Chapter 472 - Days MCMLX - MCMLXXXVI, Part IV
On the fifth day, after waking up, I did some thinking, analyzing my abilities, and decided I should get a new elementalist type class, or maybe even two. Just to check what they have to offer in search of gaining more useful abilities.
I bought both ‘Air elementalist’ and ‘Earth elementalist’. They had the standard skillset of this type of class. I upgraded it fully unlocking ‘Initiate of air’ and ‘Initiate of earth’.
Except for the usual stuff bot classes each got one special skill. ‘Suffocate’ for earth magic, and ‘Fertilize’ for earth.
‘Suffocate’ was allowing me to keep any creatures from breathing, by not allowing the components of air in their lungs to get separated, which prevented the red cells in the blood to carry the oxygen to the other cells in their body.
It wasn’t really that useful, since I had plenty of more destructive stuff in my arsenal.
[0)ᴠʟ ‘Fertilize’ on the other hand was a very interesting one, as it allowed me to bring the minerals from the deeper parts of the ground to the surface, making the soil reacher.
If Zhang Yong knew about this, his grand plan could be a success. I started thinking more and more about this, which led me to the idea of finishing what he started but couldn’t bring to an end. I was gonna build greenhouses and grow food. Maybe not now, but definitely in the future.
I upgraded both second tiers fully and went hunting.
The period of the next five days was unfruitful. The ruckus from my previous fights didn’t lure any more ghosts. I tried to search for some of them outside the city walls but didn’t get any luck either.
I was making so much noise, that I even started thinking that maybe there are no enemies left around in that world, which led me to switch places.
I returned to the place with the golden towers and terraces.
I came out in a large plaza on a nice, sunny day. So different from the darkness in the pyramid world. I had easily a few hundreds of empty spaces in each direction.
The ground was covered with large square plates in the color of desert sand.
Looking around I spotted a large dome, probably made out of glass, now broken, with four fang-like towers around it, enclosing it. There was a garden inside because I spotted three crowns. The whole thing was build was elevated, and a grand, although only a few dozen steps high staircases were leading to it. It reminded me in some way of a football stadium.
Whoever was living in this place, for sure had to like nature. All the terraces filled with plants, and now this.
There wasn’t some repeating love of nature and plants in the books written by Bahumdabars, so the chances of them not being behind it was high. Except for Xuvi and Uhms I didn’t know much more about other races living in the collapsed imperium, but I was definitely curious.
There was so much to discover in those strange lands, that probably a single lifetime, would allow one to barely scratch the surface of it. Fortunately, I was no longer aging, so I had plenty of time. At least until everything would get swallowed by the countless army of mindless aliens, who were constantly preparing for war, and expanding somewhere in the multiverse.
But that problem was for the future Peter, and future mankind to solve. I had a hunt to finish.
Pushed by my curiosity I approached the greenhouse, and to my surprise, a ghost came out of it. His torso was naked. A thin, dried skin stretched around the bones. Legs covered by a long leather skirt. Black, with some minimal golden ornaments in for of strange, vine-like shapes on the edges.
He had a giant claymore in one of his hands. Blade resting on the shoulder.
He leaped immediately in the air, upon seeing me, and landed with incredible impact striking from above. I shadow walked the hell out of the area, and thanks to that I evaded a devastating blow, that shattered the plaza, and plates covering it. Sending bits and pieces into the air and creating a crater, like after an explosion.
I immediately activated all my necessary skills fusing my body with the shadows and altering it. The void essence filled my veins, as it started slipping into this world through the ground. Winds stirred it immediately, just when the wall of raging darkness appeared on the horizon, tempering the sunlight. I strengthened my body with Ki preparing for an exchange of deadly blows.
I got a bit stronger because of the recent upgrades, and really wanted to test it. I wasn’t stupid, though. Just this little show of force made me realize that this one isn’t a joke, and I will need much more than just a few swings of my pudao to finish him, so, just in case, I summoned an entire army of Shadow fiends, and then charged.
I rushed at fighter jet speed, circling around him, but he matched me, and our blades clashed creating a shockwave that blasted bot our bodies. He stopped himself in the air, using psychic powers. I on the other hand lost the kinetic power through a quick shadow walk.
This led to another mindless attack, and another blast that threw us around like ragdolls. We repeated it over and over, increasing the tempo and easily passing through the barrier of sound each time like two morons drunk with their power.
The blasts popped my eardrums so I stopped hearing the sound that came along with this exchange but I could feel the air vibrating like mad.
The ghost switched his tactic and tried to slow my movement using his psychic powers, so I did the same to him. Unfortunately for me, his skills were stronger, so I had to storm him with my army to equal the advantages.
I was slower and weaker, but he had more on his plate to deal with.
