Another Stupid Isekai

Chapter 358 - Day MCDI, Part III

All four undead turned to dust, leaving only clothes on the sand. Mbeki fell to his knees and puked on the ground.

Urho, in his beast form, screamed on top of his lungs and stumbling backward started to transform into a human.

Others were similar, unable to stand just collapsed. Few simply started laughing. It was a strange laugh, full of joy.

I looked again at Nadzieja, on top of the building, but she was gone. I needed answers and those people around me could help with that. I rushed towards Kagiso and immediately used ‘Cleansing’ on him, and he got better. He looked at me, as I helped him get back on his feet.

– What the hell happened? – I asked without beating around the bush.

– I… I’m not s-sure. I n-need a… a moment.

He was panting heavily like she just ended a long and exhausting run. I nodded, giving him what he needed, and started helping others. I cleansed a few and picked up one of the clothes lying on the sand. The memento of the undead. I gave it to Urho, as he was shivering on the ground completely naked, then I also used my skills on him.

– Fuck – escaped my mouth, as finally, I looked around at the mess.

– Everything is ok?! – somebody yelled from the dark.

It was a familiar voice, but my brain wasn’t working properly, so I didn’t recognize it. There was a way to fix it. I just let out the firebirds and made a whole horde of them fly around the complex, illuminating everything.

[0)ᴠʟ It was Hatta, surrounded by a few of his men, and Brutus. There were more people incoming.

– No, it’s not – I replied, and just allowed myself to land on my ass.

For some reason, I got so tired, that I just wanted to go to bed.

Hatta got down, and quickly glanced over, then proceeded with cleaning up the mess. People were transported to the hospital, even Maia’s body was taken care of. He even helped me to get there. I didn’t need medical help at all, I needed time to digest what happened.

Then, later at night, me, him, Will, and Amit found ourselves in a room with Mbeki. He was lying down in a hospital bed, under Marcella’s care, but she left to allow us to talk.

There was not much there, just a single window, now open, a few chairs we brought with ourselves, the bed, and a bedside cabinet, obviously empty.

– So… What happened? – Amit started.

He was not sitting but leaning on the opposite wall with arms crossed on his chest.

– I’m not sure. I think… She got inside my head. I remember just talking with her… I don’t even know when it was, but from that point, all I have are broken memories.

– She minds controlled you – said Will. – That time when she tried to kill the harpy queen, and apparently failed, well she had to succeed.

– You think Blue lied to us? – asked Hatta.

– I don’t fucking know, but what I know is, he wanted her dead after.

– He wasn’t lying – Amit stepped in. – I talked with his people. Nobody even checked the boss, what they found was her, bleeding to death, and they saved her. The next day, when they went there to check, the boss was there, just like the bodies, but they didn’t engage.

– You’ve been hunting there, Will. Have you seen the corpses? – I asked.

– I’ve seen the bones there, but that’s all.

We asked Mbeki a few more questions, but he gave us hardly any answers, which led us to talking with others. Kagiso was not the only one affected by the memory loss. We eventually learned why. Maia obtained the mind-controlling powers and had to invest in them a lot. With that, she collected few strong people who helped her collect more crystals.

That led to creating a network of controlled leaders, who had men following them out of their own accord, unaware of the situation.

This led to her acquiring both ‘Necromancer’ and ‘Hemomancer’ powers. She then used her own blood to invade the bodies of those whom she wasn’t controlling directly. There was only a couple of people like that since most of them died.

Those why survived were too scared to leave, and on top of that, she had her own blood in their veins after acquiring the skills. They could neither escape nor talk. That’s how her secret survived.

– Peter… It has been a long night. Go to sleep, I’ll take care of everything – said Hatta, as we finished talks, and were wrapping up in the hospital’s corridor.

– I’m not tired…

– Hatta is right. You need a break – Will agreed.

I knew they were only saying this because they found out about the undead Maia used on me.

– I won’t be able to sleep…

– It doesn’t matter – said Amit, and came closer, to put his hand on my shoulder. – Come on, I’ll walk you there.

I looked him in the eyes, and he nodded. I couldn’t argue with him.

That’s how I got back to my room, but just as I said, there was no way I could just fall asleep after what happened.

I felt a heavy burden on my chest, and couldn’t get rid of it. The memories of Nadia that kinda died down now were brought back. Every time I closed my eyes, I could see her again. Smiling at me, and telling me that everything was going to be alright.

But I knew it wasn’t. She was gone, and everything was never gonna be like it was. It made me sad. So sad that I felt like I was gonna start crying, but my eyes were dry. Maybe I was no longer capable of that, or maybe the reason was something else.

One thing I was sure of, was the cure. I needed to make myself busy. I needed to open that fucking portal back to earth…

This period of time came to an end with 1 368 878 449 points remaining on my account, and 39 class points.
