Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 283 - 273: Number 1 Emergency
Meanwhile, Moira Lynch slept for a full thirty-six hours before finally waking up.
Her stomach growling in protest, Moira Lynch got up, planning to head to the bathroom to wash up.
As soon as she sat up, she felt her hand brush against something.
She looked down and saw her payment for the game: a total of thirteen silver coins, her earnings for the past three days.
On top of that, there was also her income as a Recycler.
Moira Lynch took out three emerald-green leaves.
These were the Elf Tree Leaves that Eleanor Vaughn had promised her, possessing the ability to allow someone to reawaken their talent.
’Come to think of it, I’ve collected quite a few Elf Tree seeds. Do the Elf Leaves that grow from them have a similar effect?’
The answer was no.
The leaves in Moira Lynch’s hand were from the Elf Mother Tree. Only leaves that fell naturally from the Elf Mother Tree—and this was the crucial part, they had to fall *naturally*—and were a flawless, vibrant green had such an effect.
She placed one of the leaves inside the Pharmacy Box.
Soon, two new buttons appeared on the box.
One was named Elf Potion. Consuming it granted the user one of an elf’s abilities. It could be their appearance or their combat power. It was considered a type of Genetic Medicine, but the specific changes were random.
The second was named Reboot Potion. Consuming it would cause the user to reawaken their talent. The new talent would also be random, and once taken, the effects were irreversible. A person could use a Reboot Potion up to five times in their lifetime.
The Elf Tree Leaves could only be used for this purpose three times, but crafting them into a Medicine increased the limit to five.
’The Pharmacy Box really is something else. So powerful.’
After carefully stowing the other two Elf Tree Leaves, Moira Lynch looked over her other rewards.
There was a Magic Wand, specifically crafted for those with a spiritual power talent. It could change size at will and even become soft enough to be worn like a belt.
Moira Lynch was very satisfied with this reward. She stored it in a hidden compartment of her Universal Gloves for easy access.
After washing up, Moira Lynch went down to the first floor, clutching a stomach that was aching with hunger.
"No one here?" Seeing the empty first floor, Moira Lynch walked straight into the kitchen.
She took a self-heating hot pot kit from the cupboard. ’First things first, I need to fill my stomach. Everything else can wait.’
While waiting for the hot pot to cook, Moira Lynch checked to see what had happened while she was out.
Upon learning that Patience had also listed the Combat Mechas and Combat Spaceships for sale, Moira Lynch hurriedly opened her private messages.
As expected, her inbox had exploded. There was a long list of red, unread messages.
In truth, her private messages had been constantly flooded ever since the game started, but never with this much intensity.
Moira Lynch went through the messages one by one. They were all inquiries about the Combat Mechas and Combat Spaceships, as well as the Intelligent Brain, Elf Wood Furniture, Healing Pods, and Hibernation Pods.
She opened the chat window with Redlight.
Redlight: Mr. Lynch, the Combat Mechas, Combat Spaceships, Intelligent Brain, Elf Wood Furniture, Healing Pods, and Hibernation Pods... however many you have, I’ll take them all. Price is not an issue.
’Hmph, so greedy. He wants everything.’
"You didn’t list the production lines?" Moira Lynch asked.
Patience: No. You said you wanted to keep three sets, but I didn’t know which three, so I didn’t touch them.
Moira Lynch: ...
’Whatever. This actually works out for the best.’
Just as Moira Lynch was thinking this, another message popped up from Redlight.
Redlight: Mr. Lynch, the players at the base have made some good stuff recently. I’m sending some over to you.
Before Moira Lynch could even react, she heard a system notification.
DING! [Player Redlight has used a targeted Teleportation item to gift one set of clothing to Player SoySauceDrunkard. This special outfit, created via a player’s talent, will ensure you look fabulous no matter how many layers you wear underneath!]
But that wasn’t all. A continuous stream of system notifications followed, all announcing gifts from Redlight.
He sent everything from food and clothing to all the basic necessities of life.
’Is he trying to bribe me, or is he *trying* to bribe me?’
’Except this outfit is obviously for men. There’s no way I can wear it; it’s way too big.’
Moira Lynch was surprised to learn that someone actually had a talent specifically for making condiments.
SoySauceDrunkard: Stop. Don’t send any more.
SoySauceDrunkard: As for what you wanted, everything except the Healing Pods and Hibernation Pods is on the table.
Moira Lynch had originally planned to open another shop with the Healing Pods and Hibernation Pods, but the game system wouldn’t allow it.
A person could only own one shop, so she had no choice but to place the Healing Pods and Hibernation Pods on the fifth floor.
In the base.
When Redlight saw SoySauceDrunkard’s message, he leaped from his chair in excitement.
The huge commotion quickly attracted the attention of the other staff members.
Seeing this, Chase Shepard immediately rushed over and asked excitedly, "What is it? Did SoySauceDrunkard reply? What did he say?"
Redlight repeated Moira Lynch’s message.
"He said he’s willing to trade everything except the Healing Pods and Hibernation Pods."
Recalling the changes on the fifth floor of the "Don’t Miss It" shop, Chase Shepard immediately understood what he meant.
"Ask him if he can sell us one of each for research," Chase Shepard said.
After all, the Academy of Sciences was waiting.
They had been a step too slow with the last batch of Combat Mechas and Combat Spaceships, and other countries had snatched them up. The academicians, who lived and breathed their research, had nearly chewed him out completely.
Who would have thought these researchers, who seemed so amiable and reserved, could be so merciless with their words? They could curse someone out without using a single swear word. Truly befitting of scholars.
Redlight hesitated. "I’ll give it a try."
Redlight: Mr. Lynch, could you sell us one Healing Pod and one Hibernation Pod?
He followed the message with a teary-eyed puppy emoji.
When Moira Lynch saw it, she thought for a moment and agreed.
It’s not like she was completely unreasonable.
Besides, she had a good idea why Redlight wanted a Healing Pod and a Hibernation Pod.
’It’s fine to let their scientists study them. If my own Healing Pod or Hibernation Pod ever breaks, I can just send it to them for repairs.’
SoySauceDrunkard: Fine. Also, I have a few production lines here. Are you interested?
’Production lines?’
Redlight’s first instinct told him these weren’t ordinary production lines.
He typed back a question:
Redlight: What kind of production lines?
At the same time, he ordered a staff member beside him, "Make a call. Tell them it’s a Code One emergency. Double the resources."
