865 T.D.o.N.B: Leonel VS Aaden
– I hope you are ready because in a moment we are starting our third match! – Bruce announced.
– It’s the last moment to grab a drink and a snack because when we start, you bet the action in the arena won’t let you even blink! – Matthew added.
As they spoke this, for the first time I felt a little bit nervous. Leonel’s fight was different than John’s and Tihana’s. I didn’t really care that much about the first. With the second, I was a bit frustrated, that she refused my help, while both of us knew the other side would do anything, they possibly could, to win.
My son, though, had the most serious approach to this. He felt responsible for the whole thing. From the ferry start, he wanted to do good, so when I offered a hand after it became clear that the other side is not playing fair, he accepted it.
Now he was standing there, in the sandpit, about to put his skills to the test. I didn’t want him to lose, which was making me feel this way.
Aaden started strong by leaping forward, with the spear above his head, ready to thrust with a lot of power put behind the attack, but there was something weird about his move since the distance was a bit too big for his level.
Leonel put the heavy shield in front of himself. The spear of his opponent partially finished, when he attacked,d but around a fourth of different ones spawned around, slamming all at once into the heavy barrier. The loud clang of metal was off though. It was a speed-based attack so fast, that it even put Satoshi Tanaka to shame.
Still useless, though, as it couldn’t pierce the shield I created with my own hands.
It only managed to push my son back a little, plus rise some dust off the ground. He didn’t just stay idle, taking cover behind the heavy barrier, but decided to make his, very cautious, the first move. He transformed.
The golden wings stretched behind him, protected from the spear, and the scales appeared on his skin. The eyes changed too. For a moment he was emitting this glorious aura of pure gold, but it vanished as soon as he morphed properly.
Aaden used this opportunity to rush to the side, slide on the side, and attack from a different angle with the same move. All Leonel did to answer, was to move the shield. The loud noise filled the arena once again.
I noticed at the distance a few girls so excited by the view, that they just fainted, and people around them had to grab them. It brought a smile to my face.
“You are going to have a fun life, kid”, I thought to myself.
The action brought me back because Aaden kept circling around Leonel, trying the same move, over and over. It was quite dumb, so my first thought was that there had to be something I was missing.
I soon discovered what.
A massive, tree size, spear fell from the sky, while my son was busy protecting himself from the attack. He noticed in the last moment, ducked down, bringing the shield alongside his body, and placing it at an angle to cover both angles.
The weapon smashed into the barrier, but couldn’t pierce it. The loud clang announced the hit, and then it fell down sliding on the metal, striking sparks as it went all the way off it, and hit the ground. It then collapsed on my son, who stepped away, letting it all slam onto the ground, rising a cloud of sand.
Aaden seized the moment,t trying to attack from a different angle while utilizing the cover, but his attack smashed once again into the shield.
– It looks very one-sided so far, but I have to complement the young Leonel. He is blocking it all – said Bruce.
His companion was about to add something to the commentary when my son puked fire at his opponent forcing him to retreat.
– Not so one-sided anymore – Matthew added.
The attack was obviously not powerful enough and too simple to do any damage, but it have Leonel a breather. He raised his shield once again, then started moving to the side.
At the same moment, John and Tihana entered the room. They didn’t say a thing, but I noticed that my daughter was avoiding looking me in the eyes. She marched straight to the couch to sit down.
After this brief interruption, I returned to the TV screen, observing the lack of action, because both gladiators decided to do a little stare-down while preparing to move their duel to the next stage.
After the initial sneaky attack failed Aaden had to change his tactic. Leonel survived the tricky attack, but his position wasn’t good. He couldn’t win by just letting his opponent do whatever he wanted, and focus solely on defense.
Not only would it be a boring duel, but also such an approach would make him lose inevitably.
Both clearly wanted the same, to let the other one make the first move, so they could answer it, and none of them was willing to just resign. It lasted a couple of seconds longer, but my son happened to be the first to break this approach. Although not in a way that Aaden would prefer.
His body started emitting this red aura, which at first looked like flames, but then slowly began taking shape, and eventually formed into a massive dragon that completely covered his body.
It was a well-known skill because John already displayed it quite well. A safe move, since everybody already knew that my son could do such a thing, but still an upgrade, as it gave him additional options and increased his strength.
Despite being nothing new, it got a reaction from the audience. People started cheering, expecting this to be an announcement of something more entertaining.
It also brought a smile to Aaden face.
