912 T.D.o.N.B: S27B, part II - Ki'rai
Ki’rai vanished, charging forward to catch up with Druoag. A borderline impossible goal, while I took off to the side, flying away, before launching myself beyond anybody else’s speed.
Behind her, the rest of the group was already also charging.
Their attack was prevented before it could possibly even properly begin. The ground split, creating this massive, seemingly bottomless chasm, while on both sides, the earth erupted with sharp, rocky spikes, separating our group even further.
Jumping and tumbling, the little alien avoided everything thrown her way, losing some speed in the process, but still far away from stopping.
In this ripped-apart battleground, separated into smaller sections, she found her path blocked by the sudden appearance of three alien forms.
All were rather bulky with weird skin. It had this unusual texture, making it look very much like the bark of a tree. It was mostly brown, at least where she could see it.
One was wearing a thick dark robe. Something between a kimona and a bathrobe. Next to him was one in heavy armor made out of metal with a dark, round shield and a nasty-looking sword. It was bit, broad, and had a saw edge, streaching all the way to the end of the handle, as it was fused with the armguard.
The third had also armor, but this one looked much lighter. Made clearly out of some polymer-like substance. Completely black. His weapons looked unusual too. Like two guns, partially made out of black, shiny metal, and partially out of blue crystal, fused together by the grip. He had one of those in each hand, both directed at the tiny lizard-like creature – Ki’rai.
She pulled out her narrow blades, then using a skill made seven copies of herself. They all scattered in different directions. Some went straight at the guards, others decided to flank them.
The warrior type stepped forward, preparing to block her, while the one armed with interesting-looking, crystal weapons, started to shoot at some of the copies. His guns could produce those beams of laser-like energy, which was potent enough to melt the rock, as she soon earned when the copies dodged a couple of attacks.
Then the last alien stepped in. He just waved his hand, like he was trying to wipe the world in front of his eyes from some dirt that got stuck there, and all the copies Ki’rai created vanished, leaving only her, charging ahead.
This made the range type start shooting at her. With a little bit of fancy footwork, she dodged everything, pissing him off even more. To the point, he decided to put both guns together, then shoot a much larger beam. A beam she already saw before, when it hit my protective bubble.
With a quick jump to the side, she avoided the attack, landing one of the stone spikes, then leaping forward to land, roll, and continue her run. It was a very short run, though. The earth shattered right in front of her, and the fragments started to fall into the massive pit right from under her feet.
She did a fancy trick, kicking the air, and somehow doing a backflip to escape a terrible end. It was the mage who decided to contribute even more. His next speed, paralyzed Ki’rai, making her fall to the ground, painfully tensed in a seemingly solid state. She shook it off, rolling to the side just when the warrior landed, trying to cut her in half with the scary sword.
It plowed the air, slamming into the ground, but missed her by an inch. Using her hands to lunch herself in the air, she landed once again on the spike, then escaped further, dodging the laser beam which melted the rock.
With the close presence of the warrior, the mage had to change his tactic. He couldn’t use any attacks of wide range, because that would mean risking his companion taking some damage in the process. He was quite clever about what he actually did. Instead of focusing on harmful magic, he decided to shape the battleground itself, siring a wall of earth, steeply shaped, so she wouldn’t be able to climb it. It stretched out a few meters tall, cutting Ki’rai iff her escape route.
The only way to get out was to run to the side, but a volley of laser beams cut her from the right. It was clear that they wouldn’t let her get away too much from the warrior, who was already charging, hiding his face behind the shield.
Ki’rai gritted her teeth, narrowing her eyes, and reading both short blades for the fight. Then she rushed at the warrior, dodging the sword which was supposed to take her head off her shoulder. It still left a nasty, deep scar on the wall of earth behind, but failed to reach her at all since she want to her knees, sliding further, to avoid it.
She jumped back to her feet, trying to reach the alien, but the access was cut off when the shield fell down in front of her, almost smashing her skull.
She vanished, then used another skill.
The wall of earth suddenly shattered when the massive Druoag appeared, wailing with fury. His voice made the ground tremble before he decided to charge at the warrior.
Both the gunslinger, who shot his beams at the new opponent, and the mage, who tried to lock him in place with the earth’s hands, emerged from underground, attempting to grab him, failed.
Then Ki’rai suddenly appeared in the back of the warrior, jamming both blades into his neck.
The illusion she created vanished, revealing the truth. A slightly melted wall was created by the mage, with the arms of soil grabbing nothing but the air.
A nasty grin appeared on her lips, followed by a short chuckle. It was cut short, when the warrior grabbed her and slammed her to the ground, grabbing the shield he let go of to slam her with and finish her off.
