Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 464 - 454: Black Wolf Got Fat
However...
Looking at the island’s scenery, Moira Lynch suddenly thought that leaving it as it was might not be a bad idea.
From what she could see, there was a lake in the distance. According to the information the Black Wolf had provided, the lake contained fresh water and even had fish.
Looking further to the side,
some distance from the lake, a stretch of forest stood, and it seemed to contain a few fruit trees.
With her current eyesight, Moira Lynch could clearly see the fruit on the trees.
It wasn’t their ripening season yet. The fruits on the trees were only the size of a fist and all of them were green, still a long way from being ripe.
This patch of woods could be turned into an orchard.
Moira Lynch surveyed the area, a nascent plan already forming in her mind. But she wasn’t in a hurry to act. ’Let’s just leave things as they are for a while,’ she thought.
After all, breaking ground was something that required choosing an auspicious date.
...
Okay, she had to admit she was just too lazy to move.
She had chosen this place because the island was large, thinking the Black Wolf would have space to roam freely, but she’d forgotten to consider the cleanup involved.
Just as Moira Lynch was about to turn and head back to the Elf Tree House, she suddenly saw the Black Wolf walking toward her not far away.
She could clearly see the disdain in the Black Wolf’s eyes.
"The environment here isn’t as good as in your space. I want to go back," the Black Wolf complained to Moira Lynch.
It’s so comfortable in the space. The temperature is constant, it’s like spring all year round, there’s plenty to eat and drink, and every need is catered to.
The Black Wolf looked at Moira Lynch, its eyes full of impatience.
Moira Lynch, however, completely ignored its gaze. She walked over to the Black Wolf’s side and reached out to pet its belly.
"What are you doing?"
The Black Wolf frowned and asked fiercely, but its body made no move to dodge, letting Moira Lynch pet it as she pleased.
Moira Lynch enjoyed the soft feel of the Black Wolf’s belly for a moment before pulling her hand back. "You did look at the files I showed you before, right?"
The Black Wolf seemed surprised that Moira Lynch would suddenly bring this up, but it answered truthfully, "I was very satisfied with that person’s design. Didn’t I have Patience tell you that a long time ago? Have you forgotten? When did your memory get so bad?"
Moira Lynch took a deep breath, turned to the Black Wolf with a smile, and said, "You didn’t change any of the data on it. But don’t you think you’ve changed a lot recently compared to before?"
Hearing this, the Black Wolf lifted a paw to inspect it, then looked left and right before saying, "I’ve been eating well and sleeping well lately. My fur is smoother, and my body is more robust."
"You’ve gotten fat."
Moira Lynch stated the fact expressionlessly.
As soon as she said it, the Black Wolf reacted as if its tail had been stepped on. "What nonsense are you spouting? I’m a magnificent Battle Wolf, a born king! How could I possibly get fat? Don’t talk rubbish."
Seeing the Black Wolf’s stubborn denial, Moira Lynch wasted no more words and had Patience project a comparison image.
Patience projected a life-sized image of the Black Wolf from when it first met Moira Lynch right next to it.
Looking at the current Black Wolf by itself, one wouldn’t think anything was wrong. But as the saying goes, comparisons are cruel.
The sight of the current Black Wolf standing before its former self could only be described as tragic.
"That doesn’t count! That was a long time ago. All this time has passed, am I not allowed to grow up?"
the Black Wolf argued, its voice full of false confidence, firmly believing it had just grown bigger, not fatter.
The next second, Patience projected an image of a normal Battle Wolf of roughly the same age.
Compared to the projection of its younger self, this new wolf was indeed several sizes larger. It was handsome and majestic, with sharp eyes. Its white fur shone like silver armor, or perhaps like an ethereal silk robe draped over its body.
And then there was the Black Wolf.
It was a full size plumper than the white Battle Wolf next to it. Not bigger, but fatter.
The other wolf had long, slender limbs. While the Black Wolf also had long limbs, they looked chubby and quite thick.
The other wolf’s gaze was incredibly sharp, while its...
Moira Lynch didn’t even want to say it.
The Black Wolf used to have sharp eyes, too. But now, its pair of golden eyes shone with clarity and foolishness.
"That’s because I’m mutated."
The Black Wolf continued its desperate resistance, refusing to admit it was fat as if the admission itself would be the greatest humiliation of its life.
Seeing this, Moira Lynch played her trump card.
"Since you won’t admit you’re fat, how about you start by running a hundred laps around the island?"
’If you won’t admit it, then start running.’
Hearing this, the Black Wolf hesitated.
In the past, a mere hundred laps wouldn’t have even been enough for a warm-up, but now...
Ever since it moved into the space, aside from being called out by Moira Lynch to help a few times, it had spent the rest of its time enjoying life in the space like a lord.
Even its three daily meals were brought to it by its dog underlings.
To put it this way, if it weren’t for the fact that you can’t have someone else take a crap for you, it would have laid in one spot without moving for an entire day.
After hesitating for a moment, the Black Wolf gritted its teeth. Its pride was still the most important thing. Leaving behind a "Fine, I’ll go! You just wait!" it turned and started running.
Watching that figure, which was far less agile than before, Moira Lynch couldn’t help but sigh. Her eyes filled with a complex mix of worry and some other unreadable emotion.
’I think I’ve ruined a mutated black wolf by spoiling it.’
’Still, it’s good that I’ve realized this now. It’s not too late.’
’After the Black Wolf finishes its hundred laps, I’ll have it plant fruit trees.’
’Waiting for saplings to grow is too slow. I’ll transplant them directly from the space. With the Water Wood Stone, the survival rate should be fine.’
’Besides, planting big trees will also increase its exercise.’
’Yep, it’s happily decided.’
’A look at the calendar shows that tomorrow is a good day for breaking ground. Tomorrow it is, then.’
Having arranged the Black Wolf’s work for the next day, Moira Lynch returned to her room, pleased with herself.
Suddenly, Patience chimed in, [Master, your task has received feedback. The other party is very satisfied with your submission. As soon as you confirm the task, you can receive the Verasi Potion.]
Moira Lynch followed Patience’s prompt and clicked to confirm the task. In the blink of an eye, a small Teleportation Gate appeared before her.
Immediately after, a test tube containing a pink medicine was teleported through.
Seeing this, Moira Lynch quickly caught the pink test tube.
Looking closely, the Verasi Potion was actually quite pretty. It was as if it were filled with glitter, and you could see shimmering particles inside.
Setting the Verasi Potion aside for a moment, Moira Lynch then took out the Pharmacy Box.
At this point, the Pharmacy Box could no longer really be called a box. At some unknown point in time, the original Pharmacy Box had transformed into a transparent, light-blue ring that emanated a faint blue glow.
