Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 312 - 302: Too Much of a Good Thing

  • Next Chapter

As expected, everything in Moira Lynch’s shop was quickly snapped up.

Countless people even contacted Moira Lynch through private messages, begging her to list more blind boxes—especially the spaceship ones.

Moira Lynch had only listed five spaceship blind boxes this time.

The nations that managed to snag the blind boxes discovered that after opening them, they received not only a spaceship component but also a blueprint.

Although the blueprint was crudely drawn, it was more than enough to make their scientists work on it day and night, forgetting to eat or sleep.

Early in the morning, after getting out of bed, Moira Lynch first went to the window.

The snow outside hadn’t stopped since yesterday.

What started as a light flurry had now turned into a heavy blizzard, blanketing the ground in a thick layer of snow. The insects had vanished without a trace.

The entire world seemed to have been put on mute; it was eerily quiet.

When she went downstairs, she found no one around. She guessed they must have taken the energy core to the base.

A cold breakfast was sitting on the table.

Moira Lynch picked up the breakfast from the table and began to eat.

The temperature outside was dropping rapidly, but thanks to the good insulation, the inside of the house remained above freezing. As a result, Moira Lynch’s body hadn’t undergone any major changes yet.

Her skin had just become a few shades paler, and the color of her hair had lightened considerably.

Moira Lynch looked at her colorless lips, then rummaged through her dimensional storage for a natural-toned lipstick and applied it.

After applying it, she looked at herself in the mirror and finally felt much better. ’Otherwise,’ she thought, ’with a colorless face, colorless lips, and deathly pale skin, what’s the difference between me and a three-day-old corpse?’

’Maybe I should start putting on some ’no-makeup’ makeup,’ Moira thought.

’That way, when the weather gets truly cold, I won’t end up frightening people.’

She opened her game’s private messages and found Redlight’s chat pinned at the top.

She opened the chat. Unsurprisingly, he had been pestering her nonstop for quite some time.

[Redlight: Mr. Lynch, Mr. Lynch! We’ll take however many spaceship blind boxes you have left. The price is negotiable.]

Moira Lynch knew exactly what he was up to. She didn’t beat around the bush and replied bluntly:

[SoySauceDrunkard: Even if you buy all the spaceship blind boxes, I can’t guarantee you’ll be able to assemble a complete spaceship. They’re blind boxes, after all.]

Everyone who knew anything about blind boxes understood the gimmick.

The person on the other end went silent for a moment.

About two minutes later, Redlight sent another message.

[Redlight: Mr. Lynch, seeing as we’re so well-acquainted, could you possibly...]

[SoySauceDrunkard: No!]

[Redlight: I haven’t even told you what I was going to ask, and you’re already saying no.]

[SoySauceDrunkard: No discounts.]

[Redlight: It’s not about a discount.]

[SoySauceDrunkard: And I’m not throwing in any freebies.]

[Redlight: That’s not it either.]

[SoySauceDrunkard: And I definitely won’t open all the spaceship blind boxes just to assemble a complete one for you.]

The moment the message was sent, the other end fell silent again. Clearly, Moira Lynch had guessed right once more; that was exactly what Redlight had been planning.

On his end, Redlight stared at the chat window and sighed.

He had expected this outcome, but the rejection still left him deeply disappointed.

’It was a spaceship, after all.’

They had already purchased a good number of Combat Mechas and Combat Spaceships from SoySauceDrunkard, but it was far from enough.

Besides, anyone with a discerning eye could tell at a glance that the spaceship components from the blind boxes were far more advanced than the ones they had purchased before.

Experts in the field needed only a single glance to determine that the spaceship components from the blind boxes were more advanced than their previously purchased Combat Spaceships.

To use an analogy:

If what they had bought before were motorcycles, then the contents of the spaceship blind boxes were semi-trucks. The two weren’t even in the same league.

After taking a moment to compose himself, Redlight sent another message.

[Redlight: If the blind boxes are a no-go, what about other things? How many robots do you have?]

As for how many robots Moira Lynch currently had on hand, to be honest, she wasn’t sure herself.

She had collected a huge batch from the blind box factory initially, and later acquired another group of specialized cleaning robots from other factories.

This time, however, she didn’t plan on selling all of them to Cathaya.

After their last few transactions, Moira Lynch noticed that Cathaya’s purchasing power had dropped significantly.

It was likely because Cathaya was now concentrating most of its efforts on Veridian Prime.

All discharged soldiers had been recalled to active duty.

Most of them had been dispatched to develop Veridian Prime or other planets.

Besides Cathaya, other nations were also gradually beginning to develop the mineral veins they had won at auction.

Besides, as the saying goes, too much of a good thing can be bad.

Moira Lynch had already given Cathaya an overwhelming number of advantages.

From Moira Lynch’s perspective, it was only natural to help her own country, and no one else had the right to interfere.

But just because she thought that way didn’t mean everyone else did.

Lately, she had been using her Golden Celestial Eye to keep a close watch on the movements of other nations.

Compared to Cathaya, calling the other nations a ’hell on earth’ would be no exaggeration.

In other countries, the gap between the rich and the poor was enormous.

The rich lived lives no different from before the apocalypse, but the poor were suffering terribly.

Not every country was as responsible for its people as Cathaya.

’I’m getting sidetracked.’

Through her observations with the Golden Celestial Eye, she had discovered that several countries had already secretly formed an alliance to move against Cathaya.

It was true what they say: fear fades over time.

These people had already forgotten the fate of The Crimson Dominion.

Although Moira didn’t think these people could accomplish much, a saying came to mind: ’A thief can try for a thousand days, but a guard can’t watch for a thousand days.’ You couldn’t be on defense forever.

Therefore, Moira decided to ’leak’ some good things out. Of course, whether those nations could actually get their hands on them was another story entirely.

With that in mind, Moira promptly composed a new sales announcement. She would be selling the robots she had brought back, including the cleaning models, in batches of one hundred. The sale would start at twelve noon sharp, first come, first served, until stock ran out.

After all, she had promised that one robot that she would help its brothers and sisters find proper homes.

The moment the news was released, it caused a massive uproar.

The incredibly detailed description of the robots, in particular, left everyone who read it extremely tempted.

Meanwhile, Chase Shepard had just finished negotiating prices with Shane Rhodes and his team. The moment he turned around, he saw the news and furiously stormed off to confront Redlight.

"What the hell happened? Did you piss off SoySauceDrunkard?"

Chase Shepard grabbed Redlight by the ear, looking for all the world like a disappointed father scolding his underachieving son.
