moment he was challenged?

"Uhm..."

Usaff hesitantly approached the traveling merchant as one by one, eager citizens swarmed the merchant with frantic bidding offers for the remaining beasts for sale.

"I will buy that Spiky Slime for twenty million credits right now!"

"I will buy it for thirty million!"

"No! Sell it to me for forty million! If that’s not enough, I can easily offer even more!"

The traveling merchant smiled beneath his deep hood as the exact outcome he wanted finally unfolded before his eyes. Taking a few paces away from the shouting crowd, the traveling merchant turned around and approached his remaining two beasts.

"To those who truly want to buy these beasts... I have one strict condition. I will sell them for only ten million credits each."

Hearing such a massive discount, everyone instantly fell silent, eagerly anticipating the condition he was about to lay down.

"If you want to purchase my beasts, you must pledge your solemn allegiance to clearing the Nexus Network. How does that sound to you?"

However, the traveling merchant didn’t expect the overwhelming response that immediately erupted from the crowd.

"Clearing the Nexus Network is already our ultimate goal! If we have a powerful beast like yours on our side, then we can clear the Nexus Network with total ease!"

The traveling merchant smiled in genuine relief as he successfully achieved his main goal for setting up this stall. He wanted the local people to gain access to affordable and exceptionally powerful beasts—monsters strong enough to stop the expansion of the Nexus Network before it could ever spread into the residential sectors of the Hanging City.

"Can I... can I still keep this beast for free?" Usaff asked, a flush of suppressed embarrassment coloring his cheeks. "Do I have to pay you anything now?"

"No," the traveling merchant answered immediately, his tone warm and assuring. "That one is already yours. And make sure to tell Ulyssia that the rest of the beasts are all ready for her group. You don’t have to worry about buying beasts ever again."

Usaff’s eyes widened in total disbelief.

"How do you know about my sister?" Usaff asked, his eyes filled with overwhelming curiosity and surprise.

The traveling merchant simply smiled as he reached up for the edges of his hood. Then, he slowly pulled it back, exposing his youthful face to the entire public.

"Are you... are you perhaps Terrence?" Usaff asked in breathless anticipation, half-hoping he was somehow mistaken, but the former merchant gave him a slow, decisive nod.

"That’s right, I am Terrence. You must be Uly’s younger brother, huh?"

And just like that, without even realizing it himself, Usaff felt an overwhelming surge of deep respect bloom in his heart toward Terrence.

Terrence then efficiently supplied the rest of the eager crowd with the high-grade beasts he had brought out for sale. Some buyers were overly demanding, but before they could cause any disturbance, he quickly put them in their place with his cold composure.

By the time the sun began to set, Terrence had successfully sold at least fifteen mutated beasts rated at C-Rank and above in total. It was a historic feat that couldn’t even be recorded in official city logs without raising endless questions. Someone who possessed the rare ability to sell tamed beasts had just dropped a massive stock of elite creatures, secretly skyrocketing the defensive power of the Hanging City in a single afternoon.

The entire makeshift stall Terrence had set up in the city plaza turned out to be a massive success.

As the shocking news rapidly spread throughout the city streets, everyone could only wonder in awe—how on earth did a single tamer manage to capture and hold such a vast number of high-grade beasts all by himself?

A short while later, Terrence finally led Usaff back down to meet Ulyssia, who was still waiting anxiously near a shaded corner of the city plaza.

When she caught sight of the two of them walking toward her together, she couldn’t believe her own eyes.

"Sis, you won’t believe it! The legendary traveling merchant is actually Terrence!"

Ulyssia stared at Usaff with her lips parted in utter shock. Her wide eyes then shifted directly to Terrence, who was still wearing the tattered grey robes over his shoulders.

"What on earth just happened over there? You were the traveling merchant this whole time?" Ulyssia asked, trying to wrap her head around the situation.

"Well, a lot of things happened back there," Terrence chuckled softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "More importantly, I have all the beasts you and your group needed."

Ulyssia’s face immediately flashed with unbridled joy and newfound hope. As she looked over at her two waiting friends, Usaff puffed out his chest and stepped forward with a proud, confident expression.

"And Terrence just gave me my very first beast completely for free. Which technically makes me the favored one around here," Usaff declared proudly, crossing his arms.

Ulyssia’s brows furrowed in complete confusion. "Wait... Hm... Weren’t you just complaining about him a second ago—?!"

"Sis!" Usaff panicked, lunging forward to quickly cover his sister’s mouth with his hand. "How about we just go check out the rest of Terrence’s amazing beasts right now?"
