Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 425 - 415: Seafaring Carnival 17
Moira Lynch looked around. ’There’s no one else here.’
Seeing Joy Rhodes walking in her direction...
’Could it be... I’m Brillion?’
Moira finally realized that her cover identity included the name pronounced "zhao yi."
’So, she meant Trillion, not Brillion.’
When Joy Rhodes got closer and saw MoonlitTears was there too, the smile on her face instantly vanished.
Before the apocalypse, Joy had been raised as the heir to her family. At eighteen, she began gradually taking over the family business and had held high-ranking positions for years. If nothing else, she was extremely confident in her ability to judge people.
So, the moment she saw MoonlitTears, she saw right through her.
Joy reached out, pulled Moira behind her, and shielded her like a mother hen protecting her chick.
She shot MoonlitTears a warning look, snorted coldly, and pulled Moira away.
On the way back, Joy frowned and asked, "What were you two doing together? Didn’t I tell you to stay away from her? She’s not a good person."
"I didn’t want to be! She came up to me herself, saying she wanted to apologize for what happened before and wanted me to forgive her," Moira said, puffing out her cheeks indignantly.
"So you forgave her?"
Moira nodded. "I did. That way, she’ll stop bothering me."
Hearing the first half of the sentence, Joy’s brow furrowed instantly, and she looked ready to give Moira a lecture.
In her eyes, Moira was just too kind, too soft-hearted, forgiving MoonlitTears the moment she put on a pitiful act.
But on second thought, Moira was only eighteen, just barely an adult. It was normal for someone so inexperienced with the world to be soft-hearted.
However, that thought had barely formed when she heard the second half of Moira’s sentence, and most of her earlier worries instantly vanished.
"Even if it was just to avoid being harassed, you shouldn’t have forgiven her so easily," Joy said earnestly. "You have to understand, there’s a certain type of person in this world who, if you give them an inch, will take a mile. If you’re not careful, they’ll lead you around by the nose."
Moira nodded. "I understand, Joy... er, Clementine. I wasn’t thinking that far ahead. I just wanted to get rid of her quickly."
Joy’s full in-game name was ’Clementine’s Dad’.
The two of them arrived at a relatively large, empty room.
This had originally been the deputy captain’s room. After the deputy captain went missing, the room had been left empty, and on the captain’s orders, all its contents had been moved into his own room.
Moira and the others’ original rooms were too small, and it was a bit cramped for the six of them to eat together. So, Kai York had a flash of inspiration, went to bribe the captain, and got the key to this room from him.
It was a stark reminder that rank makes all the difference. The deputy captain’s room wasn’t just a little better than theirs; it was on a whole other level.
Not only was it more spacious, but it was in a better location and even had a window, offering an ocean view the moment you woke up.
Although Moira’s room also had a view, the feeling was completely different.
"There’s nothing in this room. Are we supposed to eat sitting on the floor?"
Caden York looked around. The room really was completely empty—not even a table or a bed frame was left.
"What do you guys think the captain wants with all this stuff?" Kai York asked curiously.
"The captain only took the deputy captain’s luggage. The other crew members divided up the rest," Moira said unhurriedly.
"How do you know that? Did you see it with your own eyes?"
Moira nodded, a faint smile on her face. "Yes, I saw it with my own eyes."
Not only had she seen the captain order his men to move the deputy captain’s luggage to his room, but she also knew the captain had ordered the other crew members to kill the deputy captain on sight if he ever returned.
As for the luggage, it was filled with items made from rare creatures.
The materials for these items were all banned by the Federation.
For example, Elf Wings.
These were different from the Elf Wings Moira had previously obtained from the Elven Race.
Those wings had been naturally shed and only retained some flight ability.
But these Elf Wings had been brutally torn from living elves.
To ensure the wings remained intact, a large chunk of flesh was usually left attached at the base.
The elf would never survive something like that.
After being soaked in a special chemical solution, the harvested Elf Wings could be turned into a high-grade item.
Elf Wings created this way retained all of the elf’s flight capabilities and even some of its attack power. The user could even perfectly disguise themselves as an elf, making it an incredibly powerful item.
However, the creation process was incredibly cruel. After all, every pair of Elf Wings signified the death of an elf.
Therefore, these items were fiercely condemned by the Elven Race, and anyone who made or used them would be considered an enemy.
Even so, there were still people who couldn’t resist the temptation and were willing to take the risk.
These types of Elf Wings wouldn’t appear on the open market, but they could be sold for an exorbitant price on the black market.
Earlier, while the captain was going through the deputy captain’s luggage, Moira had counted a dozen or so pairs of Elf Wings inside.
Besides the Elf Wings, there were many other things as well.
Moira decided that when the people from the Federal Government arrived, she would hand over the deputy captain along with all those items.
Kai York took a metal cube out of his Space Button.
He tossed it into the air, and in the blink of an eye, the small cube transformed into a table.
Caden York looked at his younger brother. He didn’t say anything, but his eyes seemed to ask, ’How do you have something like that?’
"I got it from a blind box. It’s small, so I just carry it around."
Moira, Shane Rhodes, and Hugh Finch, who knew the truth, all gave him a silent look but ultimately didn’t expose his lie.
Kai had been obsessed with opening blind boxes before; he had opened almost every single blind box in Moira’s shop, which included a furniture series.
The table before them was just one of the items.
In fact, Kai had already collected all the table colors from that series and had even gotten the secret rare version.
Now that they had a table, they naturally needed chairs. Otherwise, were they supposed to eat standing up?
The next second, six chairs appeared before them.
After they sat down, they prepared to eat and think about their next move.
"Hugh Finch, you said before that there was danger in the sea. When exactly?" Joy asked.
Hugh swallowed the food in his mouth and said calmly, "I did another divination this morning. The danger has already disappeared."
