Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 310 - 300: Blind Box Collision (Finale)

When the other Recyclers returned one by one after their meal, they saw the several new mountains of energy cores that had appeared. A flash of utter despair crossed their eyes.

Someone even complained outright, "How long is this going to take to clean up?"

"I heard the battle this time was especially fierce. The Marshal even went to the front lines to supervise in person."

...

Moira Lynch listened to their discussion for a moment but didn’t understand any of it, so she pulled her focus back.

’Some Marshal, some war... none of that is my concern right now.’

However, not understanding didn’t stop Moira Lynch from taking note of the matter. After all, she now possessed a formal interstellar resident ID.

It was only normal to show some concern for the interstellar situation.

Whether she could actually make sense of it was another matter entirely.

’But it’s fine if I don’t understand. I might not get it, but that doesn’t mean others won’t.’

Suddenly, an idea struck Moira Lynch. She said to Patience, "Patience, I need you to compile all the information on the current interstellar situation and the relationships between the various races, then print it out. The more detailed, the better."

Patience asked, confused, "What are you compiling this for?"

"To sell, of course. Print a few extra copies," Moira Lynch instructed.

’I’ll definitely be able to sell them for a good price when I get back.’

Just as Moira Lynch was thinking about how to price this information, her eyes suddenly caught sight of a round object.

At first, she thought it was just an ordinary energy core, but when she saw that it had no cracks on it whatsoever, Moira Lynch instantly perked up.

’Could this be... a perfect energy core?’

Moira Lynch’s heart pounded.

But upon closer inspection, Moira Lynch discovered that this energy core seemed a little different from the others.

First, in terms of size, this energy core was larger than the others. Second was its color.

The energy cores were blue—at least, the ones that ended up here were—but this one was pinkish-blue, with faint hints of pink within the blue.

Finally, inside her space, Snowy was already going wild with anxiety. Even the Spiritual Body lion, which was always sleeping in the space, had made a rare appearance and woken up.

It paced back and forth near Snowy, looking extremely anxious.

Moira Lynch couldn’t tell what the lion wanted, but she knew what Snowy wanted.

It wanted to eat the energy core in Moira Lynch’s hand.

She had put so many energy cores into her space before, and Snowy had shown no interest at all. For it to suddenly become interested now made Moira Lynch wonder if the thing in her hand was truly an energy core.

Attempting to scan it with her spiritual power, Moira Lynch discovered to her horror that the thing was alive and was devouring her spiritual power.

Seeing this, how could Moira Lynch not understand? This wasn’t an energy core at all.

She didn’t know what it was exactly, but since Snowy wanted it, Moira Lynch simply tossed it to Snowy to deal with.

After catching the object Moira Lynch threw in, Snowy snatched it in its mouth, then turned and scurried away happily, with the lion following close behind.

Seeing this, Moira Lynch paid it no mind. If anything really happened to Snowy, she would be able to sense it immediately.

’Right now, it’s more important to keep collecting energy cores.’

With this recent experience, Moira Lynch began to search carefully, checking if any other unusual items had been mixed in.

However, after searching for a long time, she found nothing.

As time passed, second by second, Moira Lynch’s speed at collecting the items became more and more practiced.

A puzzled voice sounded from not far away. "Have you guys noticed? The pile of energy cores seems to be shrinking especially fast this time."

"I noticed that just now. I thought you guys were secretly working harder."

"And I thought it was you guys!"

...

Meanwhile, Moira Lynch kept her head down, a hero in the shadows.

Through her interactions with them, she discovered that these Recyclers were surprisingly slow on the uptake.

Her guess was that they spent most of their energy on breaking down the energy cores, which was why their reactions to their surroundings were always a beat slow.

After confirming her theory, Moira Lynch became even more brazen.

Of course, she didn’t dare get too carried away. After all, there was still a robot supervisor outside.

An unknown amount of time passed, and the sky gradually darkened.

At this point, the unease in Moira Lynch’s heart grew stronger and stronger, and her hands moved faster.

In addition to her personal space, Moira Lynch filled all of her empty Space Buttons with energy cores of three different shapes.

By the time the sky had turned completely dark, a familiar system notification sounded in her ears.

[Game time is up! For all who failed to complete the mission within the allotted time, your game eligibility will be revoked. In three seconds, everyone will be teleported out of the instance.]

[Three!]

[Two!]

[One!]

In the final second, Moira Lynch suddenly saw a nearly perfect energy core. It had only the tiniest crack, but it was still the most complete one she had seen.

So, in that last second, Moira Lynch reached out and hugged it to her chest. Immediately after, her vision went black.

When she opened her eyes again, she was back in her room. Outside, she could hear the sound of insects repeatedly hitting the window, though it seemed much fainter than before the game started.

Moira Lynch habitually extended her spiritual power.

When her spiritual power left the room and went outside, she felt a shiver run through her from the cold it encountered.

The sensation instantly cleared Moira Lynch’s head considerably.

She deftly rolled out of bed and pulled open the curtains.

Outside, the insect swarm was still raging. In the sky, white snowflakes were slowly drifting down.

"It’s snowing."

’Looks like Hugh Finch’s divination was as accurate as ever this time.’

In her hands, Moira Lynch was still holding the energy core she had brought out of the game, along with three silver coins.

Yes, only three.

If she factored in the silver coins spent on hiring the robot, not only had she not earned anything from this game, she had actually lost quite a bit.

Naturally, Moira Lynch wasn’t concerned about such a small amount of money. After all, she could earn it back in minutes.

First, she listed some of the things she brought back from the game: all sorts of blind boxes, clothes, canned goods, and so on. Finally, there was the main event: the energy cores.

After marking the prices, she listed those as well.

Then there were the robots.

Moira Lynch listed only three, as a way to test the market first.

After taking care of all this, Moira Lynch suddenly heard a shocked voice from downstairs.

Driven by curiosity, Moira Lynch opened her door and walked out.

When she reached the first floor, she saw Kai York and a few others gathered around a robot, circling it.

Seeing the robot, Moira Lynch finally recalled hearing someone mention this before.

Seeing Moira Lynch come down, Kai York waved her over. "Moira, quick, come see what the boss won! We won’t have to do chores anymore."
