849 T.D.o.N.B: The demonic land
Will picked for us quite a dangerous spot. At first, I didn’t know, because he just sent Tihana some direction via a message, but when we arrived, carried by my ‘Telekinesis’ and ‘Fly’ skills, I immediately knew what we will have to fight against.
It was a broken land, like many others, but this one had pools of lava filling the crevasses present everywhere. There were also a lot of lonely stones poking out off the ground everywhere. Further, on the horizon was rather a short mountain. You could see its flat peak, with a structure on top. Well… You could if you had eyes as keen as mine. There was a pathway spiraling around it, leading to the top, but that wasn’t something you could notice from such a far away distance.
I simply knew it, because I already visited this place, back in Petrograd.
The boss definitely was out of range even if all five of them were going all out. They simply had no chance with that thing. The class it was unlocking was just as nasty as the thing itself the ‘Demontouched’. I could get it, but I never even considered buying it.
We landed just at the border of the hunting ground. My family immediately started rolling around, while preparing themselves to move forward.
Everybody had their combat attire on. My wife was wearing plate armor, with a winged helmet with a visor. It looked made out of silver, but in reality, it was a special alloy I created, then infused with tons of magic. Her chest piece was of similar color. Her legs were covered by kevlar leggings with a special skirt on top of that. It was made out of sheets of leather, with metal plates fixed to them as an outer layer.
The leather was painted red, while the metal piece was the same alloy as the rest.
The legs, up to the knees were protected by heavy metal boots. She also had a shield looking kinda like an arrowhead, and a sword.
The blade was thin, looking quite like a saber, as it was slightly curved, with only one sharp edge. The handguard was also out of the ordinary, as it had one part longer, curved down to cover the fingers.
Leonel’s attire was more simple, at least for the eyes. For me, as the one who was making it, it was quite a pain in the ass. It was a long leather coat, with a pattern of a massive dragon wrapping itself around my son, embossed in the material.
It was simple, brown, with a front part of a breastplate covering his chest, but nothing like that covering his back. Although there was something on his back. A shield, if you could even call that thing ‘a shield’. For me, it was just fucking lump of metal, the size of a door.
Obviously, It had a dragon pater on its front part, inlaid with gold. Enchanted by me.
By his side was a bastard sword, with a saw-like edge and a golden handle. To match his transformation.
Compared to that fancy stuff John looked like somebody who found himself among them by accident. He just had kevlar pants and a shirt on, with something which looked like a bulletproof vest on top, but actually, it was so much more. On each forearm, he had a sturdy bracer, and he was holding his now-not-so-fancy halberd.
Tihana also didn’t match well with the others, because her clothes looked too futuristic. It was like a single-piece costume, covering her from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. With only two holes for her eyes, protected by dark glass. It seemed to be made from liquid metal.
Just like her brother’s piece, it was a nightmare to make.
Carmelita looked like a battlemage with her red robe, and iron breastplate on top of it. It didn’t look that fancy but had some runes engraved here and there, in a more open way than the rest of the stuff I made.
She was holding a long, lean staff with a massive red ruby on top, held by metal talons.
I gave them a little speech before they started, pointing out what their enemies could do, so they wouldn’t get caught off guard, and then we started.
As they took the first couple of steps, Carmelita started moving her hands using the enchanting magic in her possession, dragging some of the necessary force from the red crystal. It was made with this purpose, so she could use more magic than her body was capable of holding.
It was supporting magic. Several different spells that I didn’t possess, but was able to observe the effects of theme with the naked eye.
Suddenly the members of my family movement became more fluid. They gained a lot of grace, but the magic, as I already knew, also influenced their strength and endurance. It was shielding their minds as well as bodies. Invigorating them, giving them a minor regeneration.
– Armory – said Tihana. – Sword number two.
Suddenly, in a flash of light, a two-handed sword with a single edge, a massive katana, appeared in front of her, and she snatched it, then put it on her shoulder to carry it around much easier.
She allowed Celestine and Leonel to go at the front, and hung with John as the second line, while Carlemita stayed at the very back, with me. After all, she was too fragile to face anything in that place. The rest had much bigger chances in head-to-head combat. Her whole shtick was healing and supporting the rest from the backline.
With me by her side, she didn’t have to worry about anything, because I simply wouldn’t allow any danger to reach her.
