Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 227: The Next Game Round, Desert, Tree Planting

Moira Lynch, who had just come down from the second floor, heard Kai York and shot him a glare. "You’re lucky to have one at all. Stop being so picky."

Seeing Moira, Shane Rhodes said, "We have Moira to thank for this. Otherwise, we would’ve missed out on such great weapons."

Moira Lynch gladly accepted his thanks.

"Oh, right, Moira," Kai York said suddenly. "You gave all the weapons to us, but what about yourself?"

Moira Lynch shrugged. "I don’t need them. I have Black Wolf, so I don’t have to worry about combat. Besides, you haven’t forgotten I have a second talent, have you? Compared to me, you guys need these more."

’Besides, these three weapons were made using my talent. If I need to, I can just use my talent directly.’

At her words, the three men fell silent. It seemed she was right.

Three grown men, outmatched by a single young woman. The crucial part was the ratio—three to one. A feeling called shame washed over them.

"I’m going to practice my combat skills." Hugh Finch was the first to stand, heading toward the dedicated training equipment.

"I’m off to train my speed." Shane Rhodes followed right behind him.

"I guess I’ll go work on my strength, then."

Watching them leave one by one, Moira Lynch tilted her head in confusion. ’What’s gotten into them? Why so motivated all of a sudden? Didn’t they just finish training?’

’The next round of the game is starting soon. I was hoping to get a head start on preparations.’

’Speaking of which, I have the system’s email address now... Could I send an email and ask for information about the next game?’

No sooner said than done.

Back in her room, she started writing a letter to the system—no, an email.

Dearest System... (fifteen hundred words of sucking up omitted here)

After laying on the praise, Moira finally revealed her true intentions at the very end, asking for specific details about the next round of the game.

Meanwhile, the game system had indeed received Moira Lynch’s email.

Everyone loves a good compliment, and the system was no exception.

So, as expected, the system was thoroughly buttered up by Moira Lynch’s flattery, putting it in an exceptionally good mood.

Adding to its delight was the fact that the Survival System had recently been punished by the Main System, making it even happier now.

So, upon seeing Moira Lynch’s tiny request at the end, the game system magnanimously granted her wish. It was just revealing a little information, after all—no big deal.

Back on Moira’s end, after waiting a short while, she soon received an email. The contents were very brief, just three words: Desert, Plant Trees.

Moira analyzed the meaning of the three words. ’Desert’ likely referred to the environment, while ’plant trees’ must be the task.

If that was the case, then people with Wood and Water Element Talents were practically the chosen ones for this mission.

With this reliable information, Moira immediately began to prepare.

Desert. The first things that came to mind were the harsh, arid, water-scarce conditions. Water would be absolutely essential.

With Water Storage Mushrooms, she didn’t have to worry about the water supply itself. However, the mushrooms’ ability to store water depended on the ambient moisture content.

In a desert, it went without saying that the moisture content in the air wouldn’t be very high.

Then there was food. Temperatures in the desert are high, so she needed to prepare more cooling foods to combat the heat and pack plenty of Ice Cool Grass.

The temperature would drop drastically at night, so she had to prepare appropriate clothing as well.

After preparing everything and placing it all inside a single Space Button, Moira took out several shovels. After soaking them in Wood God Potion, the shovels gained the ability to make plants quickly take root and sprout.

Perhaps because these shovels weren’t personally crafted by Moira, the blessing they received after being soaked in the Wood God Potion was only a tenth as potent as it could have been.

Still, in Moira’s eyes, this was perfect. It wouldn’t draw too much attention, yet it would be enough to complete the mission.

Once she had everything ready, Moira posted the information to her shop. Just like last time, for the price of a single Gold Bean, anyone could purchase information about the next game.

Moira also made sure to add a special note below: All sales final. No liability after the fact.

Not all players entered the same game, so it was crucial to make this clear beforehand.

A few seconds later, the shop showed that ten people had already purchased the information.

’That was fast!’

Before Moira could even be shocked, the number below was already climbing steadily.

Going downstairs, Moira told Shane Rhodes and the other two about the next game.

"If the info is from SoySauceDrunkard, then it’s got to be right," Shane Rhodes said.

With this definite information, the men immediately started getting busy.

Moira, of course, was already prepared; after all, her storage space lacked for nothing.

But Shane Rhodes and the other two had limited storage, so they had to think carefully about what to bring and what to leave behind.

"Kai York, how much space can your Space Blade create?" Hugh Finch asked.

Hearing this, Kai York thought for a moment and said, "About ten cubic meters, I’d say. But while it can store things, time flows the same inside as it does out here, so it can’t preserve anything."

"Ten cubic meters. That’s enough."

Shane Rhodes and Hugh Finch decided to store most of their belongings with Kai York and Moira.

After all, one of them had a Space Blade, and the other possessed numerous Space Buttons.

"You’re storing all your things with the two of us. Aren’t you worried we might not end up in the same game?" Moira asked.

Hugh Finch said, "You don’t have to worry about that. I just cast a divination. There’s an eighty-seven percent probability that we’ll be together in the next game."

As the three men prepared their gear, Moira casually added the shovels to their things.

"Oh, right, should we stock up on some medicine?" Kai York said suddenly. "Planting trees is physical labor. Shouldn’t we buy some recovery potions in advance?"

"The Medicine in SoySauceDrunkard’s shop gets cleared out the moment it’s listed each day. It’s basically impossible to grab much. If you want to buy a large quantity, you’d have to contact him personally," Hugh Finch said.

However, countless people across Caelus wanted to contact SoySauceDrunkard, but those who had succeeded were few and far between.

As far as he knew, aside from a player at the base named Redlight, no one had ever managed to contact SoySauceDrunkard.

Even Redlight couldn’t contact SoySauceDrunkard whenever and wherever he pleased.

Kai York didn’t buy it. He opened his private messages. "How do you know it won’t work if you don’t even try? And even if it fails, there’s no harm in it."

And so, right in front of Moira, Kai York sent a message to SoySauceDrunkard. Unsurprisingly, he received no reply.
