She had thought this might be a parallel version of Caelus, but it seemed she was mistaken.

After finally finding a gold shop on the side of the street, Moira Lynch happily walked inside.

When she entered the gold shop, she didn’t see anyone inside. To make communication easier, Moira Lynch partially reconnected the severed nerves in her ears.

Walking up to the counter, Moira Lynch asked, "Sir, what’s the price of gold today?"

The shopkeeper first sized Moira Lynch up, his eyes immediately landing on the Gold bracelet on her wrist. A smile instantly spread across his face as he said, "Today’s gold price is 720.35 per gram."

Hearing the price, Moira Lynch glanced at the Gold bracelet on her wrist.

The bracelet had a net weight of two hundred grams. If she sold it all, she’d get over one hundred and forty thousand.

’That seems like a bit much. What if I can’t spend it all? That would be a waste.’

After some thought, Moira Lynch decided to sell half for now.

She took the bracelet off her wrist. It had been specially designed at the clasp so that it could be conveniently sold for cash at any time.

"I’ll sell one hundred grams. Sir, can you pay in cash?" Moira Lynch asked.

’If he can’t, I’ll just have to find another shop. After all, I’m undocumented here and don’t have a bank account.’

Hearing her question, the shopkeeper readily replied, "Of course. Let’s weigh it first."

Moira Lynch counted out one hundred small Gold links from the bracelet. Each link weighed exactly one gram.

Now half its original size, the Gold bracelet was put back on Moira Lynch’s wrist.

After verifying the Gold’s quality, the shopkeeper briskly counted out seventy-two thousand and thirty-five in cash.

It was only then that Moira Lynch realized the largest denomination of currency in this world was a one-thousand-unit bill.

Moira Lynch had been wondering if she should ask the shopkeeper for a bag to hold the seventy-thousand-plus in cash.

Now, it seemed that thought was completely unnecessary. She could just stuff the money in her pocket and leave.

’Still, with such a large denomination, if I accidentally lost just one bill, it would be a disaster!’

After leaving the gold shop, she initially wanted to go buy the headphones she had seen earlier. But when she thought about the price, she hesitated. ’I should buy other things first. The headphones can wait.’

And so, Moira Lynch meandered from the city center, eventually finding a real estate agency.

She needed to live here for over thirty days, so her first priority was to find a place to stay.

With limited cash on hand and other things to buy, her budget for housing wasn’t very large.

Fortunately, Moira Lynch quickly found a place that suited her.

It was an older but not-too-decrepit residential complex. Its facilities, environment, location, and price were all middling.

Most importantly, while other apartments required a minimum lease of three or six months, this one could be rented for just a month. The deposit was also cheap at only two thousand, and the rent was five thousand, for a total of seven thousand.

The apartment had natural gas, air conditioning, a TV, and a refrigerator. It was a one-bedroom, one-living-room, one-kitchen, and one-bathroom unit—in short, it was fully equipped.

With such amenities at that price—and more importantly, a deposit of only two thousand—anyone would suspect there was something wrong with the apartment.

Of course, Moira Lynch was suspicious too, but she wasn’t afraid.

’Are you kidding me? After everything I’ve been through recently, why would I be afraid of this?’

After paying and getting the keys, Moira Lynch first looked around the apartment, then used her spiritual power to meticulously scan every corner.

Finding nothing amiss, she rested for a short while before getting up to go out again.

Since she would be living here for thirty days, food and water were absolute necessities.

There was also the matter of bedding and so on. She had just checked the rental and saw that none of these things were provided. There weren’t even any pots or pans. Apparently, she would have to get all of that herself.

Arriving at the nearest supermarket, Moira Lynch grabbed a cart and began tossing food into it as she walked.

She quickly ran into a serious problem: her appetite.

Her appetite was far greater than that of an ordinary person, meaning she would need much more food than she’d planned.

For this reason, Moira Lynch deliberately chose foods that were high in calories and very filling.

Furthermore, she didn’t plan on cooking in the apartment, so items like rice and flour were off the table.

Soon, Moira Lynch had stuffed the shopping cart full.

Moira Lynch pushed the cart to the checkout. After paying, she was surprised to find that all of it had only cost a few hundred. It was so cheap, especially considering the large quantity of items she had bought.

’Looks like the cost of living here is even lower than I thought.’

This was good news for Moira Lynch; it meant her money would last longer.

Carrying bags of all sizes, she found a deserted corner. After confirming there were no security cameras around, Moira Lynch stored everything in her space.

Once that was done, she turned and headed for another supermarket.

After repeating this process a few more times, Moira Lynch finally had all the food and water she needed.

As the sky outside grew dark, Moira Lynch returned to the rental, carrying some food and daily necessities.

Upon entering the apartment, Moira Lynch didn’t rest right away. She first set down her things, then started cleaning and changing the bed linens.

It took her over an hour to give the place a decent cleaning, from the bedroom to the kitchen.

After finishing all that, Moira Lynch plopped down onto the sofa and looked out the window.

The sky outside was completely dark by now, but the world had not grown quiet with it. In fact, Moira Lynch could feel that it was even livelier outside now than it had been during the day.

Her building, which had been deathly quiet during the day, seemed to come alive at night, growing incredibly noisy.

As Moira Lynch listened to the noise coming from all directions, she finally understood why the rent for this apartment was so cheap.

She recalled a clause in the contract she had signed: if the tenant moved out early for any reason, the landlord was not liable, and neither the rent nor the deposit would be refunded.

’Thinking about it now, it’s a total trap.’

’Fine. I’ll go for a walk.’

Moira Lynch decided to wander around outside.

Once she was outside again, she found it wasn’t much better than in the apartment. Without hesitation, she severed the nerves in her ears again, and the world finally fell silent once more.
