Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 221: Signing the Contract
Reading this, Redlight couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath.
She was auctioning off the development rights to three planets and had given them one more on top of that.
That meant SoySauceDrunkard had at least four planets under her control.
[Redlight: May I ask where you got your planets?]
’It couldn’t be from a lottery, could it?’
But the system’s lottery had only ever appeared in the third round of the game.
The first-place winner of the previous round did have a chance at the lottery, but unfortunately, their entire team was wiped out by a sudden volcanic eruption. No one even knew who took the top spot.
[SoySauceDrunkard: You ask too many questions.]
[Redlight: Just one last question. How do you plan to deal with the survivors from The Crimson Dominion?]
[SoySauceDrunkard: They still have survivors?]
"Bad weeds really do grow tall," Moira groused.
[Redlight: Some players who awakened a Water Talent managed to survive. There were also some who weren’t in the country when it happened.]
What Redlight didn’t mention was that over the last few days, other nations had already issued expulsion orders to these people, demanding they leave their territories within a set time frame.
Moira had no interest in what happened to them. If they weren’t trying to cause her trouble, she couldn’t be bothered to give them a second thought.
[SoySauceDrunkard: Deal with them however you want.]
The matter of the planet’s development rights wasn’t something Moira could grant with just a word. A formal contract had to be signed first.
Moira didn’t know much about these matters, so she handed it all off to Patience. All she had to do was review and sign.
After closing the game interface, Moira took the remaining three silver certificates out of her inventory.
According to the available data, aside from Mochina, the other two planets had what could only be described as hostile environments—one was all swamp, the other all desert.
Moira thought for a moment, then decided to go take a look anyway.
Her first stop was Mochina.
In the middle of a forest, Moira skillfully set up the Planet Exploration Device.
About five minutes later, the Planet Exploration Device finished its work.
It seemed Mochina was even smaller than Cloudsea Planet.
But despite its small size, the amount of data it yielded was several times greater than that of Cloudsea Planet.
Moira skimmed through the report. There were tens of thousands of plant species alone, not to mention various ores. Water-cooling Stones and Water Wood Stones were the most basic finds; there were also ores buried deep underground.
Moira focused on the section detailing the ores.
’There’s even a Secret Silver Ore vein.’
She had stumbled upon this type of ore once while doing research.
Mithril was incredibly lightweight yet exceptionally hard. It could even reflect attacks, making it the undisputed best choice for crafting armor and weapons.
A quick look showed that this Mithril vein covered a considerable area. She wondered if the planet’s original owner had known about it.
’They probably didn’t.’
Moira circled the locations of the Mithril and all the other mineral veins.
After finishing all that, she visited the other two planets.
This time, however, Moira’s luck ran out.
First up was the Garbage Star, which was entirely covered in swamps.
The moment she stepped through the Teleportation Gate, her foot sank into a swamp of murky sludge.
Moira took out her Flying Device just in time to keep herself from sinking.
The lush trees growing all around her blotted out the sun completely. When a cold gust of wind blew past, Moira couldn’t help but shiver.
’This place isn’t haunted, is it?’
Moira took out the Planet Exploration Device.
An hour later, the scan was complete.
Even though it took an hour, the resulting data file was only slightly larger than the one for Cloudsea Planet.
Moira guessed the long scan time was probably due to the planet’s large surface area.
She flipped to the first page of the report.
Moira glanced at the trees around her.
’So these trees are called Light Absorption Magic Trees.’
They could absorb any light in their vicinity, and as long as light was present, they could grow indefinitely.
’No wonder it’s completely dark around here.’
At the same time, these Light Absorption Magic Trees were also a highly aggressive invasive species. Wherever they took root, they would choke out the living space for local plants and even animals, driving them to extinction.
Furthermore, the vast swamps underfoot were also the fault of these Light Absorption Magic Trees.
In other words, anyone who wanted to develop this planet would first have to solve the Light Absorption Magic Tree problem.
’That wasn’t her problem. She’d leave it for someone else to figure out.’
Back in her room, Moira changed out of her filthy clothes.
Since the last planet was all desert and gobi, she wrapped herself up from head to toe before heading out.
She switched her eyes to goggle mode and then departed.
It turned out to be the right call.
The moment she stepped out of the Teleportation Gate, a head-on gust of wind nearly knocked her over.
Moira could even hear the sound of sand pelting her.
As far as the eye could see, yellow sand filled the sky. There wasn’t a single green plant in sight, and the overhead sun was so blindingly bright she could barely open her eyes.
’Maybe I should bring a few of those Light Absorption Magic Trees over here.’
She set up the Planet Detector, and half an hour later, all of the planet’s data appeared before her.
’Better than Cloudsea Planet.’
Cloudsea Planet really seemed to be the most barren of the three Garbage Stars.
Aside from the ones she had brought herself, it had virtually no plant life.
Holding the data, she put away the Planet Exploration Device and left without a second glance.
’I can read the data later. I can’t stand this environment for another second.’
In just half an hour, she had nearly been buried by the sand.
By the time she returned to her room, the sky outside was already bright.
The Moon Wheel and Calming Bell punctually drained three-quarters of her spiritual power. Moira stretched, popped into her personal space for a shower, and then flopped onto her bed and fell fast asleep.
’Nothing is more important than sleep right now. Everything else can wait until I wake up.’
Moira slept soundly until she finally woke up in the afternoon.
[The contract regarding the development rights for Veridian Prime has been drafted.]
Moira opened the contract and began reading it in bed.
After confirming there were no issues, she printed it, signed it, and sent it to Redlight via her shop.
Five minutes later, a countersigned contract was sent back the same way.
Moira put the contract away, then opened her shop and posted the data she had collected on the three planets.
SoySauceDrunkard’s shop, "Don’t Miss It," had always attracted a great deal of attention. Various nations and factions had people watching it twenty-four hours a day.
So, the moment the information about the three planets was posted, it was immediately discovered.
