Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 484 - 474: Kai York’s New Talent
Seeing the mischievous grin on Moira Lynch’s face, Hugh Finch shook his head decisively. "I think I’ll pass."
At the same time, he made a silent vow. ’From now on, unless it’s absolutely necessary, I will never use those two abilities. And I will never let anyone other than Moira Lynch and me know about this.’
Just then, Moira Lynch heard a DING-DONG. She checked and saw that the commission for the mission had arrived.
Because Moira Lynch had given nearly ninety percent of the mission’s points to Hugh Finch, her own level didn’t change.
Hugh Finch, on the other hand, had received such a huge amount of points that his adventurer level shot up from E-rank to D-rank. He was now just a little shy of reaching C-rank.
"The mission’s complete. Let’s head back," Moira Lynch said.
Hugh Finch hummed in agreement and nodded.
This time, Moira Lynch didn’t cover his eyes. Instead, she opened the Teleportation Gate again.
"Go through the gate. Caelus is on the other side, right at the spot where we disappeared."
Passing through the Teleportation Gate, the two appeared over the same stretch of ocean they had vanished from.
Fortunately, they were prepared and had taken out their boat in advance.
Hugh Finch watched the blue gate fade away and asked curiously, "Is this Teleportation Gate also an item you got in the game?"
"Nope. I bought this Teleportation Gate from the game shop for a hefty price, then I fused it with several high-level items, and it ended up like this."
Hearing Moira Lynch say this, Hugh Finch’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Items can be fused together?"
Moira Lynch shrugged. "I’m not too sure myself. I guess so? The System was the one that offered to help me fuse them. I looked at the items it was going to use, and I thought their abilities were pretty useless. The chance of me actually using them was low, so I agreed."
"The System offered to help *you*? Can I ask what the items were?" Hugh Finch asked again.
As far as he knew, the game system only ever responded to Moira Lynch. It completely ignored all other players.
At his words, Moira Lynch fell into thought, trying to recall.
"Back at the planet auction, I got a ton of items. Most were beginner and intermediate, but there was a decent number of advanced ones too. There were so many that some just got consumed for no reason, and the rest were sorted into storage by Patience..."
Just then, Patience jumped in to remind her:
"Master, they were Instant Teleportation, Teleportation, Tracking, Locking, Portal, and Space Stabilization."
"Right, right, right, those are the ones."
After Moira Lynch repeated what Patience said, Hugh Finch’s eyes widened in utter disbelief. "How could the abilities of those items possibly be useless?"
If he weren’t holding an oar right now, he would have been tempted to grab Moira Lynch’s head and shake it hard to see if she had water sloshing around in there.
"They *are* useless. Don’t just look at how powerful these abilities seem. They all have usage restrictions and really long cooldown times. Besides, my own talent is space-related. I can already do things like Instant Teleportation and Teleportation."
"Have you forgotten the Space Dagger? I made that. Anything the Space Dagger can do, I can do—and more."
"As for tracking and locking, my spiritual power can do that too."
After hearing Moira Lynch’s explanation, Hugh Finch was momentarily at a loss for words. It seemed... she was right.
He had just been looking at it from his own perspective. From his point of view, the abilities of those items were undoubtedly powerful.
But from Moira Lynch’s perspective, they really were useless.
What could he say? Moira Lynch was just too versatile.
Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch returned at around five in the morning. The sky over Veridian Prime was just beginning to lighten with the dawn.
The sun of Veridian Prime was usually similar to that of Caelus, but with one difference.
The sunrise on Caelus was red, but the sunrise on Veridian Prime was a pale cyan.
The sun itself was like a precious pearl, shrouded in a thin layer of gauze, radiating a gentle aura. It was an incredibly beautiful sight.
An hour later, Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch arrived safely at Moira’s small island. The Elf Tree House growing in the center of the island was particularly eye-catching.
In the time they were away, the people who had immigrated here from Caelus had gradually adapted to their new lives.
After facing the harsh, extreme weather on Caelus for so long, these people were moved to tears of joy now that they were on Veridian Prime.
Some people had even started vegetable gardens in front of their Elf Tree Houses and planted vegetables.
Arriving at the door of the Elf Tree House, she reached out and pushed it open.
"What are you guys doing!"
Looking at the scene in the living room, Moira Lynch couldn’t help but scream.
All the furniture that should have been on the living room floor was floating in mid-air.
And the culprit behind it all, Kai York, was sitting cross-legged in mid-air with nothing beneath his rear.
He was holding a teacup, but it was empty. Not far from him, a blob of tea floated silently in space.
The scene looked exactly like something that would happen with an astronaut in space.
Startled by the sudden voice, Kai York jumped. Immediately, he and everything around him began to fall rapidly.
Just as everything was about to crash heavily onto the floor, Kai York managed to react in time. When they were only a few centimeters from the ground, a sudden gale blew through the living room, steadily catching him and all the falling furniture.
The floating blob of tea, however, wasn’t so lucky and splattered all over the floor.
Only after the dust had settled did Moira Lynch and Hugh Finch walk into the living room.
"Didn’t you say it would take several days? Why are you back so soon?" Kai York asked, composing himself after the scare.
"The mission went smoothly, so we finished early and came back. By the way, was that a new ability you awakened after taking the Verasi Potion?" Hugh Finch asked.
Hearing Hugh Finch’s question, a smug smile appeared on Kai York’s face. "Not a new ability, a new talent. After taking the Verasi Potion, I awakened a new talent: Universal Gravitation. As the name implies, I can control gravity, just like I was doing."
After speaking, he glanced at Moira Lynch and raised his eyebrows. "I awakened a second talent, too. Aren’t I amazing!"
He then tilted his head back, putting on an arrogant, expectant look, as if waiting for praise.
At his words, Moira Lynch snorted. "Tch. It’s just a new talent. Who doesn’t have one?"
