Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 327 - 317: The Saintly Statement
About five minutes later, the transformation was finally complete.
Once the commotion outside had completely died down, Shane Rhodes asked, "Moira, what was that all about?"
Moira Lynch turned her head with a playful grin. "Oh, nothing. Just made a small modification to the house."
"You call this a *small* modification?"
Kai York walked over to the window and looked out, realizing they were now at least a dozen meters off the ground.
Looking up, all he could see was a canopy of vibrant green leaves. The environment around the house had changed, too.
Back when Moira Lynch had chosen this particular Elf Tree House, she’d done so not only because it was spacious enough, but also for another important reason: it came with its own yard.
Moira now explained the situation with the Elf Tree House to Shane and the others. "The Elf Tree Houses are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Don’t you guys want to buy one for your families? After all, who knows how long this hellish weather will last."
Even if they survived this disaster, who knew what the next one would be.
At Moira’s suggestion, Shane Rhodes and the other two immediately sprang into action.
A few hundred Elf Tree Houses might have seemed like a lot, but one mustn’t forget that Moira’s shop was open to the entire world.
Aside from courteously notifying Redlight before the sale began, Moira didn’t bother with anything else.
That being said, not everyone could afford an Elf Tree House.
Because Moira pulled some strings for them, Shane Rhodes, Kai York, and Hugh Finch easily bought the Elf Tree Houses they wanted.
After saying a quick goodbye to Moira, they hurried out the door.
"Master, everyone else has a family, but you don’t. Don’t you feel lonely?"
Patience’s voice suddenly chimed in.
"Not at all. I’m used to it. Besides, who says I’m alone? Don’t I have you?"
’And Moon Wheel, the Calming Bell, and Black Wolf... how could I possibly be alone?’
Moira Lynch stretched languidly and began to inspect the treehouse’s layout.
Besides their bedrooms, there was a kitchen, a gym, a living room, a toilet, and a bathroom—it had everything one could ask for.
The other facilities and furniture inside the treehouse were all fully provided, and it even had hot water.
The Elf Tree House had its own water-condensation function, allowing it to draw moisture directly from the air or from underground.
This water was filtered until it was exceptionally clean, and it even tasted a little sweet.
The firewood that had originally been stored in the rooms was now all moved into the yard.
There was a supply above ground, as well as below.
Beneath this Elf Tree House lay a massive underground space specifically designed for food storage.
Aside from all that, the part of the entire treehouse that satisfied Moira Lynch the most had to be the yard outside.
The treehouse could completely block out the cold from outside, keeping the interior like spring all year round.
As the temperature inside steadily rose, the snow on the ground began to melt slowly. Moira looked at her hair, which was gradually turning back to black, and stretched languidly.
She summoned a robot and had it clear the snow from the yard and then till the soil.
She found the seeds left over from her last vegetable planting. After a moment of thought, Moira decided to plant something different.
’Thinking of those plump strawberries in her dimensional space, she realized it was no fun to always eat them secretly by herself.’
She took out some strawberry seeds from her space, then found some other fruit seeds as well.
With the robot around, all Moira had to do was give the orders.
The robot was highly efficient. Before Shane Rhodes and the others had even returned, it had already finished everything.
The Elf Tree Houses in Moira’s shop quickly sold out.
Through her window, Moira could see quite a few new Elf Tree Houses sprouting up within the base. Most of them were concentrated in Sector A.
After all, the Elf Tree Houses weren’t cheap; not just anyone could afford to live in one.
Among all the Elf Tree Houses, the most conspicuous one was the largest one in the center.
According to Patience’s analysis, this particular Elf Tree was a kind of atavistic throwback. It was enormous, and its interior space was vast as well.
But it was precisely because it was too big that Moira had decided against it for herself.
Lying on a comfy sofa, Moira Lynch closed her eyes and let her consciousness enter her dimensional space.
The first batch of Elf Tree Houses was sold out, so it was about time to plant the second batch. This time, she decided to plant a few more.
Moira sent the remaining Elf Trees to Veridian Prime for the Flower Sprites.
It was only after Patience explained it to her that Moira learned that for sprites, an Elf Tree was more than just a place to live.
The presence of an Elf Tree could significantly boost the sprites’ recovery abilities, keeping them happy, healthy, and less prone to illness.
After she was done with all that, Shane Rhodes and the others still hadn’t returned. Moira paid them no mind and went into the kitchen to make herself a meal. ’Malatang it is for today,’ she thought.
With that thought, it wasn’t long before a bowl of malatang was served on the table.
The steaming hot malatang gave off a tempting aroma, and Moira couldn’t wait to take a bite.
She opened up the game’s forum while she ate.
As soon as she entered, she found the forum was exceptionally lively.
Many people were showing off their new homes.
[Aiyo-wei: Fam, the Elf Tree Houses really live up to the hype! It’s minus fifty or sixty degrees outside, but it’s still over twenty degrees inside the house.]
[BadBreeze: I can confirm, what the user above said is all true. I’ve already taken off my thick clothes and changed into a t-shirt and shorts. Lying on the sofa right now, all I need is some ice cream to make it perfect.]
[LuckyFatty: And there’s hot water! Lord knows how long it’s been since I had a proper shower. I’m definitely going to wash to my heart’s content this time.]
[LovesFujitora: Since you’re all living in Elf Tree Houses now, you probably don’t need your thick clothes anymore, right? Why not give them to people who need them more?]
As soon as this comment was posted, countless replies appeared below, either agreeing or saying they were about to freeze to death.
[Melody: I think the people who managed to get an Elf Tree House should give away all the thick clothes and temperature-regulating clothes they can’t wear anymore. We all live on the same planet, we should help each other.]
[JustVersing: Oh no, it’s a bleeding heart. Everyone, back away, back away!]
[PrinceAlkaid: On what grounds? We bought those things with our own hard-earned money. Why should we just give them to you?]
Moira, who was lurking on the forums, couldn’t help but shake her head as she watched these people start to argue.
However, she agreed with PrinceAlkaid’s comment.
They had worked hard and spent their own money to buy those things. Why should they have to give them to others for free?
Especially in times like these, you always had to leave yourself a backup plan.
Besides, did having an Elf Tree House mean all their worries were over? It’s not like they would never go outside again.
