Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 595 - 585: Sound Source Pollution 37

When the meditation method suddenly appeared in his mind, Barry Wallace was utterly shocked.

The scene was an exact replica of a peerless master passing down cultivation techniques to a disciple.

After calming down, Barry Wallace looked at the eager, excited faces around him, swallowed hard, and said, "It’s not safe here. Wyatt, why don’t we go somewhere more secure?"

Hearing this, Wyatt Lewis, though desperate to learn the cultivation method himself, knew Barry was right.

And so, they were led to a building that had clearly been modified.

This building was none other than the place where Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch had been staying.

As soon as they returned, Barry Wallace was swarmed by the crowd, while Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch found a place to rest.

A little bored, Moira Lynch activated her wrist-screen.

Under the circumstances, the normal internet was surely down.

However, during a previous network intrusion, she had found an extremely well-hidden dark web network.

She opened the dark web forum, which was filled with all sorts of discussions about the apocalypse. Some people even posted photos of the monsters they had killed.

Some of the bolder ones had even taken monster carcasses back for research.

It just went to show that the world was never short of capable people.

Moira Lynch thought for a moment, then anonymously posted the meditation method.

’It’s not like this meditation method is some big secret, anyway.’

At first, no one paid any attention to the post Moira had made, but she wasn’t worried. She continued browsing the other threads.

Just then, her eyes fell upon a particular thread.

#SHOCKING! Thunder Messenger Appears in Fountis!#

The post was accompanied by a photo of a lightning strike.

Judging by the distance in the photo, whoever took it must have been quite far from the lightning.

But even so, you could still feel the immense destructive power of the bolt.

And the replies to the post were a sea of shock and awe.

"Hugh, look at this post. Does it look familiar to you?"

Moira Lynch held the wrist-screen out in front of Hugh Finch.

It was just a photo of a lightning strike, with no one in sight, but she couldn’t think of anyone else in the world capable of something like this besides Shane Rhodes.

"That should be the boss. I’ve seen him use this move before."

After getting Hugh Finch’s confirmation, Moira Lynch checked the post’s timestamp: twenty minutes ago.

"At least this means he’s still alive."

This was definitely good news for the two of them.

"Should we go find him?" Hugh Finch asked.

Moira Lynch didn’t answer, instead pulling up a map on her wrist-screen.

According to the map, Portmire was quite far from Fountis—a flight of nearly ten hours.

Seeing the distance, Moira Lynch decisively abandoned the idea of going to find him.

As they were talking, Barry Wallace came over. He spoke hesitantly, "Um, Young Lynn, Mr. Finch, they’re planning to leave Portmire today. They wanted to know if we’ll go with them."

"Leave? To where?" Moira Lynch asked.

"The closest city to the City of Portmire is Novus. We’re planning to check it out."

Just then, Wyatt Lewis walked over and added, "There are too few survivors left in Portmire. Most of those who’ve awakened have abilities with little to no combat power. Plus, our weapons are almost used up. If we stay here, we’re just waiting to die."

Moira Lynch weighed the options—traveling with the main group versus going alone—and after a moment’s thought, decided to stick with the group.

"We’ll go together, then. There’s strength in numbers."

Hearing Moira Lynch agree, Barry Wallace visibly breathed a sigh of relief.

"In that case, we’ll rest for a bit and leave once the wounded have recovered," Wyatt said.

Wyatt Lewis glanced at Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch and said, "I see the three of you only have one backpack’s worth of luggage. That won’t do. We’re about to head out to find some vehicles for the journey. If you need anything, you can come along and gather supplies."

After Wyatt Lewis finished speaking, Moira Lynch nodded. "We understand. Thank you for the heads-up.

A short while later, under Wyatt Lewis’s leadership, a dozen or so men headed outside.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch followed.

Before leaving, Moira Lynch made a special trip to the kitchen and found several large jugs used for holding purified water.

After emptying them, she tied them to her waist.

Seeing Moira Lynch’s strange getup, Hugh Finch asked, "What are you going to do with those?"

"They’re for gasoline. In a bit, you find a car, I’ll collect the fuel."

Cars were everywhere on the streets, but finding one in working condition wasn’t easy.

Nearly every car had shattered windows, the ground was littered with broken glass, and many had their tires punctured, rendering them useless.

As for these unusable cars, Moira Lynch operated on a single principle: waste nothing. She siphoned all the gasoline from their tanks.

Don’t think this was an easy job. Sometimes, to get better access to the fuel tank, Moira Lynch had to right cars that were overturned or lying on their side.

In short, it was a huge pain.

What Moira Lynch didn’t notice was that when she single-handedly flipped a car that was upside down back onto its wheels, Wyatt Lewis and the others stared at her in terror.

"Barry, let me ask you... what in the world are these two friends of yours?"

Barry Wallace was clearly stunned by the scene as well.

After spending this time with them, he had seen so many things he never could have imagined. He thought he had gotten used to it, but apparently, he hadn’t.

’What are they?’

’They’re aliens!’

"I’m not sure either. It’s probably related to their abilities," Barry Wallace said, laughing it off.

"Abilities? Isn’t her ability archery? How did she get so strong?"

While it’s not impossible for some people to be naturally strong, or to build up incredible strength through training, it shouldn’t be possible to get *this* strong.

She just lifted a car.

He had seen it perfectly clearly just now. She hadn’t even pushed it; she had straight up lifted it.

"I don’t know about that either. But they’re geniuses, after all. Leader, you forgot, she’s the one who provided the cultivation method. Since she’s a genius, of course she’s different from us normal folks."

Barry Wallace passed the buck entirely to Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch, figuring the leader would never be able to verify it anyway.

And even if he did, Young Lynn and Mr. Finch wouldn’t expose him.
