Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 670: Hello 18
“What will you do with this planet?” Moira Lynch asked curiously.
Without even looking up, Ellers replied, “The pollution on this planet is too severe. It’s already seeped into its very core. Even with the Holy Light, it can no longer be completely saved.”
He paused for a moment before continuing, “Fortunately, you made the decisive call to contact us. Otherwise, once this planet was completely contaminated, it would have become a toxic egg, not only polluting its own star system but potentially affecting others as well.”
After speaking, he pointed to the Time Black Water on the monitor. “By then, this entire galaxy would have turned into Time Black Water.”
Hearing the words “can no longer be saved,” Moira Lynch fell silent for a long moment before asking, “Is there really no other way?”
“There is a way, of course, but it’s an extremely lengthy process.”
Ellers turned to Moira Lynch and explained, “Every planet actually has its own Purification System. It’s like the immune system in a human body. For minor illnesses, the immune system can handle it and recover automatically without medicine.
“But for major diseases, a doctor’s intervention is necessary.
“This planet is now like a critically ill patient; it can no longer heal using its own immune system. The role we’re playing now is that of the doctor. Therefore, our first step is to completely clear out and eliminate all sources of pollution on this planet.”
“All of them?”
Moira Lynch looked at the Time Black Water on the monitor and saw that people were already taking action.
“Where will this Time Black Water be taken?” Moira Lynch asked.
“A contaminant of this level is extremely difficult to eliminate completely. A single misstep could cause new contamination. So, for safety’s sake, it will be temporarily stored in the highest-security military warehouses until an effective disposal method can be developed. Only then will it be brought out for destruction.”
Moira Lynch nodded, agreeing with Ellers’s explanation.
Turning to look at another monitor, she saw a group of armed personnel carrying out a humane culling of the planet’s contaminated flora and fauna.
Seeing her expression, Ellers explained again, “They are already contaminated. To prevent them from becoming new sources of pollution, they must be eliminated.”
“There are still humans on this planet. Do they have to be… as well?” Moira Lynch asked.
She didn’t even realize that her own voice was trembling slightly as she asked the question.
Rationally, Moira Lynch knew Ellers was doing the right thing. After all, the survival of the entire interstellar community was at stake.
Moreover, the people on this planet were the main culprits behind its severe pollution. But emotionally, she couldn’t bear the thought.
“You don’t need to worry about that. We aren’t completely unreasonable. This planet is simply no longer habitable. We will temporarily relocate the surviving humans to another planet.
“However, before that, they must undergo strict screening. Only those who pass will be allowed to leave.”
As for those who don’t pass… well, one can only say, ‘I’m sorry.’
“In addition, those who pass the screening will face a quarantine period of one to two years at minimum, and twenty to thirty years at maximum.
“During this time, they can still live as they did before—everything will be the same, just on a different planet. The only restriction is that during the quarantine, they are not allowed to contact the outside world, much less leave their new home world.”
Just as Moira Lynch was about to respond to Ellers’s explanation, a terrifying roar suddenly erupted from below.
In the lake, after most of the Time Black Water had been siphoned away, the creature hidden within could finally restrain itself no longer. It poked its head out from the depths.
A neck hundreds of meters long emerged from the water. It had pitch-black skin, red eyes, and emanated a malevolent aura, looking like a monster that had crawled straight out of hell.
With the monster’s appearance, countless shadow-beasts also materialized, while the ground began to spew forth all sorts of black insects that swarmed thickly over the entire landscape.
In the sky, the Aetherwing circled, screeching warnings at the ships that were siphoning the Time Black Water.
On the ground, countless giant dinosaurs appeared from out of nowhere.
“ROAR!!!”
Following the enraged roar from the monster in the Time Black Water, all the dinosaurs, insects, and shadow-beasts charged toward them.
Moira Lynch was startled by the scene.
She was now incredibly glad for the decision she’d made not to confront the Time Black Water head-on. This overwhelming onslaught… it was more apocalyptic than the apocalypse itself.
Although she knew this pool of Time Black Water was preparing a big move, she truly hadn’t expected such a colossal beast to be hiding beneath it.
‘Was this thing coiled up or standing straight underwater?’
‘If it was coiled, that’s one thing. But if it was standing straight, that’s a real problem. It would mean the lake is at least a hundred meters deep.’
At this moment, the others who had finished their standoff also gathered around. Staring at the overwhelming scene, Kai York wore the same expression of lingering fear as Moira Lynch had moments before.
He turned to Moira Lynch and said, “You really had the foresight.” He was referring to her calling for reinforcements; they had almost been duped by this planet’s consciousness.
‘Looking at this scene… forget just him and Moira Lynch. Even if you added the boss and Hugh Finch, and then multiplied that group by ten, they still might not have been able to handle this.’
Moira Lynch looked at the monster’s body hidden beneath the water and released her spiritual power.
She wanted to probe just how much more of the monster was hidden from view.
However, the instant Moira Lynch’s spiritual power approached the Time Black Water, she immediately sensed something was wrong.
She felt something crawling back toward her along the spirit silk.
Just then, Ellers, who had also sensed the danger, shouted to Moira Lynch, “It’s trying to contaminate you! Sever your spirit silk, now!”
Hearing his warning, Moira Lynch didn’t hesitate. She decisively severed the strands of spirit silk she had sent to probe the Time Black Water.
Although doing so would put a certain strain on her body, it was far better than being contaminated by the Time Black Water.
Seeing that Moira Lynch had severed the connection and was out of danger, Ellers breathed a sigh of relief. He explained, “My apologies, I didn’t warn you beforehand. This source of pollution has now been fully activated. It’s extremely contagious, and any form of contact can lead to infection—even spirit silk is no exception.”
