Chapter 551 - 541: Curing an Illness? A Piece of Cake

  • Next Chapter

A woman came running and shouting, "It’s an emergency! Sir is in critical condition again!"

The butler’s face fell the moment he saw her.

Without a moment’s hesitation, he spun around, hoisted Moira Lynch—who was just a step behind him—onto his shoulder, and sprinted toward the palace.

Moira Lynch felt the world spin, followed by a series of violent jolts that made it nearly impossible for her to speak.

’If I could have spoken at that moment,’ Moira thought, ’I would have said just one thing: Mister, please put me down. I can run on my own. Really. I’m definitely faster than you.’

Still, Moira Lynch could somewhat understand the butler’s actions.

Drawing on her immense spiritual power, she easily located the dying old man within the palace.

The only problem was that the palace-like building was simply too massive. Even with the butler sprinting at full speed, it would likely take him over ten minutes to reach their destination.

But it was clear the old man didn’t have ten more minutes to wait.

To ensure her hefty reward didn’t vanish into thin air, Moira Lynch used her Space Power to teleport herself and the butler into the old man’s room.

A group of anxious-looking medical staff surrounded the old man.

They were all highly-paid medical personnel the old man had hired specifically to monitor and maintain his physical condition.

As for why he had only hired medical staff and not a Healing Mage, the reason was simple: the Healing Mages were all helpless against his illness. Hiring them would have been a complete waste of money.

With the old man’s illness, any ordinary person would have been pushing up daisies long ago. He had only survived this long because this medical team was keeping him alive, sparing no expense.

But now, that precariously maintained balance had finally reached its breaking point.

As they watched every indicator on the machines turn red and blare alarms, the medical staff felt truly helpless for the first time.

After all, they had already tried every method at their disposal. Now, they were well and truly at their wits’ end.

A short while ago, the old man’s body had miraculously improved, as if a new surge of vitality had been injected into him, much to the delight of the entire medical team.

With that burst of vitality, combined with their medical care, they were confident they could extend the old man’s life by another three months.

However, just as their confidence soared, the old man decided to go and court death himself.

He had taken his newly recovered body and piloted a Combat Spaceship, even executing a space jump—a maneuver that even professional pilots needed extensive training to attempt.

It required not only masterful skill but also a powerful physique to withstand the impact of the jump.

The old man’s skill was unquestionable, but his physical constitution was clearly lacking by a wide margin.

Now, all they could do was hope for a miracle to save the old man’s life.

The shrill, incessant wail of the alarms filled the room like a death knell, making everyone’s heart clench in their chest.

At that critical moment, two figures suddenly appeared out of nowhere, right in front of them.

Before anyone could react, someone recognized one of the figures as the old man’s most trusted butler.

The butler himself hadn’t quite processed what had just happened either.

But he had no time to worry about that. Seeing the beeping machines, he quickly lowered Moira Lynch from his shoulder.

At that moment, Moira Lynch had become his last hope.

Moira Lynch knew how urgent the situation was. Ignoring the nausea from being jostled around, she quickly strode to the old man’s side.

The old man was hooked up to all sorts of machines.

Moira Lynch couldn’t read the data on the monitors, but she knew the old man’s condition was dire.

It was safe to say that if she hadn’t arrived when she did, the old man would have been gone in minutes.

A ball of white flame appeared in her hand. Without a word, she pressed it straight into the old man’s body.

As the flame entered him, the beeping machines fell silent, and the data on the screens began to climb.

It wasn’t by much, but it was enough to pull the old man out of critical condition.

Moira Lynch then pressed several more balls of flame into his body, pulling him back from death’s door completely.

After all that, Moira Lynch finally breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to the butler who had brought her and said, "He’s out of danger for now. Have all this equipment removed. It will be difficult to proceed with the next stage of treatment otherwise."

Mostly, Moira Lynch just found the equipment to be a hassle.

The dense tangle of wires connected to his body made him look like a marionette.

Hearing Moira Lynch’s words, the butler and the others snapped out of their stupor, as if waking from a dream.

The medical staff, in particular, stared at Moira Lynch as if she were a monster.

They had been in this position for many years and had seen countless Healing Mages brought in to treat the old man, including even a princess from The Royal Court.

But the results were always negligible, if there were any results at all.

Yet this person before them had saved him just by pushing a few balls of white... stuff into his body. The old man, who had been one foot from death’s door, was simply brought back.

This wasn’t just snatching someone from the King of Hell’s grasp. This was kicking down the King of Hell’s front door, grabbing him by the collar to demand the person back, and spitting in his face while doing it.

"Yes, yes! I’ll have the equipment removed right away!"

After what had just happened, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the butler now treated Moira Lynch’s words as a royal decree.

True to his word, he immediately ordered everyone to remove all the equipment from the room.

A few minutes later, the once-crowded room felt much more spacious.

The medical staff had also been asked to leave, but they shamelessly insisted on staying. They wanted to witness the old man’s treatment process with their own eyes.

Their excuse was that their presence was necessary to monitor the old man’s condition.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch didn’t press the issue. It was fine; they could stay and help.

She didn’t rush into the next phase of treatment, deciding to wait for the old man to regain consciousness. For one, she needed the butler to prepare a few things. For another, she wanted to let the old man’s body acclimate to its new state.

’Besides, once he’s awake, I can make sure he knows exactly who saved him. This will prevent anyone else from stealing my credit, or worse, him refusing to pay up afterward.’
